Chapter 11: Edward Buckman
"You guys should come in, I'll give you all a tour of the place" Edward said with a smile as he showed them to the door
Winston and the man began joking around completely forgetting that they had come with two teenagers that were following behind
Leon carrying his tools simply lead Grace around as they took their time admiring each artwork they past.
It was true, as an artist, just looking at another's work was enough fill you with inspiration and might even change your art style.
Well in Leon's case, it just meant that he picked up a new art style. Each time he saw a painting, it was as though he was taken back in time to when the original artist was working on it.
He saw every stroke of the brush, pen or pencil in order, it didn't matter how the painting was, he just knew.
'As this point, it really must be a superpower' Leon thought to himself as he stared at some abstract painting
The only style of painting that he truthfully didn't understand, it was just a weird mix of colors and then the painter says that it represents so and so and people would take them for their words.
In his opinion, such paintings were a matter of personal interpretation.
"I think that's the general idea… you saw it and thought it was a waste of paint and canvas, he saw it and thought it was a reflect of his current state of emotions" Grace suddenly said as she gestured to a wealthy looking man who was standing a small distance away from them
"Telepathy must really come in handy at times like this, huh?" Leon replied.
"No, you're the person that's weird, how can out of every ability you could get, you got the ability to draw… that's all" Grace said
"Really well, I can draw incredibly well" Leon reminded her
It may be a stupid ability but he had come to learn so far that there was a not-so secret class of humans in this world who were unimaginative called Mutants with supernatural abilities.
He assumed that Grace was one such person due to her Telepathy and that he was one too even if he would probably be on the lower end of the scale.
There were many like him who gained abilities that were equally weak but thankfully unlike many, he had an ability that could make him money.
"Its just cheating"
"Says the Telepath" Leon replied in his mind knowing that Grace would hear it.
Before he knew it, he felt a light punch on his shoulder as he began laughing. Leon went around to view the many painting and other artworks in the gallery.
Though he was pretty sure that he could do better than these people, he still focused to refine his art style after all one could never stop learning.
Almost an hour after they arrived, Edward finally took them to his office where Leon immediately spotted a large Canvas and some painting equipment ready for him to use.
"I'm guessing I will be painting you now, right?" Leon asked
"Naturally and unlike my cheapskate of a friend here, I am willing to pay $1000 for you to do your best" Edward said with a smile as he handled over a couple of bills over to him.
Leon quickly counted the money and just as he said, it matched so almost as though he was from a cartoon, all they saw was an afterimage and looking for the original… they found Leon standing just behind the Canvas with a paintbrush in hand.
"Money grubber" Grace said under her breath before she sat down on a provided seat for her and her father
The two awkwardly sat down as they watched as Edward came to pose for his painting. Edward was a cliché human being, that much could be seen from the pose he chose.
The man had changed and was wearing a weird military uniform he didn't know where it came from and was sitting on a fake horse that Leon assumed, he wanted him to incorporate well.
"Okay, are you sure you are comfortable… it may not take long but it's still long enough for you to feel uncomfortable in such a position" Leon asked, slightly worried about the man
"Don't worry, my dear boy, just go ahead" Edward replied as Leon shrugged and began painting the man
Roughly thirty minutes or maybe less, Leon didn't exactly keep track of the time this time… he was staring at a realistic image of Edward riding a horse, the background depicted an open field with the sun behind him
Looking at it, Leon felt as though he was staring at a warfront wuth the cliché man before him leading the charge
"Really, let me see" Edward asked as he excitedly jumped down from the fake horse
