Marvel’s Spider-Man: Across the Multiverse

Chapter 53: Chapter 52: Time!

"We all need to leave; we can't stay here," Dr. Pym said.

The second Wasp glanced at Peter, Ghost, and Bill Foster before asking, "What about them?"

Peter put on his helmet. "If I want to leave, no one can stop me."

Ghost looked at Peter, then at Bill Foster, her face filled with hesitation.

Bill Foster nodded and gave her a reassuring look.

Taking a deep breath, Ghost stepped behind Peter and asked, "Um... can I follow you?"

Peter turned around, his tone curious. "Why?"

"You can heal me," Ghost said without hesitation. After experiencing what it felt like to have a healthy body, she couldn't imagine going back to the state of torment she had endured before.

Seeing Peter remain silent, Ghost quickly added, "I've been trained as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. I excel at combat, assassination, infiltration, and advanced hacking. I can help you with many things!"

Peter looked at Ghost, visibly conflicted.

To be fair, having a follower like her wouldn't be bad.

Although her invisibility ability had disappeared after he stabilized her molecular structure, her skills were undeniably useful.

And considering that her life was now tied to his hands, loyalty wouldn't be an issue.

But her past... she was an agent trained during S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Hydra infiltration. For all he knew, she could be another Winter Soldier.

The kind that could be brainwashed with a few random codes and turn on everyone around her.

And let's face it, that was precisely the kind of thing Hydra would do.

At this moment, Bill Foster spoke up, "If you're willing to help Ava, I'll do everything I can to assist you. I'm a professor of quantum physics at UC Berkeley."

Hearing this, Peter's eyes lit up with visible excitement.

More excited than when Ghost offered to follow him!

He'd been racking his brain on how to better develop his abilities, and here was a golden opportunity.

Though he had read numerous books and scoured countless resources for his novels before crossing over, none of those amateurish materials could compare to having an actual quantum physics professor at his side.

Moreover, Peter suddenly recalled another of Bill Foster's identities.

His codename was "Goliath," which literally meant "giant."

He had once been a colleague of Hank Pym at S.H.I.E.L.D. and had worked alongside Dr. Pym and Egghead on quantum field research. Bill had even personally participated in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s "Goliath Project," using Pym Particles to enlarge himself to a height of 6.4 meters and gain approximately 10 tons of strength.

Of course, his strength was secondary; Bill Foster's greatest value to Peter was his knowledge of quantum physics!

"Alright, I'll agree to your terms," Peter decided to follow his instincts. No matter what, figuring out how to harness his abilities came first.

Hearing this, Ghost and Bill Foster both smiled.

"Alright, everyone, I think we should leave this place now," Dr. Pym interjected.

Peter turned to look and saw Dr. Pym and the others already standing by the door of the lab, waiting for them.

He suddenly remembered that this entire building, including the lab, was actually a suitcase in disguise. The Pym Particles were truly amazing, almost like the Capsule technology from Dragon Ball.

Hurriedly, Peter led Bill Foster and Ghost toward the door.

Of course, they had to take the back exit because the front was swarming with police.

However, the moment they stepped out through the back door, Peter realized he'd been far too optimistic.

The back area was also surrounded by numerous police cars. The only difference was that this side faced the ocean, making it harder for the police to block off completely.

"Hey man, what do you usually do in situations like this?" Ant-Man suddenly sidled up to Peter, asking for advice.

Peter shrugged and said, "Don't you know? Spider-Man is always the friendly neighborhood guy, so I've never encountered something like this."

Ant-Man chuckled awkwardly.

His situation was the exact opposite.

Whether before or after donning the Ant-Man suit, he felt like he was always up to something sneaky.

Even now, his ability to roam around freely was only because Hope had enlarged an ant to mimic his behavior at home to throw off the FBI.

Otherwise, the moment he left his house, it wouldn't take more than a few minutes before the FBI showed up at his door.

"Alright, I actually have a great idea," Ant-Man said, brushing off Peter's teasing without taking it to heart. In truth, he quite enjoyed his current lifestyle.

After briefly explaining his plan, Ant-Man pressed a button, shrank to the size of an ant, and flew away on the back of an actual ant.

The second Wasp quickly shrank down as well and followed him.

One had to admit, this superhero couple had incredible synergy.

Watching them leave, Peter couldn't help but wonder: Would there ever come a day when he and Gwen-Spider could have that kind of chemistry?

The thought filled Peter's mind with a warm, hopeful feeling.

Ant-Man's plan was actually quite simple: a classic diversion tactic.

He would head to a distant location, remove his suit, enlarge it, and make it appear as though he had turned into a giant to draw the FBI's attention.

At the pre-set time, the enlarged suit would automatically shrink, reducing itself all the way down to ant size.

Then, Wasp would seize the opportunity to retrieve it.

Meanwhile, Peter and the others just needed to take advantage of the distraction to shrink Pym Tower back into a suitcase and make their getaway.

The plan worked flawlessly.

Before long, Peter was in the van when the second Wasp returned, but Ant-Man was nowhere to be seen.

That was because the FBI would undoubtedly head to his house to confirm his unauthorized departure. He needed to rush back immediately and swap out the ant impersonating him.

Leaving Ant-Man aside for the moment—

Looking at Dr. Pym and the others, Peter spoke up. "Dr. Pym."

"Yes, young Eastern Spider-Man? What is it?" Dr. Pym turned around from the passenger seat.

"Just call me Peter," Peter said. "I'd like to ask you something—how long would it take you to build a new quantum tunnel?"

Dr. Pym looked puzzled. "Why do you ask?"

"I need to confirm something. Please, just tell me," Peter replied earnestly.

"Well, I still have the materials, but it would probably take about a month," Dr. Pym answered after some thought.

"A month?" Peter's first reaction was a mix of surprise and relief.

He was asking because he wanted to confirm how much time was left before the events of Avengers: Infinity War began.

In the post-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp, Dr. Pym and his team had built a miniature quantum tunnel in their van to help heal Ghost's injuries. Ant-Man had used it to enter the Quantum Realm and collect quantum energy. But just as he was about to return, Thanos snapped his fingers, and Dr. Pym, the original Wasp, and the second Wasp all disintegrated into dust!

Wait a minute—something's off here!
