Chapter 165: Chapter 165: The Lost Eyes

After pouring the molten metal into the mold, Eitri opened it, and both the axe head and tail of the battle-axe emerged.

"Right, I need to find a suitable axe handle," Eitri muttered, turning around to search for the proper tools for a handle.

Han Yu stared at the two axe parts in contemplation. After a moment, he extended his hand. The energy from his green lantern surged toward the axe head and tail, merging the two components and forming a shaft over a meter long.

Once the axe was assembled, it mysteriously floated in mid-air, as if it had gained sentience, and flew directly into Han Yu's hand. This scene was witnessed by Eitri, who returned with several metallic handles.

Feeling a bit awkward, Han Yu explained, "Uh, this isn't my doing. I just wanted to make a handle, and it moved on its own."

Eitri stepped closer, examined the handle, discarded the tools in his hands, and nodded in satisfaction. "Not bad. The handle formed from your energy is much better—it can withstand far more power."

Han Yu asked, "So why did it fly into my hand? Can others still use it?"

Eitri replied, "Of course others can use it. It flew to you because it chose the most suitable person in its proximity after taking shape. However, unlike Odin's enchantments, it hasn't been imbued with magic. It's not like Thor's hammer, which only a select few can lift."

Hearing this, Han Yu nodded in realization. However, Eitri's explanation didn't sit well with everyone present.

"Hey, that axe! I'm the strongest one here, right? Why didn't it fly to me?"

Galacta dashed over, snatched the axe from Han Yu's hand, and angrily scolded it.

The Stormbreaker, of course, remained silent. No matter how much she shouted, it didn't budge.

Han Yu pulled out a few nuclear energy pellets he had prepared in advance and handed them to Galacta. As he took the axe back, he said, "You're right. It's the axe's fault. Let's not bother with it. Here, have some snacks to cool off."

The sight of food lit up Galacta's eyes. Forgetting all about the axe, she grabbed the pellets and happily began munching.

This left the others rolling their eyes. "You're just spoiling her," one of them muttered.

Weighing the Stormbreaker in his hand, Han Yu reasoned that since it had chosen him, he had the right to wield it. He declared, "Alright, everything's ready. Let's take the fight back to Asgard!"

"Yes!" Loki clenched his fists, his anticipation evident. This was the moment he had been waiting for.

Hela nodded silently. "Finally, it's time to return."

Galacta continued nibbling on her pellets, blinking innocently.

Seeing this, Han Yu smiled faintly, raising the Stormbreaker high. A brilliant rainbow light descended from the sky, enveloping everyone.

As the light faded, Han Yu and his companions vanished from Eitri's sight.

Watching the horizon, Eitri murmured, "Han Yu, you must help Asgard overcome this calamity."

*Asgard, the Main Hall*

The once-empty main hall was now packed with people. Women and children huddled together, exhaustion evident on their faces. Outside, the sounds of explosions periodically rang out, triggering small waves of panic among the crowd, though they were quickly comforted by those nearby.

On the throne sat not Odin, but Thor.

"Thor, the Vanir gods have pushed their attack to the outer residences. The shield protecting this hall should hold for about ten more days, barring any unexpected events."

Heimdall, the guardian of the Bifröst, stood beside Thor, briefing him on the latest battle developments.

Thor's expression had changed. The youthful innocence in his eyes was gone, replaced by a solemn, piercing gaze that could make anyone feel as though they were being cut apart with a thousand blades.

Thor listened to Heimdall's report and sighed deeply. "Still no news from Loki?" he asked.

"I've been monitoring the Bifröst closely," Heimdall replied. "Since the last time we took the risk to send Loki away, their defenses have tightened even more. So far, there hasn't been any activity from the Bifröst." He sighed again and added, "If I still had my eyes, we wouldn't have to live in such constant fear."

Heimdall opened his eyes. Gone were the deep, star-filled orbs he once had; they were now pure white.

A scar ran across his face, from the corner of his left eye to the corner of his right. This wound had blinded him—a mark left by the Vanir King, the god of the sea himself. Because of this injury, Heimdall could no longer see the universe as he once could.

Without his original eyes, Heimdall was now little more than an Asgardian warrior, only slightly stronger than the average soldier.

He could still see, but only because of the artificial eyes that had replaced his own. Without them, even basic combat would have been impossible.

Thor nodded with a touch of sadness. Despite everything, he still held onto hope for Loki. While his younger brother had betrayed him countless times, Thor believed that Loki would never turn against him in such a dire moment.

This was the reason why, despite Loki's endless tricks and schemes, Thor had never truly brought himself to strike him down.

Just as they were speaking, a sudden commotion rippled through the crowd in the distance. Thor stood immediately, extending his right hand. Mjölnir, resting by his side, flew into his grasp.

"What's happening?" Thor demanded.

"Someone's breached the northern defenses!" a frontline warrior ran up to report.

"The north… isn't that where the shield's energy source is located?" Heimdall exclaimed in alarm.

Before the words had fully left Heimdall's mouth, a loud thunderclap echoed in his ears. He turned, only to find that Thor had already vanished, hammer in hand, flying off at breakneck speed.

Heimdall couldn't help but marvel. "Thor's strength has improved drastically during this time. Even without relying on Mjölnir, his flight speed is incredible. What he went through in the Dark World must have left a profound impact on him."

With that, Heimdall took off running to follow Thor.

When Thor arrived at the location of the shield's energy source, dread filled his heart as soon as he reached the door. All the Asgardian warriors stationed to guard the area were already down.

Following the Dark Elves' devastating assault on Asgard, repairs had been slow and arduous. To protect themselves, the Asgardians had managed to construct a temporary shield generator, putting all their remaining resources into its creation. Thor had ordered extra guards to ensure its safety, but it had still been infiltrated.

Thor pushed the door open, only to see someone standing by the energy core, shouting at the top of their lungs.

"For the glory of Vanaheim!"

"No!"

Thor surged forward, but it was too late. The explosion erupted before he could reach the intruder. The massive energy shockwave sent Thor flying backward, slamming him hard into the wall.

Staring at the ruined energy device, now reduced to rubble once again, Thor muttered weakly, "It's over… we're doomed."

Heimdall arrived moments later and froze at the sight before him. His face darkened completely. This energy device had been their final line of defense.
