Chapter 3: Saint
Alex's playful sparring with Ajax had become a bit intense over time. Wanting to equip Ajax properly, he gifted him a self-crafted wooden sword, though he underestimated its size, crafting it slightly too large for his little frame. Even so, Ajax wielded it with a surprising ease.
Ajax stretched out and rubbed his eyes. "Why must I choose it now? Is it necessary?" He thought.
[It can be chosen whenever you feel ready, but an earlier decision would be better,] Lucius said. [Mastering your ultimate skills sooner will be a great step.]
With careful and precise control, Ajax can conjure all his elements. The tri-mage had not had it easily. Despite many failed attempts—including a particular incident where he accidentally knocked out his teeth using earth magic—his perseverance paid off.
In contrast to his achievements, Lucius suggested he kept his fire and earth magic hidden for now. He felt the need for Ajax to choose his remaining ultimate skills sooner rather than later.
"I want to wait on them at the moment," Ajax thought. "I will choose them when my body becomes less fragile."
[But…] Lucius.
Ajax ran to Athena. She was baking a cake for Arrow's sixth birthday.
The sixth birthday of children in the Sacred Nation is never taken lightly. Most parents permit their children to enroll in academies after their sixth year. Based on the family's desire and the child's ability, prodigies quickly enroll at the age of six, as others enroll later on.
The possible departure of children calls for a grand celebration for every child's sixth birthday.
Ajax smirked, "I've got to make tonight special, hehe," he thought.
He asked Athena if he could lend a hand; Athena gracefully accepted with an enthusiastic smile.
The attempt to help eventually became the beginning of a disaster. He accidentally knocked down a crate of eggs while reaching for one.
As a responsible brother, he decided to clean up his mess. In an attempt to mop off the eggs, he accidentally slipped on the broken eggs, pouring the water he held for his cleaning on a bag of flour.
"Well, looks like we are making the cake… on the floor," with a deep breath, Athena said.
She lifted Ajax, and placed him in the enchanted stove, "sit down quietly" she said with an angry expression.
The sun started to set, and preparation for the party began.
The estate was adorned with glowing balloons, floating lazily in the air, changing colors in rhythm to the music playing. Crystal banners hang in the living room, shimmering with words of congratulations that seem to change with every glance.
Alex and Ajax dressed decently and stood by the entrance with the guest lists, looking forward to welcoming everyone.
Nobles, Royals, Elfins, and Beasts alike were present at the party.
The last to arrive was the Romanov family. Upon their arrival, the formalities of the event were stricken. No talks with strangers for Ajax, and no playing around.
Restricted and bored, Ajax strayed around as everyone had their fun.
He spotted nobles trying to pop the balloons used for the decorations. Immediately they sensed his presence; one of them approached and with the intention to threaten him not to tell anyone about their action.
Ajax gazed at him with a lazy expression; he turned to walk off, but the noble stopped him.
"Hey, stop," a voice from behind yelled.
He rushed in and pushed the noble away from Ajax. The nobles suddenly walked off.
"Hi, I'm Storm," the stranger said with a cheerful expression.
Ajax gave him a lazy expression as well, "Okay," as Ajax walked off.
Not long after, the party was over. But Ajax had long slept before this moment.
