Chapter 107: 103. Hunter Armor: Explosive Bomb Warrior Aurus Set!

Just a day later, the second Round Table Barbecue Conference was held successfully again.

At the welcome banquet.

Zaire introduced Jessica, the only trainee, to Connors.

Connors felt a hint of concern about having two familiar students on the team.

However, his worries were soon dispelled after Jessica, gradually intoxicated, inadvertently demonstrated her terrifying strength.

Taking advantage of the moment, Zaire revealed to Connors the dark secrets of Roxxon Industries: their heinous experiments on children and adults, aiming to research superpower-inducing compounds.

Connors was angrier than Zaire had expected.

He drank heavily, furiously denouncing the organization's inhumane, unethical, and heartless behavior.

After several rounds of drinks, Connors, feeling a release from his pent-up frustration, seemed ready to brew a serum and transform into the Lizard once more—had Zaire not stopped him.

The next morning.

Connors, now revitalized and brimming with energy, broke free from his usual lethargy.

With a renewed spirit, he began discussing how to build a proper laboratory with David the Ironman.

Curious, Zaire and Jessica listened in for a while but concluded that combat training was more suitable for them.

After completing their daily basic training, Zaire, upon reflection, decided to send Jessica a large batch of case files from Midtown High.

These files, detailing cases of missing girls, could provide Jessica with valuable experience and tests.

Jessica, excited by the prospect, began reaching out to her former classmates, carefully gathering rumors and whispers circulating among the students.

In the lounge.

Sitting cross-legged, Zaire opened the simulator's page and watched as the countdown for a specific retrieval neared its end.

[Designated Retrieval: Power Armor]

Annotation:

The "Hunter's Game" is a notorious tradition in Necromunda hive cities and other well-known hives.

A coming-of-age rite for unseasoned upper-hive youths, it requires them to venture into the underhive, completing kill quotas or simply surviving.

Those who succeed often emerge as capable leaders within the hive.

Of course, most are killed—or eaten—by mutants, scavengers, or terrifying underhive monstrosities.

Additional Note:

This suit originates from the Goliath Clan, one of the six great clans of Necromunda.

Equipped with deadly gauntlets capable of firing explosive rounds, it excels in both ranged firepower and brutal melee combat.

Its protective force field can withstand most ranged threats.

Due to its integration of lost, unknown technologies, the suit possesses unique adaptability, gradually adjusting to the user's combat style and repairing itself when damaged.

Returning this heirloom of a Goliath Clan leader might earn their friendship—or provoke relentless pursuit.

"Phew..."

Zaire, squinting his wolfish green eyes, carefully read through the annotations on the Hunter's Armor.

He let out a long breath.

Although it wasn't the ideal feedback-enhanced power armor that ordinary humans could use, it significantly enhanced his combat capabilities.

Without hesitation, Zaire retrieved the item.

In an instant, a towering, 2-meter-tall black-and-red Hunter's Armor materialized before him.

Thud—

The heavy armor hit the metal floor with a resounding clang.

Zaire's eyes immediately fell on the massive red gauntlets hanging prominently from the armor's sides.

Leaping from his bed, he approached the Hunter's Armor.

"Hm…"

Frowning slightly, Zaire scrutinized the peculiar suit, with its metallic shell only covering the leg guards, shoulder plates, and gauntlets, while the rest was connected by bundles of electronic muscle fibers.

Instinctively, he reached out and touched the spherical force-field generator on the chest plate.

Hiss—

With a soft sound, the grotesque armor underwent a seamless transformation.

The electronic muscle fibers pulsed and contracted, as if alive, and the armor split open from the chest, revealing its intricate inner workings.

"Truly a noble's hunting toy... Even its donning mechanism is so considerate."

Muttering to himself, Zaire bared his teeth in a grin.

Unlike the versatile, disposable power armors, the Hunter's Armor far surpassed ordinary models in manufacturing complexity and technology.

However, its combat adaptability was much narrower, suitable only for facing minor threats like scavengers or mutated creatures.

Taking a deep breath, Zaire turned and carefully stepped into the opened armor.

Click-clack—

With a low mechanical hum, the armor began to assemble itself around him.

The electronic muscle fibers adjusted the suit's shape and height, adapting to Zaire's tall frame.

Seconds later, fully encased, Zaire raised one of the massive red gauntlets.

The bulky metallic wrist rotated, and the gauntlet's outer casing split apart, revealing a hidden explosive launcher.

"Heh..."

Gazing at the dark gun barrel, Zaire grinned, exposing his sharp fangs.

With a slight twist of his neck, he moved toward the training area, encased in the Hunter's Armor.

Thud, thud, thud—

The heavy footsteps of the armor echoed through the base.

Reaching the training ground, Zaire raised one of the massive red gauntlets.

Clank—

With the metallic wrist twisting, the sound of explosives loading filled the air.

Boom, boom, boom—

Deafening explosions erupted across the training field as Zaire charged forward.

Powered by the armor's strong electronic muscle fibers, he became a streaking blur.

Crash!

With a single punch, he shattered a metal dummy.

Meanwhile, the explosive weapon in his other gauntlet kept firing relentlessly.

After ten consecutive blasts, the gauntlet's ammunition was finally depleted.

At that moment, Zaire stopped in his tracks, a brilliant smile spreading across his face.

"Ugly as it is… the power of these explosives is enough to make me like this suit."
