Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Saint Carlos and 0-013
"Hey boss, why are we even here?" A blue-eyed man in a black windbreaker while adjusting the spectacles on his face.
"Olwyn, don't stop blinking! Concentrate!" The brunette woman, the older of the duo, yelled while tightly grasping a large jute sac with something evidently struggling inside, beads of sweat rolling down her forehead even in the cool autumn breeze.
"Geez, alright! Calm down Elise~" the blue-eyed man shrugged with a nonchalant expression continued running behind her, yet his back was also drenched in sweat.
*Tak*
*Tak*
As they ran down the streets in the silence of the night, they finally came across a middle-aged man in dark clothing with bright red gloves around his hands that were lighting a cigarette. Seeing the dup approaching, the man flicked the cigarette to the ground and stamped on the just freshly lit pat, and put away his lighter, and turned to face them.
"Saint Carlos… Sealed Artefact 0-013," her hands shivered while handing the item to the man, still continuously blinking once every second diligently, her hands trembling despite being a Sequence 5 powerhouse.
"Hmm, return to the Backlund Daises immediately and prepare to evacuate. If I fail, the church will need to relocate."
"This-" Olwyn was stunned for words.
"It is the blessings of the goddess," the middle-aged red-gloves Beyonder made a cross pattern on his chest, and the duo immediately followed suit.
"By Her will!"
"By Her will!"
"Then we will be off!" Elise saluted before turning away, still continuously blinking.
Only when they were on the other side of the borough did they sigh in relief. This strange sealed artefact only affected those who directly came into contact with it, and it made them unable to use Beyonder abilities after a few seconds of not blinking.
But that was only the jute bag, a Grade 0 sealed artefact.
The real issue was the thing inside. Nobody, at least nobody below the saint rank knew what was inside, but it was said to be related to an evil god of immense power. That was why it had to be sealed away using a grade 0 sealed artefact.
And just now, it was being deployed, which could only mean this was something even normal saints could not deal with.
"This is bad Olwyn. We have to get back to headquarters and inform them of the evacuation order from Sain Carlos!" Elise whited her cold sweat before turning to face Olwyn, who just nodded in return, his lackadaisical expression long having vanished from the Saint's words.
…
Mahoraga rapidly had the giant golden helm above his nape complete and entire rotation, and his body immediately came back under his control.
He turned to look at the blood-soaked moon and only a savage grin appeared on his face. He simply punched up at the moon, and nothing happened.
*Creak*
*Thump*
Except for a new, gigantic golden helm appeared. This one was so large it covered the night sky for most of Backlund, a situation that caused a lot of panic for the normal citizens. But Mahoraga did not care for this, for he had found an interesting opponent, and he could have this battle, one way or another.
"You cover the moon like a leach on a corpse, mistaking decay for domain…"
Mahoraga surprisingly felt the speed of his thoughts increase the longer he stayed in this world, but he did not pay it attention as the crimson moon suddenly pulsed with a near endless light akin to the sun.
Almost 100 more helms appeared behind Mahoraga as he collapsed to the ground once more. But it only stopped him for a few seconds as the constant effect caused full rotations to rapidly be completed and allowed movement to Mahoraga once more.
"What doesn't kill me… only makes you weaker!" Mahoraga grinned as he grasped at the air once more, the gigantic helm making another eighth of a rotation.
*Creak*
*Thump*
Saint Carlos who had just arrived at the scene was completely stunned at the situation. Was the creature… openly mocking… Her?
'And… it is still alive!!?' Saint Carlos' thoughts rapidly formed as he came to a simple conclusion, 'the plan might not end up working if that is the case…'
He continued blinking while kneeling to the side, behind a larger rock and began praying to the Evernight Goddess.
In his prayer, he explained the entire issue, but did not receive an answer for a long time, causing more and more sweat to accumulate on his body from the stress of the current situation.
Then, he heard a voice inside his mind, and bowed while continuing to blink, "Open the sack and escape. Evacuate along with the rest, and take as many followers as you can with you."
Following her orders to the letter, he opened the tightly knotted rope that kept whatever was inside… inside, before running away with the now empty sack as fast as he could. He even tried using some of his artefacts, but they failed, and only activated once he was an entire kilometre away from the white creature.
'Motherf-' Saint Carlos almost cursed, but was stopped by a loud explosion emanating from where he had just left.
