Chapter 417: 417 I Need a New Hammer!
As the brilliance faded, Kagura's consciousness returned to reality.
Inside the mental illusion woven by the Soul Stone, she had undergone the trials of the Space, Reality, Mind, and Time Stones in succession.
Having successfully cleared each one, she earned their recognition, gaining the ability to freely wield their powers—an achievement that skyrocketed her combat capabilities.
And yet... in the real world, only about five seconds had passed.
"Anyway! I need a new hammer!!"
Kagura blinked, finally registering Thor's voice echoing from the adjoining hall.
"If I can just get my hands on a weapon strong enough," Thor muttered, pacing like a restless lion, "I'll smash Hela's skull to pieces! So, hammer! Someone get me a hammer!!"
"Geez..."
The silver-haired girl sighed, rubbing her temples.
"Are you the God of Thunder or the God of Hammers…?"
Still, she had to admit Thor had a point.
Sure, his true power came from lightning itself.
Even without a weapon, Thor could unleash thunderous might that no army could withstand.
But Hela... Hela wasn't someone you could defeat with mere electrical therapy.
She was no simple game-addicted shut-in who'd fall over from an electric shock.
To defeat Hela—to fulfill the promise made—Thor's strength was essential.
And to let Thor fight at full power... he would absolutely need a weapon worthy of his might.
Hmm...
Also, they'd better make sure he didn't get fat again.
Thankfully, there wasn't a five-year gap this time for him to turn into a "happy hammer-wielding couch potato."
"Hey, Thor. If it's weapons you need, Rhodes Island Industries can provide some decent options."
Kagura stretched, shaking off the mental fatigue left by the Infinity Stone trials, and stepped out of her room.
"But... judging from our last battle with Hela, I doubt even standard vibranium weapons will hold up. Unless... you want to learn some dimensional sorcery from me?"
"Appreciate the offer, Kagura. Didn't you say you were going to rest? Am I being too loud? Sorry about that."
Thor gave her a gentle smile.
"But anyway!" He cleared his throat. "To fully unleash my thunder god powers, I do need a weapon equal to—or greater than—Mjolnir!"
"Unfortunately, Earth is too primitive, too backward. No way you'll get a divine weapon here," came Loki's trademark snark as he cut in.
"And Asgard's been sealed off by Hela. The divine forge's inaccessible... Unless, big bro, you want to learn illusion magic from me?"
As he spoke, Loki conjured two shimmering daggers from thin air, waving them teasingly in front of Thor.
"Very handy, you know."
"Only sissies use delicate little toys like that! I doubt those toothpicks could even pierce Hela's chestplate!"
Thor scoffed.
"But you're right—Asgard's a no-go right now. But there is another place in the cosmos where I can forge the mightiest weapon!"
"Nidavellir."
Kagura smoothly picked up the thread.
"I know it. One of the Nine Realms. The realm of the Dwarves."
Thor gave her a pleased nod.
"Hah! I knew you were a sharp one, little sister! Reliable as ever!"
Loki, meanwhile, looked puzzled.
"Wait... how do you, a human from Earth, know about Nidavellir?"
"Ah, easy."
Kagura patted Loki's shoulder with a grin.
"Did you forget? Rhodes Island Industries holds a full archive of Asgardian science and literature. There's plenty in there about the Nine Realms—including Nidavellir."
And she wasn't lying.
Asgard had indeed shared detailed records of Nidavellir—the mysterious, fabled realm of the dwarves.
Of course, Kagura's most vivid impressions of that incredible realm came from somewhere else entirely:
Her own memories.
Nidavellir—one of the Nine Realms. The kingdom of the Dwarves.
Though "dwarves" in this Marvel universe were... relative.
Compared to giants, maybe they were small. But the dwarves of Nidavellir stood well over three meters tall—towering over even Thor like living, walking Gundams.
The term "dwarf" hardly seemed to fit them at all.
Their realm floated beside a dying neutron star, whose fading energy wasn't as forceful as an ordinary sun.
To survive, the dwarves had built a vast and awe-inspiring Dyson Ring—not just to live upon, but to harvest the star's energy and keep it from collapsing.
Three enormous rings circled the star, feeding off its radiation, recycling its power, and preventing its death in an endless cosmic dance.
A civilization beyond Earth's wildest dreams, far beyond any planet's need for surface living—thriving amid the neutron star's cold brilliance, in a display of supreme technological mastery.
Nidavellir's people had remained neutral for ages—silent, secretive.
To most other civilizations in the cosmos, they were little more than myth.
Very few knew its exact location. Most dismissed it as legend, a fairy tale for space travelers.
In truth, Nidavellir—the Dwarven realm—was the most powerful weapons forge in the entire universe, the official armory of the Asgardian royal family.
Every weapon crafted in Nidavellir carried unparalleled might, each one destined to become a legend throughout the cosmos.
Thor's Mjölnir, Odin's eternal spear Gungnir, and even Surtur's Twilight Sword were all masterpieces born from the hands of Nidavellir's Dwarves.
"That's right! Nidavellir!" Thor straightened his chest with pride, a wide grin spreading across his face. "If I can get my hands on a new, stronger weapon there, I'll smash Hela's skull for sure!"
"...Probably... at least... I hope it won't get crushed by her like last time…"
His voice trailed off as the memory crept in—his beloved Mjölnir, also forged in Nidavellir, had been crushed in Hela's grip as easily as a brittle cookie.
Thor's expression darkened as he muttered gloomily, "Tch... Is my sister even a god, or a straight-up monster...?"
"Well, don't stress about it, brother" Loki stepped forward and gave Thor a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "When you meet the Dwarves, just tell them to forge you a custom weapon specifically designed to kill Hela. Simple."
"Aha! That's genius, Loki! I knew there was a reason you're my favorite brother!" Thor's mood brightened instantly, his usual carefree smile returning.
Watching this exchange, Kagura couldn't help but think: This guy is such an idiot…
"Anyway, the next problem is…" Loki turned toward Kagura, eyes narrowing. "How exactly are we supposed to get to Nidavellir?"
"I know the answer to that!" Thor raised his hand enthusiastically like a schoolboy. "Didn't you learn that dimension magic thingy, Kagura? You know—the one where you draw circles in the air and open portals…?"
"Well… it's not that simple," Kagura scratched her head, feeling a little awkward.
"Opening a portal across such a vast distance with dimensional sorcery requires a seriously complex spell. And if the coordinates are even slightly off… we could end up stranded light-years away in the middle of empty space."
Of course, she could just use the Space Stone to open a portal instantly.
But that came with the same issue—without knowing Nidavellir's exact location, pinpointing the destination was almost impossible.
Still, there was no need to worry too much.
After all, once they got their new weapon, they'd have to head to Asgard anyway.
And going there with just three people? That wouldn't feel grand enough.
"Luckily, this beautiful genius has already prepared for interstellar travel!" Kagura confidently put her hands on her hips and smirked.
"We… are going by spaceship!"
