"It seems that we are here too early."

Sitting under a tree on the playground of the mutant school, Noah stretched, bored.

Evan and the others watched the children playing basketball, using their various special abilities, but quickly lost interest. Only Fury seemed entertained, but no one could tell what was going on in his mind.

Noah and the others had indeed arrived early. When they entered Professor Charles' office, they were greeted not by the bald man in the wheelchair, but by a woman with silver hair and dark skin. This immediately confused them.

"Professor Charles went to Washington and will likely be back tonight. If you don't mind, you can stay overnight and meet him tomorrow," the woman explained.

Now it all made sense.

Sometimes, traveling directly using magic isn't the best option. They had probably arrived at their destination before the others had even left.

After a brief discussion, Noah and the others decided to stay the night. With Fury around, his SHIELD ID served as the perfect cover. Storm, who was already aware of SHIELD's existence—since they had made contact before—was cautious but didn't make things difficult for them.

After assigning rooms for the five of them, Storm took the SHIELD agents on a tour of the school, finally leaving once all the students had finished their classes.

It was uncertain whether they had truly left, as mutants are incredibly sensitive and constantly on alert. To help them stay hidden, Noah set up some magic so they could be seen but not heard.

"I have to admit, the abilities of these kids are really interesting," Noah said after watching Fury, who seemed intrigued by a child using space manipulation to play basketball.

"It's fascinating. Their training methods aren't bad. Simply put, they allow these kids to learn and enjoy the same things as outsiders, but they don't emphasize their differences," Fury observed.

Noah nodded, agreeing. He couldn't deny that the mutants were impressive. However, he knew that the current X-Men lacked experience in fully developing their abilities. To him, they were just unpolished tools, but in a few years, they'd be forces to reckon with. Their current educational system, however, was far from ideal for survival.

"Do you think this is the direction human evolution will take?" Fury asked thoughtfully, rubbing his chin.

"How should I know? I'm a magician, not a mutant," Noah rolled his eyes. "Even if it goes in this direction, there will always be people trying to stop it. A magician understands that. Don't tell me, an agent, doesn't know this?"

Fury grunted, somewhat amused by Noah's sarcasm. "To be honest, I'm curious to see if you can convince them."

"Why?"

"So I can borrow some of them."

"Are you serious? You know I'll lend you people, right?" Noah couldn't help but chuckle. Fury wanted to borrow mutants? The idea amused Noah. He could tell that Fury knew he wouldn't be able to recruit magicians from the "eighth floor" (the higher-ups in the magical world), so he turned his attention to these mutants.

Although Fury didn't expect to learn about magic from them, he was still intrigued by their powers. If these mutants joined the magical world, would they even be able to sustain themselves?

Fury was thinking pragmatically. If he could get them jobs in SHIELD, it would reduce the burden on the magical community. Although the work would be dangerous, the pay would be high. He didn't think the magic world would support them for free.

"We'll talk about it later, after they agree and the Ministry of Magic finishes wrangling," Noah shrugged indifferently.

"But you said if they agree, you'd help them adapt to the British magic world," Fury pressed.

"I do have that plan, but it all depends on their decision. And, Fury, I don't care whether they agree or not. I'm not their babysitter, and their life or death isn't my problem."

"Got it."

As Noah and Fury chatted on the playground, inside the main building of the mutant school, Cyclops and Storm were watching them on a large display screen.

Just as Noah suspected, they didn't trust these SHIELD visitors, even though the five of them had claimed to be looking for Professor Charles. However, after observing them for a while, Cyclops and Storm relaxed a bit. The group seemed genuinely interested in meeting Charles and hadn't acted suspiciously so far.

Despite being on the playground, they were just watching the mutant kids, not making any radical moves.

"What should we do?" Cyclops asked, looking at the five on the screen, looking a bit defeated.

Before leaving, Professor Charles had tasked them with a mission. Now that he was in Washington, these SHIELD agents' arrival made things awkward.

"Of course we should go," Storm replied calmly. "The professor will be back tonight, and we just need to wait for him to return before leaving."

Cyclops sighed. "The professor's back? Who knows where they've gone?"

"It's better than letting a bunch of worried people stay here unprotected. I'll take responsibility for this."

"Alright, alright. You take responsibility. Damn, these guys came at the perfect time!" Cyclops grumbled.

The Next Morning

Fury woke up early and proceeded to wake up Noah and the others, each one still in deep sleep.

Naturally, his actions angered the lazy magicians, and as a result, Fury was turned into a sheep and left standing outside the door, bleating.

Even Gugu, the little one, jumped on his head and started rubbing it with his cat claws.

To be honest, Fury wasn't angry at first. When he turned into a sheep, he'd had enough. He was just glad it was inside a room and not on the playground—there was grass out there.

"Of course we noticed. How could we not hear something so noisy? But that's no reason for you to disturb us so early in the morning. Do you know how long we've really slept?" Lance groaned, yawning.

Strictly speaking, they hadn't slept properly for a long time. Since learning meditation in Kamar-Taj, they didn't sleep like normal people, unless on vacation. They preferred to meditate instead, which wasn't quite the same as real sleep.

No matter how much they meditated, they were still tired, especially now that they finally wanted to rest, only to be disturbed by Fury.

"Damn it! Is this really the reason you turned me into a sheep and made me stand out here for three hours?" Fury grumbled.

"Wouldn't it be nice to experience Animagus? I don't know how many people can't learn it," Evan smiled, though it wasn't friendly.

"As far as I know, Noah doesn't know Animagus either. Though it seems he doesn't plan to learn it. But congratulations, Mr. Fury, you've got a step ahead of him," Kate said coldly, not amused.

Noah simply shrugged. He really didn't know Animagus magic, nor had he ever considered learning it. The idea of turning into an animal didn't excite him. He had once wondered if he could turn into a dragon—imagine flying with wings or breathing fire—but that was just a passing thought.

"Wait, what if it didn't work before? Could it work now?"

Noah suddenly realized he wasn't the same Ravenclaw he once was. He had spent ten years studying real-world magic and countless hours training in his system space.

"I'm only one step away from joining the ranks of advanced magicians. My knowledge base is deep enough to master more powerful abilities. Maybe I should give it a try?"

Noah's thoughts were interrupted by the ongoing bickering between Fury, Evan, and the others.

Sighing helplessly, Noah called out, "Should we meet Professor Charles?"

"No problem, Noah, but before that, I want to turn this guy into a sheep and make him eat some grass!" Evan quipped.

"But who will pay for the damage to the turf?"

"Of course he'll pay! Or, if we charge in gold galleons, we can pay it ourselves!" Lance replied with a grin.
