Lust System: Sword Genius in Women's World

Chapter 76 The Duel [Part 3] Bonus Chapter

I stood on the sandy training ground, feeling the sand shift beneath my boots as I adjusted my stance.

Across from me, Mirabel stood, her eyes locked on me. She had that calm, cool expression she always wore, like she already knew how this would play out.

After telling Miss Sofia, she agreed to the penalty and added a little for herself, the loser would go an extra ten laps every morning, both of us agreed and here we are.

My hand rested on the hilt of my sword. This wasn't a wooden sword but it wasn't a real sword either, it had two blunt edge so you can't really kill another with the sword, but aiming at the head would cause a fairly serious injury.

I wasn't going to take her lightly, not with her ice and wind magic, which was the ones I knew. I had an edge with my swordsmanship, but magic had a way of leveling the playing field.

My heart beat steadily in my chest. I usually didn't get nervous, but this felt different—more important. Mirabel wasn't someone I could overpower easily, not without using my brain.

"Ready?" Miss Sofia called out from the sidelines, and surprisingly almost all the students were present.

I had no idea how they found out about the duel but I guess Mirabel was planning to win in front of all of them.

I gave a short nod, my eyes never leaving her. I held the sword feeling the weight in my hands.

Mirabel, as expected, held her sword but I was sure she wasn't going to use it.

Instead, a faint shimmer of cold mist formed around her hands as she began gathering her magic. The air seemed to cool around her.

No surprise there.

"Start" Miss Sofia spoke.

She moved first, lifting her hand. A sharp wind whipped through the courtyard, dragging sand with it. I squinted against the gust and felt the temperature drop instantly. I planted my feet, knowing this was just the start. Mirabel was keeping her distance, as I'd predicted. That gave me a chance.

I charged forward, closing the gap between us with quick, powerful strides, within seconds I was already close to her, but she wasn't fazed.

My sword slashed through the air, aiming for her side, but I knew she wasn't going to make it that easy.

Before my blade could connect, a shimmering wall of ice erupted from the ground, blocking my attack. I skidded to a stop just before slamming into it, feeling the cold radiating from the solid wall. She was quick—quicker than I expected.

'Think, Xavier' I muttered to myself.

I pivoted, darting around the ice wall, and watched her take a few steps back. She wasn't going to engage up close.

A brief shimmer passed through the air, and I saw the ice wall crack and break apart, chunks of ice falling to the sand.

With a swift motion of her hand, sharp shards of ice from the broken wall shot toward me. I rolled to the side, feeling one graze my arm as I barely dodged the others. The air around her was colder now, a clear sign she was ramping up her magic.

She was keeping her distance, relying on those ice shards to force me back. Smart. If I got too close, she knew I'd have the advantage with my sword. But I couldn't let her control the flow of the fight.

I planted my feet again, watching the next wave of ice shards as they flew toward me. This time, I didn't dodge. Instead, I focused on timing and infused my sword with Mana.

As the shards neared me, I swung my sword in a wide arc, slashing through them. The pieces shattered on impact, sending cold mist into the air, but I kept my focus sharp. My feet dug into the sand as I launched forward again.

Mirabel's hand twitched, summoning another blast of wind. The gust hit me square in the chest, pushing me back a few steps, but I didn't fall. The wind was strong, but it wasn't enough to stop me. I gritted my teeth and pressed on, closing the gap inch by inch.

When I was within striking distance, I raised my sword, preparing for another swing. But she had other plans. Her hand moved in a quick, fluid motion, and the ground beneath my feet turned icy. I lost traction immediately, slipping as I tried to regain my balance.

Damn.

My feet slid out from under me, and I hit the sand hard. The chill from the ice seeped through my clothes as I scrambled back to my feet. Mirabel took the opportunity to back up again, putting more distance between us.

Smart. She was using every advantage she had to keep me from getting too close. But I wasn't going to let her dictate the pace.

I gripped my sword tightly, focusing on my next move. I couldn't afford another slip. I needed to catch her off guard, something that would shift the momentum in my favor.

I bent slightly infusing Mana in my legs for a quick boost, Mirabel saw this and this time Ice spikes began forming in front of her but I dashed forward and used my skill

[Disrupt Magic]

I surged forward, my sword aimed straight for her. But before I could land a hit, the temperature dropped even further. The next thing I knew, the ground beneath me exploded in a flurry of frost and wind. I was thrown back, my feet leaving the ground as I was tossed through the air.

I hit the sand again, this time harder. My back ached from the impact, and I groaned, pushing myself up. My sword had fallen out of my hand, landing a few feet away. I reached for it, but the cold was biting now, almost numbing.

Mirabel stood in the center of the training ground, breathing hard, her hand glowing with magic. Ice and wind swirled around her, creating a barrier that I couldn't easily break. She wasn't messing around anymore.
