Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Demon and Klein
Note: I read a few reviews and comments on how the story was not descriptive enough in same parts. I felt like this was indeed true, but then I would lose the fast pace I intent to keep for this story. Still, I decided to try it out a little, and had added some basic descriptions in this chapter, and will continue to add some more here and there. This is why this chapter is a little longer, 1220 words.
------------------------------------------
A few minutes ago…
Mahoraga who had been in the process of trying to attack the bloody moon, paused for once, not because he was affected by some outside force, but because he wanted to. He felt another presence, one much closer to himself that was rushing at him in a mad dash.
A wide grin spread across his white featureless face as the four wings in place of his eyes spread out in anticipation. He had felt this feeling once before. When he had faced the orange-haired demon with the fetish of tattooing himself randomly.
It was the presence of a mad demon!
"Haha! Come you bald-headed demon!" Mahoraga pulled back his fist and punched at the black creature made up of a floating bald-head and four claws running on the ground, not actually attached to each other.
*Boom*
The power in his fists had grown stronger compared to when he had first arrived in this world, a feeling Mahoraga derived immense pleasure from. His punch caused a deafening crack as it broke through the sound barrier.
*Swish*
*Slick*
And yet, he missed entirely. The creature did not have a central body to hit, and its head just floated above his fist while the four claws below it, made up of several disfigured joints, slashed at his body trying to cut through without even touching his skin.
"Hmph. I cannot be defeated the same way twice!"
A new set of wheels appeared behind him as he punched out once more. This time, the blade in each of his hands began extending on their own. Slow as they might be, the still grew perceptible with each punch and turn of the wheel.
*Creak*
*Thud*
"Skreee!" the creature's bald head opened a wide, elongated mouth filled with hundreds of razor-sharp teeth with a menacing expression.
A long, slimy tongue extending from its mouth dripped gooey saliva onto its black, glossy slime that it had in place of skin. Along with its beginning is rabid charge at Mahoraga once more, two eyes formed on its face, white, oversized and irregularly shaped.
*Bang*
A few sonic booms later, Mahoraga's swords that protruded from the knuckles of both his hands were fully extended, almost equal in length to his forearm.
Along with that, a golden helm completed a full rotation and merged back with the remaining ones. The gooey black creature suddenly felt the space between its body solidifying, and before it could react, hundreds of slashed appeared all over it.
Mahoraga grinned but did not stop his assault as he could feel the creature still being alive. While the slices of liquid goop collapsed to the ground, it continued squirming, trying to get back together.
*Bang*
*Bang*
Mahoraga continued punching the ground where the tattered remains of the creature squirmed, the knuckle swords digging holes into the ground below, becoming faster and faster at coming together with each second.
'Oh? A fellow adapter?!' Mahoraga paused for a moment before his smile gradually vanished.
It was not because he was becoming serious, no, he was always serious, instead, it wad quite the opposite. Another one of the helms completed a rotation and he immediately felt the changes.
'Why is you adaptation ability so weak? It would take you a few years to get used to my attacks… and then I would just adapt to your new strength… what is worse… is that I have adapted to your adaptations… Do you even Adapt bro?' Mahoraga sighed while retracting his swords.
Then, he put his fists together in front of him as a massive amount of energy flowed out into the small space between them, before he simply went ahead and exploded the entire city-block they were on, incinerating everything for a few hundred metres in all directions including underground to nothingness.
*Boom*
The creature could no longer adapt, and Mahoraga had lost interest in it, so he simply destroyed it outright.
…
Zhou Mingrui, currently having taken up the name and body of Klein Moretti, disguised as the detective Sherlock Moriarty, paused in the process of eating some dinner as a deep rumbling resembling an earthquake passed by the house he had rented.
*Clank*
*Crash*
Some of the plates and glass ornaments that came with the place fell and shattered on the wood floor, causing Klein to feel the pain of his empty wallet deep within his heart.
'What in the-' his thoughts were cut short as the earthquake passed by almost as quickly as it came. Noticing his neighbours were coming out one at a time, he decided to do the same thing to not seem out of place, only to realise there was a gigantic golden helm floating in the night sky, clearly visible to everyone!
'No!'
Klein immediately took his eyes away from it. One thing he had learned from his escapades back in Tingen, something that he decided to stick to more often as his intuition had warned him, anything that seemed to be 'more' or 'larger' than what humans could achieve, it was best to stay as far away from them as possible.
In Tingen, he had lost someone very close to him, effectively his mentor in this foreign world, to the child of a god that was being used to facilitate the evil god's descent. His bald-headed mentor Captain Dunn had sacrificed himself to suppress the enemy, and just when it all seemed to be going well, the b*stard tore Klein's heart out from behind… a literal backstabber!
After having died again, his body was 'respawned' and he had decided to escape to the capital of the Loen kingdom; Backlund, to set-up his new life and advance in his sequence, away from this body's family who still thought he was dead.
It was an odd series of events in a bizarre and horrifying world of mysteries, one he was not proud of, but lived through nonetheless.
Now something that felt just as dangerous had appeared in the sky, and he simply wanted nothing to do with it. He would turn around and lave Backlund immediately!
"Oh, Mr. Moriarty! Are you alright?" Kaslana his neighbour, came out of her house asked with a worried tone.
Her face was then overlapped by the kind and innocent Ms. Justice, who was also in Backlund, and Klein took in a deep breath. He was in Backlund when this appeared in the sky, which meant it had likely already affected him.
Escaping might not ensure his safety, so it made more sense to investigate the cause and…
'Of course, help the official Beyonders deal with it! Why would I personally get involved and change my current status from potential early death to dead?'
Klein nodded internally while smiling back at Kaslana, "Thank you, and yes, I am fine. But I don't think it is safe for you to be wandering the streets when the moon is so high. Also…" he trailed off, but pointed at the giant golden helm floating in the sky above, causing her to case in horror before rushing back to her home.
She was widowed, but she was a kind woman, and Klein was rather nothing untoward happen to her.
He then turned to return to his home to get his things ready, after all, a magician was nothing if he was not prepared!
