Chapter 23: Chapter 21: Hermione's Prophecy

Hermione looked at Nick Fury.

"Is this Stark a good person?"

Nick Fury hesitated briefly before nodding decisively, "Yes, he is a good person."

Though he sells arms, is a womanizer, and is arrogant, he's fundamentally a good man.

As the only son of Howard Stark, one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s founders, and a renowned genius scientist, Tony Stark must be rescued, both emotionally and for his value.

Although the military was responsible for his protection, S.H.I.E.L.D. is fully cooperating in the search and rescue effort.

Hermione nodded, "Alright, I'll help you this time."

"You have a way?!"

Nick Fury was genuinely surprised.

He had been grasping at straws but never expected to find a solution.

"I can't locate him directly," Hermione admitted.

This was true. In the movie, we only know he was held in a cave in the Afghan desert, but the specific location was never mentioned.

"Then how..." Nick Fury was puzzled.

Before he could finish, Hermione interrupted, "But I can foresee his future. I might see something useful, but I'll need your help."

What!!!

Did they hear that correctly? Foresee the future?

Nick Fury, Natasha, and Coulson were all taken aback, staring at Hermione in disbelief.

Every time they thought they understood Hermione, she would upend their understanding once again.

"What do you need us to do?"

Nick Fury was the first to recover.

"Get me a crystal ball. It must be clear and free of any impurities," Hermione instructed.

A crystal ball?

Images of fortune tellers with crystal balls, deceiving people in TV shows, flashed through their minds.

But Hermione wasn't imitating them.

They quickly dismissed the thought.

Despite her youth, she was a genuine wizard, incomparable to those charlatans.

"Anything else?"

"I don't have enough magic power to foresee the future of someone I've never met. I need someone close to him to see his future."

Nick Fury: ???

Miss Wizard, are you kidding me?

If I could bring Tony himself to you, would I need your prediction?

You put it that way, what now?

Realizing the ambiguity of her words, Hermione sheepishly scratched her head and stuck out her tongue.

"I didn't explain it well. While I can't foresee Stark's future, I can do so for someone close to him. Can't I predict their future?"

The trio suddenly understood Hermione's point.

By foreseeing the future of someone close to Tony Stark, they could indirectly confirm his safety if he appeared in their future.

Though they couldn't pinpoint his location, they could confirm his safety, which was just as valuable.

Nick Fury's face flushed slightly, though his dark complexion concealed it.

They hadn't even considered this straightforward solution, outsmarted by a child's quick thinking.

"Who is close to Tony Stark?" Natasha pondered.

His parents were deceased, he had no siblings, and his arrogance often alienated others. With such a personality, who could be close to him?

Certainly not a former cover girl.

Suddenly, Natasha seemed to recall something and whispered to Fury.

Nick Fury nodded after listening, "Invite her over."

With no other requirements, Coulson quickly arranged it.

Soon after, an agent entered with a crystal ball in hand.

"Place it on the table," Hermione instructed calmly.

The agent glanced at Fury, who nodded, "Do as she says."

The agent complied.

Shortly after, a woman in a business suit, looking somewhat fatigued, was ushered in.

"I heard you can find Tony?"

The woman asked directly upon entering.

Nick Fury replied, "Indeed, but we need your help, Miss Potts."

Pepper Potts, known as "Pepper," nodded, appearing a bit agitated.

"As long as it helps find Tony, I'll assist. Please ensure his safe return."

Exhaustion was etched on her face.

As Tony Stark's personal assistant, she'd been sleepless since his disappearance. She'd exhausted all avenues to locate him, to no avail.

While managing Tony's affairs, she also navigated the company's daily operations, leaving her physically and mentally spent. She longed for Tony's safe return.

She also knew their relationship went beyond just boss and secretary.

"Rest assured, Miss Potts," Nick Fury assured her. "S.H.I.E.L.D. wouldn't make such a claim without confidence. But we're not leading the search; we're assisting you."

"Huh? If not you, then who?"

Pepper was surprised. If not an agency like S.H.I.E.L.D., who else could do it?

The military?

If they were reliable, Tony wouldn't have been kidnapped.

Nick Fury gestured to Hermione, who was examining the crystal ball.

"Her."

Pepper was taken aback.

A young girl, perhaps eleven or twelve, stood before her.

And she wore a black robe—was she cosplaying an evil wizard?

"You mean... she'll find Tony?"

Pepper looked at Nick Fury incredulously.

"How will she do it?"

Doubt crept into her eyes.

"With magic." Nick Fury's expression remained unchanged.

Taking a deep breath, Pepper resisted the urge to leave and said coldly, "I'm not here for jokes."

Nick Fury felt helpless but patiently explained, "She'll use her magic, specifically prophecy, to find Stark."

"If you invited me here for entertainment, congratulations. I have responsibilities at the company. If there's nothing else, I'll take my leave."

Disappointment clouded Pepper's eyes as she turned to leave.

As she approached the door, it slammed shut with a "boom."

Pepper spun around angrily, only to see the young girl pointing a small black wand at her.

"All set!"

In the next moment, she was immobilized by an inexplicable force.

Her thoughts were clear, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't move, as if someone had pressed pause on her.
