Chapter 62: CHAPTER 62
"Director Nick Fury, or something?"
"About the Tesseract, the Kree Empire, and the Skrull refugees—whatever."
"Don't you have anything to say to me?"
All S.H.I.E.L.D. agents lay unconscious, yet Tony Stark remained standing.
Having overheard the entire conversation, Stark immediately summoned his Mark L armor. After Ragna's mysterious disappearance, he turned his attention to the imposter—one of the Skrulls masquerading as Nick Fury.
"Damn it, someone will explain it to you, but right now, I need to leave," the Skrull, still disguised as Fury, retorted. Ignoring Stark's questioning and the fallen agents, he swiftly exited the Stark mansion.
Meanwhile, the mighty Aesir, once the forceful takers of the Tesseract, suddenly descended upon Earth once more. For the Skrulls, the Tesseract was the key to their survival, necessary to recreate Dr. Lawson's light-speed engine and escape the relentless pursuit of the Kree across the galaxy.
The Skrull operative had no time to explain this to Stark. That responsibility would fall on the real Nick Fury—if he wasn't already complicit in the deception. Right now, his priority was to alert the remaining Skrulls still hidden on Earth.
Above the city, hovering over the shimmering lights of New York, Ragna observed the landscape with Valina at his side.
"This world is so prosperous… I wonder how much longer it will last," he mused.
Valina, not one for patience, cut to the point. "Why didn't you let me force that Skrull out? I like Midgard. I don't want these parasites taking over!"
"If anyone should claim this planet, it should be us!"
Ragna smirked. "That's the fish I caught. You can't scare it off."
"And besides," he continued, "you know that bald-headed Fury and the Skrulls have a… partnership."
"Maybe he's using them deliberately. If you blow up his little act now, he won't get to play his hand."
Valina scoffed. "That bald head? The man lost his hair and his vision!"
"He has no idea what the Skrulls truly are. He'll end up bringing disaster to all of Midgard."
Ragna's enigmatic smile didn't waver. "No… maybe the disaster has already begun."
He exhaled, eyes glinting as he continued. "But what did you expect? He was a low-level agent six years ago. Now he's Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. You think that kind of rise comes without help? The Skrulls have been useful to him, and now he's repaying the favor."
Valina turned her attention back to Stark. "What about the Iron Man? Why not tell him who he's really up against? He had the nerve to refuse your invitation."
"Is he really so powerful? Could he compare to Tianji Wang Hexi? Can a mere Midgardian match the gods?"
Ragna chuckled. "Tony may not rival Hexi now, but in the future? That's another story."
"And Midgard… Midgard is far from ordinary."
He let the words hang before elaborating. "Think about it. The Nine Realms under Asgard's rule—all possess formidable powers and unique technologies. All… except Midgard."
"Why does Asgard still bother ruling this place?"
"Why does it draw the interest of beings across the cosmos—gods, Mephisto's hell-lords, and cosmic entities alike?"
"You remember the Celestial Ego, don't you? He had countless offspring across the universe, but why was it Peter Quill, a half-human, who successfully inherited his power?"
"None of this is coincidence."
Valina fell into deep thought.
Ragna shook his head, a knowing smile on his lips. "The souls of Earth's humans are unique."
"They have an unparalleled capacity for birthing intellectual giants—minds that shape the fabric of the universe."
"They produce magicians who can challenge demons of the underworld."
"And their souls… their souls hold tremendous value."
"If an angel could earn their faith, our power would soar beyond imagination."
Ragna had long advanced his solar abilities to a high-tier level. His careful study of human nature, coupled with undeniable facts, had led him to a stunning realization—
Earth was a treasure trove.
And the secrets it concealed were far greater than anyone suspected.
Valina clenched her fists. "If Midgard is so valuable, why don't we mobilize the fleet and take it for ourselves?"
"The old strategy—let the Ravagers invade, have the Angels arrive as saviors, establish a temple, and claim the planet!"
"And that Iron Man—he's too formidable to leave unchecked. We should just capture him, brainwash him if needed, force him to join us."
"I can summon the Ravagers right now."
Ragna raised a hand to stop her.
"It's not that simple. Midgard is still technically under Asgard's domain."
"At the very least, I'll need to speak with the Allfather first."
"Besides," he added, eyes narrowing, "didn't you notice?"
"There's already an angelic presence on this planet."
"To secure their faith, we first have to eliminate the competition."
"This world will be mine… and no one else's."
His tone turned almost playful. "As for Tony Stark? A mind like his is invaluable. Brainwashing won't work."
"No rush—he'll join us of his own will."
"We have time."
"If you had a hundred years to wait for a genius to work for you, wouldn't you?"
"Now, imagine if you had ten thousand years."
Ragna had ascended to godhood long ago.
And with it, he had learned to measure time as the gods did.
Patience was a luxury he could afford.
As the world shifted under the Skrulls' hidden influence, Ragna was certain—sooner or later, Stark would make the right choice.
But for now, his eyes flicked toward the distance. A telltale shimmer rippled through the night sky.
The Bifrost had activated.
It seemed Loki was up to something once again.
Perhaps it was time for a conversation.
This version keeps the essence of the original while adding Marvel-specific details (e.g., Dr. Lawson's light-speed engine, Ego and Peter Quill, Mephisto's domain, Asgardian rule over Midgard, etc.) to make it align more with the established universe. It also improves flow, grammar, and clarity while keeping the word count intact.
