Marvel: The Tokyo Avengers

Chapter 42: EPISODE 42: “Threadhunters”

🔺 "Every thread has a past. Even if you have to bleed to unravel it."

❗ Previously:

The team discovered the truth: the Original Needle anchoring Blood Seraphim's ritual was created using a human soul — and now powers the binding spell suffocating Tokyo.

Destroying it would kill everyone connected to it.

Their new plan: overwrite the soul using threads gathered from cursed spirits — Blood Seraphim's own fallen creations.

The Avengers split up to hunt these ghosts… and find more than just monsters.

[ACT I – 15 Hours Left: Operation Threadhunt Begins]

The sky's glyph ticks.

Spike #9 fades.

Only 15 remain.

The Avengers, now scattered across Tokyo, begin their hunt for rogue Scarlet Warden spirits — cursed echoes left behind by the ritual.

Each is hidden inside places thick with regret: forgotten corners of Tokyo, warped by trauma.

🐾 [Scene – NEKOBURST: The Abandoned Arcade]

Nekoburst finds her target inside a crumbling game center, overrun by digital illusions and claw machines frozen mid-grab.

The Warden here is a glitched arcade mascot — warped with extra arms, screen eyes, and laser claws. It speaks in static:

WARDEN: "WIN. WIN. WIN. FAIL? DIE."

She dodges its wild flailing and uses her short-burst teleportation to dance around the machines.

NEKOBURST (smirking):

"You fight like a broken game. Let me unplug you."

She tears into it mid-air, and as it collapses, a glowing red thread core floats from its chest — flickering like a memory.

She stares at it.

It whispers something.

WARDEN SOUL:

"I just wanted someone to stay…"

Nekoburst's ears lower.

She pockets it silently.

🎤 [Scene – STARWAVE: The Ruined Concert Hall]

Starwave's target resides in the remains of an old arena — the place of her first concert before she became a hero.

Everything here is cracked. The crowd seats are shattered.

She sees herself onstage… a memory projection of her before powers. Before fame.

Then it becomes corrupted.

The Scarlet Warden takes the form of a twisted idol version of herself — made of microphone cables, broken heels, and glowing red speakers.

WARDEN IDOL (mocking):

"You left me behind. The lonely version. The useless girl."

STARWAVE (quietly):

"You're not me. But I remember being you."

The battle becomes a rhythm duel.

Soundwaves clash. The fake idol screams lyrics of doubt.

But Starwave pierces the room with her true voice — and kicks through the Warden's chest with a Tempo Shatter Kick.

She stands over the remains.

The thread core glows like a broken record.

STARWAVE (soft):

"I'm not scared of silence anymore."

🔮 [Scene – ONMYO FLARE: The Warped Cemetery]

Renji arrives at an old graveyard split by a fault line.

Crows made of red thread watch from the trees.

His Warden is a former monk, possessed by his own regrets — wielding a jagged prayer staff and burning talismans.

WARDEN MONK:

"I sealed demons. Then sealed myself."

ONMYO FLARE (drawing both blades):

"Let me unseal your pain."

The duel is vicious — spell vs. spell, seal vs. curse.

Renji uses a Fire + Wind Seal Crossburst, igniting the entire hilltop and consuming the Warden in purifying flames.

He collects the thread core… but it lingers.

WARDEN SOUL:

"I wanted to believe in people again…"

Renji clenches his fist.

🐺 [Scene – KURO ŌKAMI: The Mirror District]

Kuro finds his target inside a hall of mirrors near Harajuku — warped and cracked by Seraphim's curse.

Each mirror shows a different version of him:

Kuro as a normal boy.

Kuro laughing.

Kuro… smiling.

Then the Warden emerges — a mirror-wolf clone made of cracked glass, silver mist, and rage.

WARDEN KURO:

"You don't deserve to exist. You only survived. You never lived."

KURO ŌKAMI:

"You're right."

They fight savagely — claw on claw, fangs flashing.

KURO (low growl):

"But I'm still standing."

He rips through the clone with Howl Fang Spiral and watches it shatter like broken hopes.

The thread core hovers, silent.

🪡 [Scene – SCARLET ONNA: Alone at the Needle]

While the others hunt, Scarlet Onna remains underground — monitoring the Original Needle, preparing the ritual.

She looks at the collected cores.

SCARLET ONNA:

"All fragments of forgotten pain.

Maybe… we've all been anchors."

The glyph blinks above.

She senses something.

A faint presence.

Watching her.

From beneath the shrine.

SCARLET ONNA (whispering):

"Blood Seraphim… you're listening."

A voice answers.

BLOOD SERAPHIM (calmly):

"No, Sayo. I'm waiting."

She turns.

Black threads slither from the shadows.

A new Warden rises — one never seen before. One shaped like someone she once loved.

Her eyes widen.

SCARLET ONNA (breathless):

"No. Not you…"

[Final Montage – The Team Regroups]

Each Avenger walks alone, holding a red soul-thread in their hand.

The city's glyph ticks again.

14 spikes remain.

The needle glows.

And deep below, a forbidden truth begins to awaken — one that may unravel more than just Tokyo.

🎴 [END CARD – TOKYO AVENGERS]
