The moment Alex Ray walked out of the restaurant, his brows furrowed.
The streets he once knew were now in utter chaos. The once orderly community had become a boiling pot of confusion—residents panicking, faces etched with fear, helplessness, and despair.
All of it, a direct consequence of the federal government's "stabilization policy." Like a merciless sledgehammer, it had shattered everything they had fought to build.
"Can't we reach out to other media to set the record straight? Hell's Kitchen isn't what they think it is," Pietro said, breaking Alex's train of thought.
His eyes burned with frustration and indignation, as if he were protesting the injustice of the world itself.
Alex turned his head and looked Pietro in the eyes, sighing deeply. "They'll never understand our efforts. All they see is the darkness, the crime. They don't see what we've done to change this place."
Pietro clenched his fists, anger rising. "They can't be this unreasonable!" he growled, his voice tight with fury and pain.
Alex sneered.
Reason? That's the luxury of the weak.
The strong speak with their fists.
Fists are power.
What the federal government didn't realize was who held that power now.
He turned back toward the restaurant, facing Pietro with renewed determination. His eyes sharpened.
"Get ready. A storm's coming."
Pietro's gaze lit up, intense and focused—like a beast poised to pounce.
Deadpool's dog stood at attention and saluted, signaling they were ready.
. . . . . . . . . .
Hell's Kitchen Community College
The atmosphere in the principal's office was heavy with tension.
Doctor Otto Octavius—better known as Doctor Octopus—sat with a resignation letter in hand, a troubled look on his face.
"The situation's getting worse. A lot of teachers and professors have already chosen to resign," he said, glancing around the room. "Some parents are pulling their kids out. They're scared. They don't think their children are safe here anymore."
Frank Castle—the Punisher—punched the wall, rage and helplessness written all over his face.
He'd finally carved out a life here, a chance to see his children every day, to feel something like peace. Now, it was crumbling away thanks to the government's crackdown.
"Damn the Feds," he muttered, hands balled into fists.
Sitting calmly behind the desk, Wilson Fisk—Kingpin and the school's principal—puffed on a cigar. Smoke curled around his unreadable expression.
"How many people are left in the school?" he asked evenly.
Caine sat on the sofa nearby, both hands resting on the hilt of his sword. His voice was low and steady.
"We have around 300 children left. Orphans, mostly—kids with nowhere else to go. Staff-wise, we've got about 30 teachers and security personnel. All our own."
Kingpin nodded, taking another slow drag from his cigar, then exhaled.
"Then the school is yours to protect," he said, looking at Caine. "William, Frank—you're with him."
Caine nodded without hesitation. The burden was heavy, but he would carry it. These children were now under his care. They were his to protect.
"Don't worry. Their future is in my hands," said William Baker—better known as Sandman. His expression was resolute.
He saw reflections of his daughter in these children. Every time he passed the nursery, it hit him again. That's why he'd made his decision—he would stay. Forever, if he had to.
"I won't let anyone mess with my son's life again," Frank said, his voice trembling with conviction. "Even if it costs me mine."
Nick Fury had contacted him the day before, urging him to get his son out immediately.
Frank had asked his son what he wanted.
"If not Hell's Kitchen, then where?" the boy had asked.
Frank had no answer.
Hell's Kitchen wasn't just home to him—it was their home. Leaving meant abandoning everything.
He'd already failed once.
He wasn't going to let it happen again.
Even if the man trying to move him was once his closest friend—Nick Fury.
"Dr. Octavius, want to head back to the apartment with Yinsen? It's safer there," Kingpin offered.
"What, you think we're too old for this?" Yinsen replied, raising a brow. "We're not weak. We're teachers. That means we don't run from the battlefield. We stand and fight."
Doctor Octopus smiled faintly, saying nothing. But Kingpin saw the answer in his eyes.
"Alright then," Kingpin said, rising from his chair. "I'll leave my son in your care. With Wanda and the others watching over Vanessa, I'm not worried."
He turned to leave.
"Principal, where are you going?" Caine asked. "Don't do anything rash. Alex will be devastated if something happens to you."
Kingpin paused.
He turned back slowly, exhaling a thick cloud of smoke.
"I'm the Kingpin of New York's underworld," he said. "I'm retired. Not dead. Some people have forgotten who I am—and that's a mistake."
His voice dripped with power, a heavy reminder of the days when he ruled the criminal underworld with an iron fist.
There were things Alex Ray wouldn't—or couldn't—do. And that's what godfathers were for.
When it came to fear, intimidation, and control, Wilson Fisk was an expert.
He knew how to make enemies shake. He knew how to force them to beg.
And now, it was time to remind the world that even in retirement, the Kingpin still cast a long shadow.
If the government had forgotten what it meant to threaten Hell's Kitchen, then Kingpin was more than happy to make them remember.
Only this time, the price of forgetting would be far greater.
