Chapter 18: Chapter 17 Continental
"Venom we don't have much of a choice, protect me from shrapnel" David said as his eyes glowed with red shooting out a long line of laser cutting through a section of the missiles aiming at him, but they were to close to him so he still couldn't escape.
These missiles cut by the laser vision simply began falling into the sea without exploding, while some impacted other missiles deviating them off course.
David kept going as he lazered another huge chunk of the missiles.
When the missiles were about 300 meters away from him, David took a very deep breath as he blew out the air he had inhaled.
A large amount of Missiles nearly a hundred were encased in ice yet the explosions still occurred.
Due to the impact with the ice.
The ice shattered and flew everywhere.
The missiles around David that were only 100 meters away now all exploded.
"DAMN IT BURNS" Venom shouted but didn't retreat, it's tendrils extending outwards as they slapped away the countless shrapnel in the sky all coming for David.
The only thing David could do was to whether through the force of the explosions, and the fire of the 200 missiles exploding on him.
The sudden launch of a large number of missiles had instantly attracted the attention of large organizations and countries around the world.
They looked at the alarm sound of the monitoring system in amazement and noticed the strange occurrences happening in the Arctic Ocean.
"This...what is this?! These missiles are all high yield and they are attacking Superman?!"
Some people monitoring the situation were quick to point out.
Almost all of the high level organisation and governments were aware about Superman, it was impossible not to.
But the control over the spread of news out of America about Superman was very good which left the public outside of America relatively unaware about Superman.
Many high-level officials were shocked and watched this scene in amazement.
They had view from satellites, the amount of missiles made it hard to see what exactly was going on.
But occasionally a long red laser would appear cutting several missiles like butter.
Ice, the size of Icebergs were created out of thin air encasing and colliding against a large amount of missiles.
Explosions happening, flames everywhere as the chain reaction occurred and the rest of the missiles set off.
This was also over international waters so no matter how much Fury struggled to stop the news, it spread like wildfire, as well connected news channels were broadcasting everything live from satellites they borrowed.
The World watched there TV's, phones, billboards and were introduced to the being called Superman.
A seemingly invincible human currently under s bombardment strong enough level entire major cities.
Some people with a sharp eye even noticed the several black tendrils extending out of Superman and moving around David at extremely high speeds.
David who was braving through the intense flames and shockwaves of the exploding missiles came to a realization.
He realized that his body was unexpectedly though, when he was not stopping freefalling rockets moving at speeds well above Mach 10 or letting four powerful symbiotes have a brawl inside his body.
It was hot but it barely affected David, the damaged were enough regenerate from within the hour.
"It's a pity, I think I'll miss my date" David murmured as the flames kept engulfing him.
"IS THAT WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT AT A TIME LIKE THIS!!" Venom shouted in David's ear.
Venom at this point could not do anything towards the debris as the flame were a major weakness of the symbiotes in general.
"C'mon Venom, you realize this as well, these flames and impacts, can't really do much damage to me" David communicated using his mind as the sounds of explosions was just to loud.
Venom was silent for a while, as it stopped panicking and actually began looking at David's body.
The most damage he was taking was at most first degree burns.
The quantity of these rockets were a lot but there firepower alone was lacking.
David's eyes looked around as he noticed a few missiles that were still yet to explode heading towards him through the flames.
His eyes glowed with a blazing red as he shot the lasers cutting through these missiles, he blew a thick layer of ice around himself, to try and protect himself.
It held on for a few seconds before it was destroyed by the explosions so David gave up that idea and just took the flame and explosions head on.
He glanced at the system and smile couldn't help but bloom on his face.
"Why are you smiling, that's creepy stop it!" Venom immediately snarled at David, unable to see the system notifications.
[Ding! Congratulations, Commander, you have completed a major national event, and the prestige level has broken through to the continental level: 0/10000 [Complete at least one major event that shook a continent]
[continental level: 500/10000 [Complete at least one major event that shook a continent]
[continental level: 1750/10000 [Complete at least one major event that shook a continent]
[continental level: 4900/10000 [Complete at least one major event that shook a continent]
It was skyrocketing so fast, David could barely keep up with it.
He was so distracted with the points going up, that he forgot to accept the percentage increase he had received for completing the national event.
A few minutes passed and the explosions finally stopped.
The world watched in silence as the smoke began to clear.
The only thing people could see was huge dust clouds and large waves in the ocean below.
It was a silent few seconds.
Everyone was sitting there with anticipation.
Will this being called Superman just introduced to them survive?
Or will he fall? Was the question going through most of there minds.
But one person, no a group of people a few ten thousand meters in the sky were sitting at the edge of there seats.
Brock Rumlow was standing, his heart racing, sweat accumulating on his forehead, his back cold.
If Superman survived this, He was as good as dead.
He would be the shame of Hydra.
He would be the sole person responsible for anything Superman did to Hydra.
Brock however quickly shook his head snapping himself out of the jumbled mess of thoughts he had been in.
It is a very low chance Superman survives and even if he does he would be injured, unable to perform at his full abilities.
He might just be killable if he somehow found the Helicarrier.
That is if he found it.
From there original position they had already moved a few hundred km away from the action.
Will Superman even know that it was a Helicarrier that did this, Brock thought to himself as he regained some confidence.
Pressing on the intercom button his voice spread through the entire ship.
"Arm yourself, if the injured Superman were to come here we will get rid off him" Brock announced.
