Marvel: I am Jean's Apprentice.

Chapter seventy three:

Hearing Jean Grey say that loves me was a dream come true. It's been two weeks now and I can't believe it. I've always worried that one day we'd move to fast and then she'd panic and leave me. I know that's my insecurities talking but it's all new to me. Today Jean Grey and I were going to see her family. Jean Grey hadn't been there since training and she was dreading it. I offered to go with her for emotional support. When she spoke about them you could see the pain in her eyes. I knew Laura was important to her so I wanted to make a good impression. Jean Grey told me the best way to get Nathan to like me was to play baseball with him.

Billy, Tommy, Pietro and I waited in the foyer for her to arrive.

"She is going to need you today." Said Billy Maximoff.

"I know I got her." I replied.

I supported Jean Grey after Agent Barton died. He believed in her after New York, it was going to be a hard day for her. Jean Grey then walked up behind us.

"Alright let's get this show on the road." Said Jean Grey.

The boys and I followed her in silence not knowing what to say. The boys and Pietro let me sit next to her on the plane.

The air was tense. So I decided to lighten the mood. "Is it bad that I find you flying this jet incredibly cute?" I replied joking with Jean Grey.

Jean Grey just rolled her eyes at me.

"I'm trying to concentrate here. I'm finding all this affection very distracting." Said Jean Grey.

"I was going to sit on your lap but I think I'll stay where I am." I replied.

"Oh god for a second I forgot what it was like to be your son." Said Billy Maximoff.

As we approached the house it was quiet. Jean Grey then exited the jet and I held her hand to reassure her that I was there for her. The boys just smiled at her supporting her as well.

Jean Grey was nervous. She hadn't seen her mom in a while. Maybe today would be the day she could look at her in the eyes. Natasha had the boys, Pietro and I for support. When we got off the jet Nathan hugged Jean Grey.

"Hey Nate this is Travis Maximoff and her son's. You know Travis likes baseball too. Would you like him to play with you later?" Said Jean Grey.

"Yes please. Will you play with us too?" Replied Nathan.

"Of course." Said Jean Grey.

Elaine then came out to greet us. "Hey Jean. It's good to see you again." Replied Laura.

"It's good to see you too. You remember Travis Maximoff." Said Jean Grey.

"It's nice to see you Travis. So you're the famous Scarlet Warlock?" Replied Laura.

"I'm famous?" I replied.

"Very. I'll tell you all about it later on." Said Jean Grey.

We all sat down around the table outside and Laura started to embarrass Jean Grey. I then showed her the bracelet Jean Grey got for me.

"Who knew Jean was romantic?" Replied Laura.

"Honestly watching them kiss is disgusting." Said Billy Maximoff.

"Pietro! Come on Travis wants you to play with us." Said Jean Grey.

Pietro then grabbed my hand and we ran outside together. Laura made a BBQ for lunch. Seeing Jean Grey and the boys made my heart melt.

"You enjoying yourself Travis?" Replied Jean Grey.

"Yeah I am actually." I said.

Nathan then ran over to us. "Jean can we play some more after lunch?" Replied Nathan.

"Of course Nate. Maybe Billy and Tommy will join us." Said Jean Grey.

"I didn't know that you were good with kids." I replied.

"There's a lot of things that you don't know about me Travis." Said Jean Grey.

"Would you ever want more kids?" I replied.

"Yeah I think I would. What about you?" Said Jean Grey.

"Maybe one day." I replied before grabbing her hand.

We then spent the rest of the afternoon playing baseball. And it was nice spending time with them without the constant guilt of the Darkhold eating away at me.
