Fifty-three!
Eric's heart skipped a beat.
This wasn't a small number, and the amount of money earned each day was far from insignificant.
Though he didn't know exactly how much the children would leave behind or the original price of the flowers, he knew for sure that the amount was substantial.
He'd swear on the multiplication tables his dad taught him as a kid!
The two were silent, their moods heavy.
Previously, they had seen mutants being persecuted, but this time, they were witnessing mutants harming others.
It reminded them that no matter the group, there were both good and bad individuals.
They recalled what Mike had said to them earlier and sighed softly.
After paying the fare, they got out of the taxi, standing before a luxurious hotel, though their hearts felt a pang of discomfort.
Scum like that lived in such a nice place, while those children were suffering.
Suddenly, Eric grabbed Charles' arm and said, "Wait, shouldn't we call Dad to help solve this?"
"Uh, this isn't really something we need to bother Dad with, is it?" Charles said with a disdainful look, then added, "Don't you remember what we did on Devil Island? How we worked together to take down those criminals? Don't you miss the feeling of being super agents?"
Eric thought for a moment, feeling the adrenaline rush, and said, "Let's go! Let's take that bastard down!"
Skreeeeech!
At that moment, the harsh sound of tires screeching filled the air as a flashy yellow sports car screeched to a halt not far from them.
Their steps faltered, and they turned to look.
A man wearing sunglasses at night and a neat suit, radiating a sense of wildness, got out of the car. He walked to the other side, opened the door, and a stunning, seductive blonde woman stepped out.
The two of them kissed, oblivious to their surroundings, as the man waved to the valet and tossed the keys toward him. Together, like conjoined twins, they walked toward the hotel.
Charles and Eric frowned. Charles felt like he'd seen this annoying guy before.
As they were wondering where, the man gently pushed the woman aside and turned his attention toward Charles and Eric.
His brows furrowed as he looked at their somewhat familiar, yet irritating faces, quickly racking his brain.
Suddenly, he snapped his fingers, removed his sunglasses, and shouted, "You two little punks!"
Eric and Charles stared at each other, taken aback, then both exclaimed at once.
"The beggar?"
"The milk delivery guy?"
Tony Stark: (sigh)
Sure enough, these two brats still talk like that.
"Hehe."
Looking at the expressions of the three, the tall, slender blonde woman, who was about 1.8 meters tall, couldn't help but chuckle.
Tony Stark let go of the woman's hand, approached Charles and Eric, and looked down at them from his superior height.
"Tsk, out here at this hour? Did you run away from home? Or did your parents kick you out?"
Charles and Eric stared at Tony, eyes narrowed.
Tony sneered, pulled out his wallet, and tossed some money at them. "Go back home, quick."
He was trying to help, but his attitude made it all incredibly irritating.
Charles and Eric exchanged a glance. Charles picked up the money, and Eric, in one swift motion, kicked Tony in the knee.
"Ah!"
Tony yelped in pain, instinctively bending forward.
Charles shoved the money into Tony's collar and, with a look of disdain, said, "Uncle, maybe you should use that money to buy some milk!"
With that, the two dashed into the hotel, leaving Tony glaring at them.
Watching the scene unfold, the tall woman gasped and quickly ran to Tony. "Are you okay, Mr. Stark?"
"I'm fine!" Tony grumbled, holding his knee and sucking in a sharp breath. "Just tying my shoe."
The woman glanced at Tony's shoes…
Where's your shoelace?
Of course, he wasn't about to expose his own lie.
He helped Tony up, and the two of them walked intimately toward the hotel.
"That shameless old man actually mistook us for beggars."
"Though, he was quite generous with his money."
"Even if he's generous, he's still a jerk."
Eric grumbled lightly.
"Enough, let's go find that bastard."
Charles said, releasing his powers as he began searching for their target.
When he used his telepathy, mutants and humans felt different in his perception, making it easier for him to identify his target.
However, he had a simpler method.
He went directly to the front desk, using his ability to help the receptionist with a small task.
They took the elevator to the 16th floor, and began searching for the right room.
1609!
Seeing the room number, their eyes lit up.
Eric took a deep breath and asked, "Are you ready?"
"Not really!"
Charles seemed nervous.
Eric looked at him, exasperated. "Hurry up and sense how many people are in there and what they're doing!"
Charles nodded, extending his hand to his temple.
"Two people, a man and a woman... They're... hugging."
"Then control the target!"
Before Eric finished speaking, Charles's expression suddenly changed. "He noticed us."
The target was named Walker. They had suspected that his abilities were related to telepathy, and now it seemed that was indeed the case.
When Charles tried to take control, he was immediately discovered.
However, there was still a gap in their abilities. Although Charles had been noticed, he managed to retain control of the target.
At that moment, Charles urgently said, "Hurry! The woman is a mutant too, and she's trying to help him escape!"
Eric's gaze shifted. With a flick of his hand, the door silently opened, and the two rushed inside.
They saw the woman, already carrying Walker and heading toward the balcony. Eric snorted softly. He clenched his hand, and the metal in the room responded, flying in front of her. In her terrified gaze, the metal blocked her path, forcing her back.
She turned to face Eric and Charles, her eyes filled with surprise, before she let out a relieved sigh.
It was just two kids.
She threw Walker onto the bed, only wearing lingerie, covered in tattoos. She licked her lips and said, "Little boys, barging into someone's home without permission? That's not very well-behaved."
As she spoke, the tattoos on her back seemed to come to life, slowly moving and transforming into a massive tiger that landed on the ground. At the same time, several poisonous snakes fell from her arms.
Charles shuddered, stepping back. He turned to Eric and said, "This is your fight."
Eric grunted softly. With a wave of his hand, the door behind them slammed shut. The metal in the room began to stir violently.
Just then, Tony, carrying the blonde woman, walked over. They stopped in front of the door to their room. Tony glanced at the opposite Room 1609, his face contorted in a strange expression.
"That's quite a lot of noise," he remarked.
The woman leaned over to Tony, biting his ear. "Hurry, Mr. Stark!"
He could hardly wait.
