"This is impossible! The entire army has been wiped out, not even the Winter Soldiers escaped!"
At the Three-Arc Wing Building, Pierce stared at the screen, now covered in snowflakes, his face twisted with anger and disbelief.
He hadn't expected a mere mutant school to possess such terrifying power.
His own elite forces, capable of defeating S.H.I.E.L.D.'s finest units, armed with numerous energy weapons and over thirty Winter Soldiers on par with Captain America, had vanished without a trace in such a short time—almost as if they had evaporated from the earth.
"Could it really be that George?"
At that moment, Pierce suddenly recalled the George he had previously overlooked.
Initially, he had assumed George was just a puppet pushed forward by Professor X, with the true leader of the school—formerly the Mutant Academy—being Professor X.
The most powerful mutant in the school was also Professor X.
However, even though they had used a device to block Professor X's telepathic abilities, they were still struck by a terrifying, large-scale lightning attack.
This suggested that there was another mutant in the school, one whose powers were on par with or even greater than Professor X's.
They had information on Wolverine Logan, but the rest were just kids. The only possible candidate for this mysterious power was George, the school's public face as headmaster.
He realized now that he might have been mistaken—George was likely the true leader of the school and the most powerful mutant there.
"Go, tell Dr. Zola to send all the newly developed robotic soldiers here for defense!"
After the Queen's District robot soldier incident, S.H.I.E.L.D. had acquired some information about the robot soldiers created by Anton Vanko. Naturally, this information had also made its way into Hydra's database.
With Hydra's technological superiority over S.H.I.E.L.D., they quickly replicated a batch of similar Hydra robots.
However, things had been going smoothly up until now—Nick Fury had even been eliminated—so they had not yet deployed this trump card.
The completed Hydra robots were stored at the base guarding the Tesseract, under Dr. Zola's unified command.
Now, with the airborne aircraft carrier about to launch, and to prevent any remaining agents like Coulson and the mutants from the Superpower Academy from staging a counterattack on the Three-Arc Wing, all the robots needed to be redirected here for defense.
"I should have dealt with those mutants earlier."
After giving the orders, Pierce couldn't help but feel a twinge of regret.
If he had known things would turn out like this, he should have made it a priority to capture Coulson and the other agents alive. Then, once the aircraft carrier was in the air, he could have controlled the entire world, brainwashed them, and forced them to reveal the location of the Superpower Academy.
That would have been the safest course of action.
In truth, his mistake had been underestimating them. After seizing the Three-Arc Wing Building and eliminating Nick Fury, he had grown overconfident, thinking that the Superpower Academy, with only a few adult mutants, posed no real threat.
He had assumed they could deal with it easily and even prevent any potential interference later.
"This isn't enough. I need to borrow some people from Strucker."
After pacing in his office, Pierce still felt uneasy. He reached for the communicator and contacted Baron Strucker, another major Hydra leader.
Hydra, as an organization, spanned the globe, but it wasn't completely unified. Many smaller factions existed within it.
Pierce's faction, rooted in S.H.I.E.L.D., was made up of the Red Skull's remnants and had always tried to use Zola's algorithm to bring Hydra to world domination through the Insight Program.
Baron Strucker, on the other hand, led a different faction, headquartered in Sokovia. His group focused on studying and experimenting with superpowered individuals, hoping to use their abilities to bring Hydra to global rule.
Everyone's goal was the same, but their methods varied.
They would certainly help each other when needed, but they would not become subservient to one another.
Thus, when he launched the Insight Program, the leaders of other Hydra factions provided assistance in various ways, but they did not personally bring their forces to help.
His relationship with Baron Strucker was relatively good. It was he who had helped Strucker secure the Sokovia research base under the guise of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Therefore, asking Strucker to lend a few superpowered individuals for assistance should not be an issue.
Superpowered individuals battling mutants would make him feel much more at ease.
"Alright, no problem. I'll send a few of our strongest superpowered individuals to help you," Baron Strucker said.
In Hydra's Sokovia base, Strucker waved his recently upgraded mechanical right hand—known as the Claw of Satan—before ending the call. He then turned to his subordinate and ordered:
"Send Jia Ying over here!"
A moment later, a young woman with Asian features walked into Strucker's presence.
"Baron, what can I do for you?"
Strucker waved his hand dismissively, "Have Gordon take the strongest warriors from your tribe to Pierce. Also, send your daughter Daisy along. I've heard her abilities are formidable since they've been fully developed."
Strucker looked at the woman below him, narrowing his eyes.
"Jia Ying, you should remember that if it weren't for me, you would have been disassembled by Dr. Reinhardt a long time ago."
He paused, eyeing her with intensity. "So, I expect you to have no ulterior motives and remain loyal to me. Once Hydra controls the world, I'll grant your people a piece of land to live on. You can slowly search for the rest of your tribe without fear of being rejected by the world."
"Long live Hydra. We will serve you faithfully, Baron," Jia Ying responded firmly, chanting Hydra's motto.
Strucker nodded in satisfaction and waved for her to leave.
After Jia Ying returned to her room, she finally let out a cautious sigh of relief.
She was an Inhuman, possessing immortality, and had long been leading the last remnants of her people on Earth. She had spent years searching for other Inhumans with similar genes.
During World War II, she had been captured by Hydra's Werner Reinhardt while searching for Inhumans and was experimented on, even losing the Obelisk.
The Obelisk contained the Terrigen Crystals, which could unlock superhuman abilities in those with Inhuman genes, but ordinary humans would be petrified to death upon contact.
Fortunately, Reinhardt was soon defeated by Peggy Carter's Howling Commandos, and she regained her freedom.
In 1989, while again searching for Inhumans, she unexpectedly fell in love with a human doctor and had a child, hoping to live an ordinary life outside the "future."
But she was once again captured by Hydra. Hydra soon discovered that Jia Ying had not aged a day in forty-four years, realizing she was no ordinary person.
Reinhardt initially wanted to dissect her to uncover the secret of her immortality, but Strucker had intervened to stop him.
