The atmosphere in the lobby of the Hand's headquarters was tense and solemn.

Ever since Alex Ray killed Madam Gao and Murakami in the battle for Hell's Kitchen, the Hand's power had declined significantly. Now, only the core members of the Three Fingers remained.

Bakuto, representing one of the Fingers, broke the silence first.

There was a cold glint in his eyes, as if it could freeze the entire hall.

"I'm sure you've all heard the news. The federal government is preparing to eradicate Hell's Kitchen."

His voice was low and authoritative, imbued with an undeniable force.

Sowande, representing another Finger, remained relatively composed.

He cast a sideways glance at Bakuto, a mocking smile tugging at his lips. "So what now? Are we going to take on Hell's Kitchen alongside the damn feds?"

His tone was tinged with contempt, clearly unimpressed by the idea.

"Let's not forget—both the federal government and Hell's Kitchen are our enemies. Let them destroy each other," Sowande added, his eyes gleaming with cunning, as if he had already calculated the outcome.

Sowande wasn't interested in vendettas. For him, revenge never outweighed profit. The optimal strategy was letting the two forces wear each other down—it was the surest way to maximize their own gain.

Just as tension flared between the two, Alexandra Reid, the supreme leader of the Hand, finally spoke.

Her voice was calm yet commanding, imbued with a subtle charm that demanded attention.

"I've found new information about the dragon bones."

The moment she spoke those words, the entire hall fell silent.

"What?! Dragon bones?!" Sowande sprang to his feet, his face twisted in disbelief.

To individuals like them, dragon bones represented limitless power and prolonged life.

They had once been exiled from K'un-Lun for attempting to use the fossilized remains of dragons to artificially extend their lifespans.

One of the very reasons they'd founded the Hand was to locate the whereabouts of those remains.

Bakuto's impatience was visible. He leaned forward, his voice thick with urgency. "Where?"

His tone trembled ever so slightly—he could hardly wait to seize the dragon bones' power.

At long last, the opportunity had arrived. How could they not be anxious?

But Alexandra didn't answer immediately. Instead, she swirled the red wine in her glass, as if savoring the moment like a connoisseur of triumph.

Her eyes held a mysterious glint. "If we find them and use them properly, we'll gain limitless power and eternal life."

"The location is Hell's Kitchen."

At that, Bakuto's face lit up with unrestrained glee.

He had always thirsted for revenge, and the dragon bones were his ticket.

Sowande, however, frowned. He understood the chaotic nature of Hell's Kitchen—and he knew war would be inevitable.

Both men turned toward Alexandra, awaiting her final judgment.

She inhaled deeply, aware that her next decision would determine the fate of everything they'd worked toward.

"We must go to Hell's Kitchen. If we wait for the federal government to burn it to the ground, we'll lose our chance forever," she said with steely resolve.

Both Bakuto and Sowande scowled.

They knew she was right. If the government's military might descended on Hell's Kitchen, there would be nothing left—not even bones.

After all, the federal government's cutting-edge weaponry wasn't something to be taken lightly.

"So... are we supposed to help Alex Ray and his little gang?" Bakuto asked, visibly reluctant.

He had no interest in aiding Alex Ray. The risk was simply too high.

Besides, if the outside world learned that the Hand had done such a thing, they'd be ridiculed.

But Alexandra shook her head. "Who said anything about helping Alex Ray?"

She smiled, her eyes sharp with calculation. "Inform the federal congressmen we have close ties with. Tell them we're offering our support. No compensation needed. But once it's over, we want a portion of Hell's Kitchen—land, for real estate development."

Bakuto and Sowande exchanged glances, smiles creeping across their faces.

They immediately grasped Alexandra's plan. By backing their congressional contacts, they could secure a parcel of land—specifically the part where the dragon bones were buried.

This way, they could recover the bones while simultaneously establishing real estate control. Two birds, one stone.

"No problem!" the two agreed enthusiastically.

Alexandra's real estate angle was brilliant. With development as a cover, they could excavate freely and without suspicion.

. . . . . . . .

At S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters…

Captain Marvel—Carol Danvers—was introducing an old acquaintance to Nick Fury.

"This is Ikaris, an old friend of mine," Carol said, gesturing toward the tall man beside her.

Fury, the seasoned director of S.H.I.E.L.D., raised an eyebrow and looked the man up and down.

He turned back to Carol with a smirk. "Your 'friend'?"

Carol, clearly uncomfortable under his gaze, sighed. "Fine. Ex-boyfriend."

Ikaris shrugged with a helpless smile, making no effort to deny it.

He had no desire to be involved in this situation. As an Eternal, it wasn't his place to meddle in mortal conflicts.

But Carol had been insistent—so persistent, in fact, that he hadn't been able to refuse.

Nick Fury, ever the skeptic, narrowed his eye. "So why bring your ex to my war room? This ain't a dating app."

Carol exhaled and answered with calm gravity, "I brought him because we need his help. And he wouldn't have come if I hadn't asked—repeatedly."

"Oh?" Fury arched a brow, turning to examine Ikaris more thoroughly.

Sure, the guy was tall, good-looking… but Fury had yet to see anything that made him believe this Eternal was capable of dealing with Alex Ray.

He doubted the man could tip the scales in their favor.

Ikaris, sensing the doubt in Fury's gaze, began to rise, preparing to leave. He had no interest in justifying himself.

"Sit," Carol said sharply. "If you leave, I'll tell Sersi about us."

Ikaris paused.

At the mention of Sersi, his expression faltered. He sighed and slowly sat back down.

Sersi—his former wife—was also an Eternal. Though they'd separated long ago, Ikaris still held deep affection for her.

"Relax. Just leave Alex Ray to us," Carol said with conviction.

The determination in her voice finally seemed to sway Fury.

Watching the two prepare to leave, Fury grabbed his phone and barked an order.

"I want everything we have on that man. Now."
