Chapter 112: CHAPTER 112
Star-Lord coughed and glanced at his companions.
Rocket Raccoon raised his laser cannon and aimed at Ego, who was already beginning to regenerate.
"I knew you were bad news," Rocket sneered. "Having a father like you has to be the most unfortunate thing in the entire universe."
"If you want to kill our crew, you'll have to get through us first."
He loaded his laser cannon.
Drax the Destroyer drew his twin daggers from his belt.
Groot let out a fierce roar.
"I am Groot!"
Ego smirked.
"Then you all can die."
A countless number of stone-covered energy arms formed around them, lunging toward the Guardians of the Galaxy.
---
Meanwhile, on a planet several light-years away from Ego, Rhodes was drinking tea with Hela.
Suddenly, Rhodes frowned.
"Huh. So soon? That old man really has no patience."
Hela arched an eyebrow.
"What's wrong? What happened?"
"Those guys found Ego. And now he's showing his true colors."
Rhodes stood up.
"It's time for us to step in."
He reached for Hela, and in an instant, they teleported directly to Ego's planet.
As long as he knew the coordinates, Rhodes could arrive anywhere in an instant.
---
Back on Ego's planet, the Guardians were locked in a desperate battle.
Star-Lord donned his combat mask and fired his twin laser pistols relentlessly at the incoming energy arms.
Rocket Raccoon pulled several disc-shaped devices from his pocket.
With a quick press, they deployed into an intricate web of red bombs, wrapping around a dozen of the energy arms.
Rocket smirked and pressed the detonator.
The bomb nets exploded in rapid succession.
Rocket Raccoon quickly activated his light-blue energy barrier, shielding himself from the explosion's shockwave before tumbling to the ground.
Meanwhile, Drax and Groot engaged in direct combat.
Within seconds, Ego's energy arms sent them both flying.
However, the two bruisers were tough. They rolled across the ground, but immediately stood back up, ready to charge again.
Drax let out a battle cry and lunged forward—only to be sent flying again a moment later.
The entire battlefield was in chaos.
But it was clear that, no matter how fiercely they fought, the Guardians were no match for Ego.
Rocket's advanced weaponry held its own for a while, but eventually, an energy arm caught him and sent him crashing into the dirt.
Star-Lord fought valiantly, blasting through dozens of energy arms with precision shots, using his jet-boosters to maneuver midair.
But just as he landed, an energy arm erupted from the ground, coiling tightly around him.
Before he could react, his hands and feet were bound.
The arm slammed him into the ground with immense force.
Then, dozens more energy arms wrapped around him.
Ego smirked.
The arms began to drain Star-Lord's celestial power.
"Aaahhh—!" Quill screamed in agony.
Rocket and the others saw what was happening and rushed to save him.
But hundreds of energy arms shot up from the ground, blocking their path.
"Dammit!" Rocket cursed.
At the rate Ego was absorbing Star-Lord's power, Quill would be completely drained in less than two minutes.
Suddenly—
A massive beam of energy tore through the battlefield.
Its target: Ego.
In the blink of an eye, the entire palace behind him was obliterated.
Ego staggered, momentarily dazed by the sudden attack.
His body flickered as the blue energy of his celestial form struggled to reform.
Then, he turned in shock.
Rhodes had arrived.
Rhodes waved his hand, and in an instant, all of Ego's energy arms shattered into nothingness.
The Guardians, including Star-Lord, collapsed to the ground near Rhodes, freed from Ego's grasp.
Star-Lord and the others looked up in astonishment.
Rhodes had actually saved them.
"Rhodes!" Quill gasped, eyes wide with relief.
Rhodes smirked.
"Congratulations on finding Ego," he said. "You're free now."
Quill, however, looked heartbroken.
Finding his father had been a dream for years. But now, he had to accept the horrifying truth—his own father had tried to kill him.
Rhodes stepped forward.
Ego, though powerful, could sense that Rhodes was no ordinary opponent.
Ego's eyes narrowed.
"Who are you?" he growled. "How dare you interfere with my affairs? Do you have a death wish?"
Rhodes didn't even flinch.
"Kill me?" He chuckled. "You think you can?"
Then, his expression darkened.
"You're one hell of a failure as a father, Ego."
The furious Ego didn't expect someone to appear at this moment and ruin his plans.
In the next instant, he controlled countless energy arms to attack Rhodes.
"Don't be so arrogant, okay?"
A moment later, a powerful beam of destructive light completely disintegrated Ego's molecular clone.
Ego looked at Rhodes in horror. His strength was overwhelming.
However, this level of attack was still incapable of harming Ego himself.
Ego manipulated the molecules around him, forming countless molecular clones. No matter how many times they were destroyed, it did nothing to his true body.
"You can't kill me," Ego declared.
Yet, his words carried an underlying sense of helplessness. Deep down, he knew he couldn't do anything to Rhodes either.
His attacks and energy manipulation couldn't even get close to Rhodes. The divine power he wielded was simply insufficient before Rhodes' might.
"Oh? Really? Do you think I don't know your weakness?" Rhodes smirked. "Do you want me to look into your brain for you?"
At that moment, Rhodes' energy had already locked onto Ego's hidden brain within the planet.
With just a little effort, Rhodes could obliterate Ego's brain—wiping him and this planet out in an instant.
"No... how do you know this?" Ego stammered.
He could feel it—his brain, concealed deep within the planet, was on the verge of destruction, constantly threatened by Rhodes' energy.
"Isn't this something everyone knows?" Rhodes replied casually. "I'll give you a fun little multiple-choice question. Either your brain gets destroyed, or you submit to my will and serve me."
Ego's most vulnerable point was now entirely at Rhodes' mercy.
He dared not refuse.
With a look of utter despair, Ego's molecular clone dropped to its knees.
Rhodes wasted no time and unleashed his immense spiritual power, forcefully invading Ego's mind.
Controlling Ego's molecular clones was meaningless—after all, Ego's true form was this planet, and at its core was his brain.
By seizing control of Ego's brain, Rhodes would control everything about him.
With his overwhelming psychic power, Rhodes shattered Ego's mental defenses and swiftly took over his consciousness.
Across various planets, Ego's molecular clones collapsed simultaneously, screaming in agony.
Before long, Ego's brain radiated a golden hue.
Now, it was completely infused with the power of the sun, belonging solely to Rhodes.
With Ego and his entire planet fully under his control, Rhodes now had a more obedient servant than any remote device could provide.
Even though Ego's divine power had been completely consumed by Rhodes' solar energy, he remained alive. This meant that the divine power within Star-Lord still existed.
Rhodes reshaped Ego's planet to his liking.
From now on, this world would be known as Rhodes' Planet.
Here, he was the absolute ruler.
He erased all of Ego's previous structures and replaced them with luxurious villas, styled precisely to his taste.
Turning to Star-Lord and the others, Rhodes reassured them,
"Alright, you can relax now. Ego is completely under my control, so you can stay here without worry. And don't worry—I won't take your divine power."
The sheer might of Rhodes had left the Guardians of the Galaxy completely stunned.
Even Ego, who had once seemed unstoppable, had been subdued with ease.
Naturally, Rhodes wouldn't ignore the divine energy within Star-Lord, but for now, he was being generous.
"Thank you, Lord Rhodes," Star-Lord said respectfully.
"You're welcome," Rhodes replied. "Ego's previous offer still stands—this place is your home. If you want, you can live here and enjoy your time as much as you like."
"You can even continue soaking in your bath."
"Oh, yeah..."
Rocket Raccoon and the others cheered excitedly.
Groot, sitting straight in the water with a towel on his head, looked like an old man in a bathhouse.
Rhodes and Hela decided to stay on Ego's planet for a while to recover.
It turned out to be the perfect place for Hela to rest and prepare for her child's arrival.
