Chapter 200: Chapter 200: The Formation of the Green Lantern Corps

Granting the authority to act first and report later meant that they had their own law enforcement rights. They didn't need prior approval before taking action. Instead, they were allowed to respond immediately to incidents as they happened, preventing irreversible consequences due to delayed communication or a lack of timely responses.

Assigning the responsibility of evaluating missions to Captain America seemed like an excessive display of trust on Han Yu's part, at least in the eyes of others—including the Winter Soldier.

But only Han Yu himself knew the real reason. In the Endgame he remembered, Captain America lifting Thor's hammer spoke volumes.

In this universe, Odin had placed the same enchantment on Mjolnir—only those with a righteous heart could lift the hammer and wield the power of Thor.

Because of this, Han Yu had an inexplicable trust in Captain America.

"Since our combat levels vary, we will be divided into multiple groups. First, I want to introduce the division responsible for managing internal planetary affairs. I call it the Planetary Corps, and its purpose is to handle supernatural threats occurring within a planet."

Han Yu explained.

Although Green Lantern rings granted the ability to travel through space, Han Yu still wanted the primary focus of the Green Lantern Corps to be Earth.

He had no grand ambition of maintaining peace across the universe. His reason for creating the Green Lantern Corps was partly due to his fondness for the concept and partly because he didn't want to personally handle every crisis.

Thus, he intended to establish a corps so powerful that it could handle most situations across the universe. Naturally, Earth would be the top priority—far too many incidents occurred there.

"Loki, you'll be the leader of the Planetary Corps," Han Yu announced.

Originally, Han Yu had considered assigning Loki to a cosmic role, but upon seeing that his magic was still at the level of a "knife-wielding backstabber," he abandoned the idea.

On a planet, situations were at least somewhat manageable. But once in space, the threats would include intergalactic criminals and even god-tier beings.

Although Loki was known in Asgard as the God of Mischief and Deception, he didn't actually possess divine power. He was merely an Asgardian with an exceptionally strong physique.

"Ah… fine." Loki hesitated, but Thor gave him a nudge. When Loki turned to look, Thor simply shook his head.

Seeing this, Loki accepted the role. This wasn't the time to bargain.

The higher the position, the greater the danger.

At this stage, the Green Lantern Corps was newly formed. High-ranking positions carried little prestige, and Loki figured it would be wiser to start with a lower role and work his way up when he grew stronger.

Besides, his position wasn't that low. Within the Green Lantern Corps, managing only a single planet might seem insignificant, but on closer thought—it was essentially the same role the Avengers played.

With that realization, Loki convinced himself and suddenly felt rather pleased.

"Thor, you will lead the First Division, the Nebula Corps. As the name suggests, this division is responsible for managing entire star systems. If a planet faces an internal crisis beyond its ability to resolve, you will step in."

"Ultron, you will be the Vice Commander of the entire corps, in charge of handling cases that the individual divisions cannot resolve."

"Pietro, you will lead the Second Division, the Reconnaissance Corps, responsible for patrolling the universe and alerting the First Division to any incidents."

At this point, Han Yu paused before continuing.

"The above roles oversee the larger scope. Now, I will address the division responsible for Earth itself."

"Bucky, I will be forming a special organization in collaboration with S.H.I.E.L.D. Your team will handle internal conflicts on Earth. Each member of this organization will be equipped with a memory eraser. Your mission will be to investigate supernatural incidents on Earth, intervening before they escalate. Once the situation is contained, you will use the memory eraser to remove the memories of any civilians who were exposed to these events, preventing widespread panic."

Han Yu was, of course, referring to an organization from a classic sci-fi movie from his past life—the Men in Black.

While S.H.I.E.L.D. also handled such matters, it was a government agency, making certain situations difficult to manage efficiently.

The organization Han Yu was forming would specialize in handling these cases, as the Green Lantern Corps was far more capable of dealing with extraterrestrial incidents. Compared to them, S.H.I.E.L.D. was simply too weak.

Bucky nodded, indicating his understanding.

With the assignments finalized, the Green Lantern Corps was officially established.

Its formation was quiet and unnoticed, both on Earth and throughout the universe. The only ones aware of it were those present at the meeting.

To Han Yu's surprise, recruiting ordinary corps members happened much faster than he had anticipated.

Since the Green Lantern rings originated from Han Yu, he defined their selection criteria himself—the rings could only be wielded by those with goodness in their hearts.

The stronger one's sense of righteousness, the greater their control over a Green Lantern ring.

During the early stages of the corps' formation, Han Yu briefly took on the role of a teacher, instructing the division leaders who had just received their rings and didn't yet know how to use them. Once they had mastered the basics, Han Yu was free to step back and rest.

After that, the responsibility of training new recruits fell to the division leaders. Han Yu only needed to sit back and enjoy his tea while watching everything unfold.

Following the establishment of the Green Lantern Corps, Han Yu released around a hundred sub-rings—some scattered across Earth, while others floated through space.

The purpose was to find suitable candidates for the corps. There were no restrictions on what kind of beings could join—the Green Lantern Corps did not require its members to be humanoid. As long as an individual was kind-hearted and willing to fight for others, they could be chosen.

Watching the countless green lights streak across the sky, Quicksilver voiced his concern. "Boss, what if someone powerful enough forcefully takes one of these rings?"

Han Yu chuckled. He had already considered this issue.

"Don't worry. These sub-rings are surrounded by a special energy shield. If the ring isn't accepted by its intended user, the energy within it will instantly dissipate. At best, it'll just be a useless decoration."

Understanding dawned on Quicksilver, and he nodded. "That's a pretty solid plan."

Gazing up at the vast, starry sky, Han Yu murmured, "The universe is vast. We won't have to wait long—the right candidates will be chosen soon enough."

...

Captain America and the Winter Soldier walked down the street, speaking in hushed tones about the Green Lantern Corps. Their discussion revolved around how to recruit new division members.

Since both of them were nearly a century old, most of the trustworthy comrades they once had were long gone. Finding new recruits who met their standards of trustworthiness while also being eligible to join the Green Lantern Corps was proving to be no easy task.

As they pondered the problem, a woman's sharp scream snapped them out of their thoughts.

Turning their heads, they saw a thug snatching a woman's purse.

Captain America and the Winter Soldier exchanged a glance and were just about to intervene when a shadow passed by them in an instant, sprinting toward the thief.
