Chapter 19: 019 If You Hit Him, You Can’T Hit Me~
"Hey, kid!"
The mutant known as Sean, nicknamed Siryn, said coldly:
"Before you play the hero, maybe look at the situation."
"This girl is Lady Cassandra's prey. You'd best mind your own business!"
Anyone in this part of the Void knows how terrifying that woman is.
He was certain this newcomer would make the smart choice.
At that moment, Jimmy patted Siryn's shoulder and scolded lightly:
"Don't be so harsh. You're making us look like villains. Don't forget—we're not with the Brotherhood anymore."
Then he turned to Russell, who stood not far away, put on a friendly smile, and said sincerely:
"Brother."
"There are a lot of women in the Void. Sleeping with someone for one night doesn't mean true love."
"Why not come back with us to the base? We'll credit this capture to all three of us."
"When Lady Cassandra removes this little wolf girl's claws, the rest is yours to play with. And when you're tired of her, you can sell her for a good price."
Hearing this, Laura's heart sank silently.
One option was a high-risk battle.
The other was joining a powerful organization in the Void, earning rewards… and sacrificing herself.
It sounded like an easy choice.
Most people wouldn't refuse.
Siryn still looked angry, clearly displeased.
Jimmy waited patiently for Russell's answer, still smiling.
Russell stayed silent, as if considering the offer.
The forest fell quiet again.
A few seconds later, Russell let out a sigh and showed a conflicted expression.
"I was going to say yes… but now I feel like you're thinking too small."
"A little girl without claws? Not much fun."
He looked at Jimmy and added casually:
"How about this—you get on your knees and beg."
"I'm soft-hearted. Maybe I'll upgrade you into a shiny new Iron Man. That crazy lady might just fall in love with you."
"And then your fire-powered captain, the one you're so jealous of, will bow down and kiss your boots."
The smile vanished from Jimmy's face.
Everything he'd said earlier had been a lie.
But clearly, this guy hadn't believed a word of it—and now he was acting like a complete madman.
Jimmy stepped back.
Siryn sneered and stepped forward.
Damn it. Every time we act together, I end up cleaning up your mess!
Stupid clone—your intelligence must be split too!
"You little punk!" Siryn growled, glaring at Russell.
"You want to play the hero? I'm going to drain you dry!"
As soon as the words left his mouth, Siryn's thinning red hair turned gray, and his face paled.
At this moment, he looked less like a mutant and more like a vampire.
And it was because of this grotesque transformation that he'd been marked by the TVA.
On the ground, Laura's expression turned to panic.
She was deeply moved by Russell stepping in—but terrified he'd die because of her.
This mutant's ability was strange. Even Russell's strength might not help.
"Go…" she whispered, trying to warn him.
"Go?" Siryn sneered. "Wishful thinking!"
Then, he opened his mouth.
In an instant, concentric rings of visible sound waves exploded outward, surging toward Russell.
The sonic burst traveled just below the speed of sound—fast enough to cripple anyone unprepared.
Jimmy was confident. Anyone who didn't know about Siryn's power would be caught completely off guard.
Maybe this fight could end quickly.
But before Jimmy's grin could fully form, it froze.
Confusion filled his eyes.
The sonic wave missed entirely, smashing a tree behind Russell.
The man had leapt the moment Siryn opened his mouth—almost like he had seen the attack coming.
Siryn's face twisted in disbelief.
"You know me? You know my ability?!"
Standing on a branch, Russell tilted his head and said:
"Not really."
"Bald British guys like you are pretty hard to forget, but I don't remember anyone this ugly."
Siryn was about to explode. The thing he hated most—was being called bald!
"You're dead!!"
Another sonic wave roared out.
But no matter how fast the attack, it still had a tell—he had to inhale, charge, and aim.
With Spider-Sense, Russell could easily dodge.
In the forest, explosions echoed as Siryn chased Russell, roaring and launching blast after blast like a deranged banshee.
BOOM! BOOM!
Several trees were shattered. Siryn's cloak suddenly ballooned behind him—then he launched himself forward like a cannonball, sound waves spiraling around him.
He rocketed toward Russell, who was mid-air.
"You like jumping, huh?!"
"Let's see you dodge this one!!"
He howled, preparing to smash Russell into pieces.
On the ground, Laura's eyes went bloodshot with rage.
"No!!"
She tried to stand. A surge of strength came from nowhere.
But the Magician's neurotoxin still lingered.
She collapsed again with a thud, her chin and face smearing into the mud.
She had never hated her own weakness more than at this moment—for dragging someone else into her hell.
Then—
A soft chuckle echoed through the woods.
"You ever heard of Spider-Man terrain?"
A glowing purple web streaked through the air like a shooting star, latching onto a nearby tree.
Just as Siryn, wrapped in high-energy sound waves, was about to strike—
Russell was yanked sideways by invisible force and dodged in mid-air!
Siryn flew past—eyes wide in shock—and was suddenly stopped cold.
Splurch! Splurch! Splurch!
A series of purple spiderwebs covered his face!
"What the hell?!"
Siryn clawed at the sticky strands, trying to tear them away.
Before he could open his eyes again, he heard Jimmy's shout:
"Watch out!!"
Watch out? For what?
He opened his eyes—and realized exactly what.
A foot, wrapped in battle armor, filled his vision—
At size 9, maybe size 10.
BANG!!
Siryn was launched through the forest.
Before he could recover, another blow struck.
From behind—then from above—then from the side.
Far away, Jimmy stood frozen in horror.
He watched the man—clearly a Spider-Man variant—launching web after web, leaping and weaving through the woods like a phantom.
His teammate, Siryn—
Couldn't even fight back.
He couldn't even control his own body.
Like a ragdoll, he was beaten again and again from every angle, crying out in pain.
Then, with a final uppercut, BANG!
Siryn was kicked into the air, spinning helplessly.
Somewhere above, a glowing purple web had been woven.
Siryn, cloak spread wide, was slammed into the center like a moth on a spider's trap—motionless, head drooping.
And in the next second—
A shadow descended.
A terrifyingly grinning face hung upside down before Jimmy and said, in a voice full of eerie cheer:
"Brother... it's your turn now~"
