Chapter 58: Meeting with the Elders
Heavenly Luo Sect,
Council Hall...
The Council Hall of this prestigious sect stood as a bastion of divine authority and ancient legacy. Nestled at the summit of the Heavenly Luo Peak, it overlooked the vast expanse of the sect's territory like a watchful eye gazing down from the heavens themselves.
Built from obsidian spirit stone and veined with threads of silver soulsteel, the hall exuded both majesty and power. Every inch of it was steeped in profound formation arrays that pulsed with ancient energy, wards older than the sect itself, etched by the founding ancestors to protect the sanctity of this chamber.
Towering pillars lined the interior, each carved with the likeness of a past Grandmaster, their gazes eternally fixed toward the center of the room. Above them, a vaulted ceiling shimmered with a rotating celestial diagram, stars, constellations, and Dao sigils that changed with the seasons, reflecting the eternal flow of the heavens.
At the far end of the chamber sat the Master throne, resting atop a raised platform of seven steps.
Draped in silken banners bearing the emblem of the sect a phoenix entwined with a lotus, it was where the Sect Master presided over matters of great importance, his aura often hidden behind veils of daoist intent.
Surrounding the throne were several crescent-shaped seats carved from millennium spiritwood, where the Great Elders sat in solemn silence. Each seat was attuned to its elder's personal Dao, glowing faintly with their distinct spiritual imprint.
Incense smoke drifted lazily from dragon-shaped censers, and the silence was heavy, reverent, unbroken, and absolute. When one spoke here, it was with purpose, for even whispers in this hall could stir ripples across the fate of the entire cultivation world.
While the Sect Master himself sat in silence, the old men on their thrones grumbled endlessly. To the right of the master throne, the First Elder, smoking from his pipe sat there calmly, his eyes constantly flashing with annoyance while MeiYing who stood behind him fidgeted.
"Does that brat have no manners?! We've been waiting here for more than 30 minutes!" The Punishment Elder to the left of the Sect Master nearly crushed the arm rest of his seat in annoyance.
"Calm down Old man Luo. You heard the little lass, he'll be here soon!" Old Fourth who had been silent spoke out, his voice easing the tension. And about 15 minutes later, just as he has spoken, the massive doors of the Hall slammed open and a figure came trotting through, humming a song, while a chirpy smile tug at the corner of his lips.
"I really think we should have maps in the sect, took me a while to find the location to this place..." Gojo chuckled, and then when he lifted his head to admire the room, he paused in his stride. "Wow, this place is stunning...." MeiYing couldn't help but facepalm in embarrassment.
"Do you have any shred of respect for your Elders, brat! How dare you keep us waiting! And not have a shred of humility to apologize?!" The Punishment Elder's voice boomed, but Gojo was busily admiring the beautiful vases and paintings on the walls to care.
When he was done with his little sightseeing, he walked before them, waving towards them in excitement, seeing the annoyed looks on their faces. "Come on, you guys look like you can't take a joke. Besides, I'm late because I just had a little chit chat with our little devil friend.."
Gojo shrugged, placing both hands in his pockets. They wouldn't dare to harm him, afterall, he was the hope of the Sect. Of course, that didn't mean he would overstep his boundary. But, a little fooling around and annoying then here and there wouldn't hurt, after all, he was quite experienced with dealing with troublesome old men from his time at Jujutsu High.
The Sect Master, Luo Feng nodded gently. "Any disciple summoned in the presence of the council would be shivering and nervous by now. You have incredible disposition.." His eyes showed contentment.
Gojo smiled. "My pleasure.." The first Elder exhaled a puff of smoke. "What happened with that little devil boy?" He asked.
Gojo sighed. "A real nut job. Although I didn't expect you lot to put him in chains and all that, kinda complicated the whole thing, but I got it under control..." Gojo took out a small jug of water and drunk from..
The Third Elder, Xiao Wusheng's master chimed in. "You do know that if things go wrong with him, you'll take the entirety of the blame.."
"Yeah.." Gojo answered, rubbing his chin. The Punishment Elder's voice boomed once more. "We agreed to allow him to live, but even so, we can't risk anything. I'll put two Elders on strict day to day supervision. They'll watch him every passing second, and take action the moment they notice something wrong with him..."
His words caused Gojo's smile to disappear, and his face turned serious. "I told you, I've got it under control. He's under my supervision. Leave the kid alone.." He could be crushed if any of them so wished, but he wasn't going to back down. His honour and dignity as a teacher would always cause him to be overprotective concerning all the strays he took in.
"You dare!!" The Punishment Elder raged. His voice was laced with incredible Yuan Power that caused even the sky to darken instantly. But Gojo stood his ground.
"That's enough, old man Luo." But the Sect Master's calm voice diffused the tension almost instantly. The Punishment Elder could only sit back and grit his teeth.
"We understand sentiment, young man. But governing a massive power such as this requires strength, not emotions. I hope you understand us. We need to know what makes you so confident to restrain the devilish power of that boy, otherwise, don't blame us for taking extreme measures..."
Gojo smirked. The Sect Master was smart. Really smart. Diplomatic and scheming. The kind of people who could play on words to manipulate. Dealing with people of such intelligence was always a pain in the ass.
He sighed slowly and unfolded the upper part of his face, revealing glaring sapphire blue eyes that shone. "My six eyes allows me to perceive energy and now matter down to the atomic level. The boost to my perception is so great that every single passing moment in the outside world is more than two minutes for my senses..
I see what ordinary people cannot. And perceive mysteries that the ordinary eye cannot.. But I have to cover my eyes all the time so as to not exhaust myself and my brain every passing second from the near limitless information.."
Gojo tapped the side of his head as he spoke, his words caused the elders to gasp in shock. Their mouths widened and they turned to each other speechlessly. Even the first Elder who was smoking paused and turned towards his grand daughter MeiYing who rolled her eyes at him.
"The devilish character of Han Yan is concentrated deep within his soul. I believe with the right mechanism, environment and nurturing, he'd soon be able to wrestle control in no time..."
The Elders squinted at his words, taking him into consideration, afterall, he wasn't just speculating. He could see things they couldn't. They had no choice but to believe him.
"What makes you positive he'd be able to control his devilness.." This time it was the First Elder who spoke. Gojo smirked, blindfolding himself once more, before fixing his hands into his pockets.
"Han Yan's a peculiar kind of monster. Most would've already been driven crazy from the multiple demonic possessions, their consciousness shattered and all, but he's brute forced his way through it all, keeping his sanity even through all the transformations. I think he's the perfect vessel for that kind of power, because he alone has what it takes to beat them into submission..."
"Hehee. You're not wrong, but he'll need more than willpower for that. The Divine Devil Restriction Seal would break down the devil power within his soul and allow him to siphon the power growing stronger and stronger with each advancement in strength. Only problem is it takes like forever to assemble the necessary ingredients for that kind of divine seal. About 50 percent of the ingredients are available at the sect's treasury, you'd have to find the rest yourself.."
The First Elder offered a far better solution, his words were wise, causing the Elders to heave a sigh of relief. Their belief in the old man was solid, if he claimed something was possible then it truly was.
The Sect Master held a gentle approving smile. "Then it's decided. You will keep an eye on him, while the necessary ingredients for the seal in arranged for. When all is said and done, I'll believe we'll have another talented individual for the sect.." The Sect master concluded and then spun his gaze back to Gojo.
"Noe tell me young man, what are your plans, after the chapter of your life in this sect?"
