The next day, Alex Ray waited quietly in the restaurant for the system upgrade.

He decided to brew himself a pot of fragrant tea first, so he could enter health mode and ease his tense nerves.

The tea slowly spread in the cup, emitting a faint aroma.

Alex took a gentle sip, feeling the smoothness and subtle sweetness of the tea fill his mouth.

However, his eyes soon drifted into deep thought.

Yesterday, Nick Fury had threatened him with Hell's Kitchen, which made Alex realize he had to be fully prepared.

He recalled that when he first started with just a restaurant and an apartment, he never imagined things would come to this.

But now, his territory had expanded to encompass the entire Hell's Kitchen, and he had to carefully plan his next moves.

It would be ideal to get shield technology like Wakanda's to encase the whole city.

That way, even if Loki showed up with Thanos' minions, they could resist the assault.

The more Alex pondered, the more convinced he became that this was a solid idea. After all, Wakanda still had abundant vibranium.

Although Alex himself didn't need vibranium, it was undeniably valuable!

Still, he knew this wouldn't be easy.

Wakanda's technology was their unique secret weapon and wouldn't be freely shared. But that was a problem for the future. Alex wasn't in a hurry.

At worst, he could visit them and offer some friendly advice. Wakanda was a place full of Black people, so Alex had no psychological barrier at all.

He believed that with enough patience and determination, one day he would obtain what he wanted.

Thinking this, Alex's mood lifted again.

He continued sipping the tea, enjoying the quiet and peace.

Just then, a man in a suit with silver-rimmed blind glasses walked into the restaurant.

The man came straight toward Alex, who was sipping tea, and asked, "Excuse me, is there any room available for rent here?"

Alex was glad to hear someone was interested in renting. He looked up and said, "Yes, you can rent a place here."

But he frowned as he looked at the man with the silver-rimmed glasses.

Alex thought: "This blind man must be Matt Murdock."

"How did another superhero end up here? My building's almost becoming a gathering spot for heroes."

"Did this guy get kicked out because he couldn't pay rent?"

He quickly added, "I rent out places, but I don't want to rent to you."

Matt frowned at the refusal and asked, "Why? Do you have specific requirements for tenants here?"

Matt didn't understand the rejection. He came to meet the new king of Hell's Kitchen, Alex Ray—the so-called Lord of Hell.

Also, he was short on cash and had been kicked out by his previous landlord, so this was a last-ditch attempt.

Alex set down his teacup calmly and said, "I don't rent to anyone who can't pay the rent." His voice carried a hint of helplessness but also firm resolve.

He already had many tenants who hadn't paid rent. If this continued, his building would soon be filled with homeless people.

Matt looked a little embarrassed but quickly regained composure and explained, "Sir, you may have misunderstood. I'm a lawyer, not someone who can't pay rent."

Alex smiled slightly, his voice taking on an inscrutable tone: "I know all lawyers have stable incomes—except you, Matt Murdock. Or should I say, Daredevil?"

Matt immediately stepped back, eyes wide with surprise: "How do you know my identity?"

He wasn't shocked that Alex knew his name—he was well-known in Hell's Kitchen as a blind lawyer—but he was stunned that Alex knew he was Daredevil.

Daredevil was his secret identity; he often went out at night to fight criminals, including Kingpin's empire.

And now Alex actually knew his secret.

Matt started to worry. Alex was Kingpin's godson. Would that mean trouble for him?

But Alex didn't answer immediately.

He sat quietly on the sofa, staring at Matt deeply.

After a moment, he said slowly, "Don't worry. If we wanted to cause trouble for you, we would have done so long ago."

"You don't think your identity is a secret, do you? How many blind people are there in Hell's Kitchen? And this blind man is capable. We just need a little investigation."

Matt couldn't help feeling annoyed.

He always thought his secret was well hidden, but Alex's words made that seem meaningless.

But Alex's words didn't stop there.

He continued, "Not only do I know, but Uncle Fisk knows too. And when he was retiring, he used you to take down those trying to profit illegally."

That shocked Matt completely.

All his actions were controlled by others; his supposed independence was just a pawn in someone else's game.

In fact, Alex admired Matt.

After traveling through time, Alex had a nearly identical experience.

He was also born and raised in Hell's Kitchen, attended college, and tried to change its status quo.

The only difference was Alex had a system and Uncle Fisk's backing.

Strictly speaking, Alex felt that if he had been a character in his previous life's movie, he would be more villain than hero—not truly good, but not the worst.

But Matt had all the hallmarks of a villain.

Blind, trapped in a hellish world, living a miserable life, bullied since childhood, his girlfriend gone.

He became a lawyer but couldn't even pay rent.

Still, he hoped to change Hell's Kitchen through his own efforts and had the same no-kill principle as Batman.

Even against supervillains, he wanted to judge them through the law.

"This guy is definitely a nerfed version of Batman," Alex thought with a sigh.

Matt laughed bitterly.

He didn't expect the secret he thought well hidden was so exposed to others.

He felt a sting of bitterness, realizing the gap between himself and Alex.

Alex had great vision and mind, capable of changing Hell's Kitchen's entire environment.

Matt could only struggle on its margins.

He accepted this and his failure.

Matt was silent a moment, then sighed deeply.

"Thanks for your answer. I guess I'll keep looking for a place."

There was helplessness and loss in his voice as he turned to leave.

Alex looked at Matt's dejected back, feeling a little reluctant.

He thought, "Oh, I'm still too kind. There are plenty who can't pay. One more won't hurt."

He said, "I've changed my mind. You can stay here for free—but only if you become my employee."

It was as if he was pointing Matt to a new path.

Matt felt a warm current in his chest.

He looked at Alex, confused, not understanding what working for him meant.
