Chapter 3: chapter-3 A fat guy I like
Ned looked down at himself, moving his arms and legs experimentally. "Let's see… still chubby, but hey, I can move just fine." He wiggled his fingers, hopped on his feet, and gave his stomach a playful pat. In front of him stood the Administrator, Michael, and a small plant-like creature glowing faintly—Groot.
"I'm in a game," Ned concluded, his voice equal parts excitement and disbelief as he kept poking at himself like he couldn't quite believe it.
"You can say 'status' to check your current stats," Michael interjected, his calm, calculated tone cutting through Ned's excitement.
Ned perked up immediately. "Status!" he called out enthusiastically.
A translucent blue screen appeared before him, startling him slightly. He squinted at the text and began to read:
User ID: NedWillSurvive
Class: Architect
Mind: 8
Strength: 5
Speed: 3
Special: Not unlocked
"Architect?" Ned muttered, tilting his head. His finger hovered over the glowing text, but nothing happened when he tried to poke it. He looked up at Michael, confused. "What's 'Special'? Why's it locked?"
Michael's cold gaze softened ever so slightly as he addressed Ned. "You will unlock it in time. For now, your role is simple." He gestured to the surroundings with a sweeping motion. "You are free to explore for now. Your current range is a 300-meter radius. Beyond that, you'll encounter variants and anomalies—creatures that will kill you if you're not careful."
Michael's voice grew passionate as his eyes flicked toward the crumbling Foundation building behind them. "Your primary goal is to help the Foundation rise again. As you can see, we are reduced to this…" He motioned toward the ruins, his tone laced with a mix of frustration and hope. "Restore it. Build it. Expand it."
He turned back to Ned, his sharp gaze locking onto him. "Now go, my soldier. Explore."
Ned awkwardly raised his hand in what was supposed to be a salute, but it ended up somewhere between a wave and a head scratch. "Uh, yessir!" he said with a nervous grin before jogging away.
Michael watched him disappear into the building's lower levels, hands clasped behind his back. His voice softened as he spoke to himself, glancing at Groot. "The current structure has six floors—three above ground and three below. The ground floor is for D-Class. The first and second floors are for C and B-Class players, while the basement levels remain off-limits to all but the highest-ranking personnel. Let's see how long it takes before curiosity gets the better of him."
"Woah!" Ned exclaimed, sprinting through the halls of the crumbling structure. He jumped, ran, and even kicked at a wall, only to yelp and clutch his foot in pain. "Ouch. Okay, yeah, pain is real. That's a thing."
He tugged at the hoodie-like outfit he'd spawned in, marveling at its softness and comfort. The place was coated in cobwebs, the walls cracked and weathered, but it felt so real. Every step, every texture, even the musty air seemed authentic.
"This is insane," he muttered to himself, stepping outside.
As soon as he passed through the entrance, his jaw dropped. In front of him stretched a massive, overgrown forest. The trees were thick and gnarled, with vines dangling like ropes. Giant mushrooms dotted the landscape, their caps glowing faintly in the shadows.
"Wow," he breathed, stepping forward. The leaves crunched under his feet, and a warm breeze brushed against his face.
A thought crossed his mind. Streaming… I might as well give it a try.
With a flick of his hand, he opened the streaming menu. A few taps later, the stream was live.
Web_Head99 has joined the chat.
"Ned? Where are you? Are you vlogging?" Peter Parker's familiar voice popped up in the chat, and Ned nearly choked on air.
"No, no! Look, this isn't vlogging," Ned said quickly, turning the camera toward himself. His face beamed with excitement. "This is a game!"
"A game? What kind of prank is this?" Peter asked. "You're clearly standing in a forest."
Ned shook his head, spinning the camera around to show the landscape. "No, dude! This is Foundation! It's a game, like, an actual game! Look!" He waved his hand, summoning the Status screen again.
You_are_wizardharry has joined the chat.
Peter wasn't convinced. "Okay, what is this, some kind of VFX test? Did you get access to a movie set or something?"
Before Ned could reply, another message appeared. Harry Osborn chimed in: "Peter, what's Ned doing? Why does it look like he's on a film set? What's with all the effects?"
"Guys, I'm serious!" Ned exclaimed. "This isn't a movie or some kind of VFX prank. This is a game. It's called Foundation. You can even check it out yourself!"
Ned jumped around rolling tring to do a back flip which ended up hurting him..a little
Hahah ned Harry laughed as he watched his freind trying doing comical shits through the screen the fat guy was doing all sort of thing like tarzan yell and trying to climb a tree it was pretty entertainment
And foundation was it let see..
Ned watch out peter commented as he saw something behind his friends back..
---
Ned was full of energy, jumping around and rolling on the ground like he was auditioning for an action movie. "Alright, let's try this!" he shouted, his voice brimming with excitement. He attempted a backflip, only to land awkwardly with a loud thud.
"Ah, crap, that hurt… a little," Ned muttered, rubbing his back as he winced.
On the other side of the stream, Harry was practically crying with laughter. "Hahahaha! Ned, what the hell are you doing?" Harry said between gasps. The screen displayed his best friend flailing around like a kid on a sugar high, trying to do all sorts of comical moves.
Ned, unfazed, stood up and cupped his hands around his mouth. "Watch this, Tarzan time!" he yelled, doing his best jungle yell and sprinting toward a nearby tree. He grabbed onto a low branch, trying to climb up like some action hero, only for his grip to slip, and he tumbled back onto the ground with a loud grunt.
"Man, this game feels so real," Ned said to himself, brushing the dirt off his hoodie.
"It's real entertainment, I'll give you that," Harry chuckled as he leaned back in his chair. "You're a one-man comedy show, dude. This *Foundation* game might actually be worth watching if this is what it's like."
Ned was oblivious to Harry's teasing as he stood up again, determined to keep trying. "This is amazing, though! I mean, I can jump, roll, climb—ouch, okay, *mostly* climb. And look at this forest!" He spun in a circle, marveling at the overgrown jungle around him.
But as he moved, the camera caught something Harry didn't like.
"Uh… Ned?" Peter's voice chimed in from the chat. His tone was cautious, and it immediately caught Harry's attention.
"What?" Ned asked, turning his head slightly but still distracted by the virtual world.
"Watch out…" Peter said urgently, his comment flashing on the stream.
Something moved behind Ned—a shadow, tall and unnatural, its form twisting as it emerged from the trees.
