Chapter 19: Chapter 18: Next Level Luo Feng
Time had passed, and Tony was finally six years old. After a grueling year of Shaolin training, he was more than ready for a break. "Finally! I get a breather. The next world can't possibly be worse than Shifu Luo Feng's brutal regimen."
Before he could depart on his next adventure, Howard called him to his lab. "Son, because of the NZT-48, I have invented a couple of gifts for you to prepare you for the next world you travel to."
Howard smirked. "Are you surprised?"
Tony replied and said "Dad, I don't need anything. Everything has been safe up until now."
Howard crossed his arms. "Well, you don't know if that's always going to be the case."
Tony shrugged. "Dad, what could possibly go wrong?"
Howard reached behind the table and pulled out a sleek, beautifully crafted sword. "This is a Shaolin Dharma sword made of vibranium with a monomolecular edge."
Tony's eyes widened. "Dad, I thought all the vibranium was used up creating an impenetrable alloy when you and Dr. Myron MacLain made Cap's shield?!"
Howard smirked. "That's what I wanted everyone to believe so the government wouldn't take the rest away. There's no way I'd use the entirety of the world's most powerful metal to make just a glorified shield. The truth is, I had a small stash… but now I'm running low."
Tony smirked. "Well, Dad, the truth is, there's actually a lot more vibranium."
Howard raised an eyebrow. "Let me guess… future knowledge?"
"Yep!" Tony said while dramatically popping the 'p.' "There's a hidden super-technology country posing as a destitute nation called Wakanda."
Howard sighed. "Of course, there is."
Tony admired the sword, swinging it experimentally. "The Shaolin Dharma sword was said to have been passed down by the Bodhidharma himself. I learned all 41 moves included in the skillset from Luo Feng."
Howard handed him a backpack. "Your meditation training and natural growth have also improved your powers so you should be able to teleport more items than last time. I prepared this for you." Howard hands him a tactical backpack filled with stuff "MREs, a gun—just in case—some C4 for emergencies, and a full-body tactical suit to prevent scratches, cuts, and low-caliber rounds."
Tony's eyes gleamed. "You made this, Dad?"
Howard smirked. "Like I said, now that I have NZT-48, I'm coming up with all sorts of good ideas. This is just the tip of the iceberg. But more importantly, I finally completed IT."
Tony's jaw dropped. "Whoa, Dad, you completed IT?!"
"Yes. IT."
At that moment, Luo Feng entered the lab, his steps making no sound. "What is this 'IT' you speak of?"
Howard turned to him. "The Super Soldier Serum. I have two doses prepared so far, and the old Vita-Ray Chamber from Abraham Erskine has been moved here. Of course, I modernized it. If I'm right, not only will it enhance physical abilities, but it should also amplify Tony's psychic and teleportation powers."
Tony nodded. "Yeah, Dad, that sounds about right."
Howard then said "I haven't done human testing, but I'm 100% sure it works."
Luo Feng stepped forward. "Use it on me first."
Howard raised an eyebrow. "You sure?"
Luo Feng nodded. "My martial skills, while continuously refined, will in the future not advance in large strides. Since taking NZT-48, I can calculate my skill progression, and I know I will plateau again. This is a good way to keep growing."
Howard rubbed his chin. "You're certain about this?"
"Yes," Luo Feng said fervently. "I want to be the next pioneer in the martial arts world. To go where no warrior has gone before."
Howard sighed. "Alright. Let's head to the base under the estate—where all the good science happens."
They moved to the underground lab, where the modified Vita-Ray Chamber stood ready. As Luo Feng stepped in, Howard strapped him in. "Oh, by the way, this will hurt."
Luo Feng closed his eyes. "Pain is but an illusion of the mind."
Howard muttered, "Yeah, yeah, you and your mystical mumbo jumbo. Let's start. Injecting the serum. Load and activate the Vita-Rays to 10 percent."
Howard frowned. "I wonder if this is working right. Steve Rogers was screaming when this happened."
Luo Feng's eyes snapped open. "Crank it up to 100%, Howard."
Howard hesitated, then shrugged. "Alright, your funeral."
The chamber lit up as the energy surged through Luo Feng's body. The transformation was instant. The chamber opened, and Luo Feng, who had stood at a lean 5'8", was now an imposing 6'4". His body wasn't that of a bulky bodybuilder, but his muscles were defined, his form resembling a living weapon.
Luo Feng rolled his shoulders. "I feel… stronger. Smarter. More powerful."
Tony tilted his head. "Any unintended side effects?"
Luo Feng nodded. "Yes. I can actualize my chi now."
Howard blinked. "Explain."
"Before, I could only use it for internal arts like Qigong or reinforcing punches and kicks. But now, my chi has magnified at least tenfold with powers similar to a practitioner I saw before. I met an old woman named Madame Gao who could emit full-scale Ki blasts and punch cars away, even though she looked 80 years old. It was unnatural—almost as if she had centuries of experience and growth."
Tony leaned forward. "And now you can do what she did?"
Luo Feng raised his hand, and to everyone's amazement, it started to glow. "This serum of yours will drive the martial artists of Kun-Lun crazy. We should be able to trade it for the Book of the Iron Fist—their collective knowledge of chi techniques and Kun-Lun Quan, the best martial art for chi cultivation."
Tony smirked. "I'm all excited now. Master, will you teach me how to use chi?"
Luo Feng nodded. "First, you must master the Shaolin arts as your foundational techniques. You are close to completing that step. Once you understand the martial arts aspects, we will move on to chi manipulation."
Howard clapped his hands together. "Well then, next up is you, Tony. Let's see what the Super Soldier Serum does to a psychic teleporter."
