"Friends' ads and readers' letters column."
Peter picked up the Daily Bugle and turned to that section of the paper.
*"Little Spider, the last meeting fascinated me so much that I couldn't sleep at night. How about you?
Life is like running water; you and I should not live it in vain. I will wait for you on the roof where we last met - Little Kitten."*
Reading the message, Peter fell into deep thought.
Kitten?!
After separating from Black Cat last time, she had mentioned that if she wanted to meet again, she would leave a message in the Daily Bugle. Could this be it? Was she truly this bold and outspoken?
He took out his phone, contemplating whether he should call the number she had left.
But then he hesitated. If Gwen saw him making this call, what would she think? He mulled over how he might explain himself. Should he deny everything or just keep it hidden?
It wasn't lost on him that Gwen had feelings for him. If she found out this was a secret code from Black Cat—and such an explicit one—she would be furious.
"Snap!"
Closing his phone, Peter steeled his expression.

Nighttime
The city was shrouded in fog, casting an eerie atmosphere over the buildings.
Whoosh!
A pair of bat-like wings spread through the air.
Peter's figure landed silently on the rooftop of a jewelry company. He scanned the area and spotted a white tablecloth laid out with wine and cheese.
The rich aroma of the cheese mingled with the fog, and the crimson hue of the wine in the glass was almost hypnotic.
Next to the setup sat Black Cat, legs dangling off the rooftop's edge. Her back was to Peter, her silhouette sharp and elegant.
"Scenes like this don't happen every day," Peter said.
Hearing his voice, Black Cat turned her head. "Hey, Parker, you're finally here."
Her eyepatch was now replaced with yellow goggles, giving her a more enigmatic appearance.
Peter gestured toward the wine and food. "Why the setup?"
"Didn't I say last time that it was a shame we didn't have red wine and cheese? So, I made it happen this time," she replied, uncorking the wine.
Pouring herself a glass, she sipped from it gracefully. "I don't know your taste, but I hope you like it."
"You saw my ad, didn't you?" she asked, her eyes gleaming mischievously.
Peter nodded as he walked closer. "Yeah, you're... very direct."
"That's not being direct; that's being honest about my feelings," Black Cat smiled, handing him a glass.
She leaned back lazily, swinging her legs over the edge and turning toward him. "I'd like to ask you something before we talk business."
Peter raised an eyebrow. "What?"
"Do you really like that Spider-Girl?"
"...What?"
"Or is it that under your mask, there's some disfigured face you're hiding?"
"No."
She moved closer, studying him intently. "I know your name is Parker. If I wanted to investigate further, I could easily uncover your identity—just like I know Spider-Woman's name is Gwen. But I didn't."
Her voice softened. "I'd rather you tell me yourself and unmask in front of me one day."
Peter stared at her, remaining silent.
Black Cat picked up the wine glass again and clinked it against Peter's. "Alright, let's get down to business."
She handed him a newspaper. "There's an ad here from a film crew recruiting extras for a horror movie. They're looking for people to play victims—either revealing skin or running around screaming."
Peter glanced at the ad: The crew of "Howl at Midnight" is recruiting extras.
"Seems normal enough. What's wrong with it?" he asked.
Black Cat continued, "The ad isn't tied to the Screen Actors Guild, so it's difficult to trace the applicants. But I found something on a blog—an actor named Nancy joined this crew and then disappeared. Her boyfriend later brought it to light."
Peter's brows furrowed as he scanned the recruitment details.
"The crew claimed the shooting location was a city studio, but Nancy's boyfriend said they moved to Bear Mountain in the state park instead," Black Cat added.
"So, you suspect this crew has something to do with the disappearances?"
Black Cat nodded. "Exactly. At the very least, whatever's haunting that area is tied to them."
Peter folded the newspaper and said, "Thanks for the tip."
Though he suspected this might involve dark creatures, he couldn't rule out the possibility of alien activity.
"You're welcome," Black Cat said with a smirk. "By the way, aren't you going to try the cheese? It wasn't easy to bring here."
Peter shook his head. "Not a fan of cheese."
"Such a pity." Black Cat pretended to sigh dramatically.
Peter handed her his card. "Here. My phone number. Maybe next time we won't need such an elaborate way to meet."
Surprised, Black Cat took the card, then gently touched his face. "Giving me your number, huh? You do know cats have a habit of sticking around for life, right?"
Peter moved her hand away. "I'm not much of a cat person."
Before she could respond, he jumped off the rooftop, his figure vanishing into the fog.

Nearby Alley
"Are these guys vampires too?"
Bang!
Gwen kicked one of her attackers, her spider-silk slamming another into a wall.
Several masked figures surrounded her. Their movements were fast, their strength far beyond that of ordinary people.
The aura they emitted reminded Gwen of the vampire she had fought the previous night. Could these be its allies, seeking revenge?
As she dodged another attack, a silver dart flew through the air, striking one of the masked figures.
"Careful," a deep voice warned.
Gwen turned to see a man clad in black leather. Sunglasses obscured his eyes, and a silver sword gleamed in his hand.
With swift precision, he slashed through the masked attackers, his movements fluid and deadly.
"Who are you?" Gwen asked, wary but intrigued.
"Daywalker," the man replied, his voice calm yet commanding.
Before Gwen could ask further, he leapt into action, decimating their shared enemies with brutal efficiency.
