Marvel’s Spider-Man: Across the Multiverse

Chapter 61: Chapter 60: Iron Man

Peter stepped into the hall and was immediately greeted by the scene unfolding before him.

A black-suited and a white-suited middle-aged man sat face to face, casually chatting.

Beside them stood a sharply dressed old man, his temper flaring as he berated the two.

From the faint shimmer of his figure, it was clear he was merely a holographic projection.

"Four of the world's most wanted fugitives were found aboard a stolen Quinjet!" the old man demanded. "And now you're telling me that you invited them here? Are you trying to stage a coup, Tony Stark?"

"Hey, Tony, Rhodey," Captain America casually raised a hand in greeting.

The conversation came to an abrupt halt.

Iron Man Tony Stark, Colonel James "Rhodey" Rhodes, and the old man turned to face them simultaneously.

Before Iron Man or Rhodey could say a word, the old man stormed up to Captain America. "You've got some nerve, showing up here like this—"

Swish!

Before he could finish, the holographic projection disappeared abruptly.

Behind him, Tony shrugged. "He sure talks a lot of nonsense. I've been waiting for a moment of peace."

Colonel Rhodes sighed in exasperation. "You could've at least thought about me! Hanging up on the Secretary of State's call? I'm bound to end up in a military tribunal for this."

Tony pointed at Captain America and his group. "Just say they threatened you. I mean, he's already the most wanted fugitive—it's not like one more charge will make a difference."

Peter watched Tony Stark in awe.

Iron Man.

Alive.

As Peter looked at him, an unforgettable image surfaced in his mind: Iron Man slipping on the Infinity Gauntlet and, at the cost of his own life, snapping his fingers.

"I am Iron Man."

Those simple yet profound words bore the weight of a superhero, a husband, and a father.

Iron Man had become a towering figure in the Avengers, a symbol of self-sacrifice and heroism.

For a moment, Peter felt as though he were standing in the presence of a legend, almost like a pilgrim at a sacred site.

But he quickly shook off the feeling. After all, he was here now, doing something similar to what Iron Man had done.

He might not possess Iron Man's unparalleled selflessness, but he could still strive to do his best.

"So, you're the Spider-Man from a parallel universe?" Iron Man asked, suddenly standing in front of Peter, scrutinizing him closely.

Peter nodded. He wasn't wearing his mask, so there was no way Tony could mistake him for Holland's Spider-Man or any other parallel counterpart.

"Hello, Mr. Stark, it's a pleasure to meet you."

"To be honest, meeting you isn't exactly making my day. The news you brought made me cancel a date with Pepper. Just kidding—but seriously, thanks for the heads-up. If not for you, we'd probably be walking into an unprepared intergalactic war."

The two shook hands.

From Stark's words, Peter could tell that he already believed most of what had been said about Thanos and the Infinity War.

Steve Rogers must have found a way to convince him.

That saved Peter a lot of explaining.

"Let me get straight to the point," Peter said.

Everyone turned to him.

"Mr. Stark, do you know the address of the Sanctum Sanctorum? Or perhaps, can you contact Doctor Strange?"

"Doctor Strange?" Stark looked puzzled and shook his head. "Never heard of him."

"Uh..." Peter frowned slightly, then slapped his forehead.

Damn!

What a mix-up!

He'd been so focused on the events of Avengers: Infinity War that he'd instinctively assumed Stark and Doctor Strange already knew each other.

But on second thought, the only reason Doctor Strange sought out Stark in the first place was because Banner had been teleported back to Earth and crashed into the Sanctum in New York.

In other words, they didn't know each other before that!

Quickly turning to Vision, Peter said, "Mr. Vision, could you look up 117A Bleecker Street for me?"

Vision nodded, his eyes glowing as he projected a holographic image in front of everyone.

However, the image only showed an ordinary street—bustling with people but nothing out of the ordinary.

"This is supposed to be where your Doctor Strange lives?" Stark asked.

Peter nodded, feeling a headache coming on.

He remembered that the Sanctum Sanctorum had a magical barrier that made it invisible unless the sorcerers permitted otherwise. Even though he knew the address, he hadn't expected to find it so easily.

But now, with Stark not knowing Doctor Strange, his options were limited. It was a long shot, but he had no other choice.

Unfortunately, it turned out to be a dead end.

So, who in this timeline might be able to locate Doctor Strange directly?

Wait—Thor!

Peter suddenly remembered the post-credits scene from Doctor Strange, where Strange had a conversation with Thor. In that scene, Thor had even been given a magically refilling beer—a moment that endeared him to countless beer enthusiasts.

"Well, do you have a way to contact Thor?" Peter's gaze swept across everyone.

Captain America shook his head. "Actually, I lost contact with him years ago."

"It's always been him reaching out to us one-sidedly," Iron Man nodded in agreement. "Does Thor know this Doctor Strange? If you don't mind me asking, what exactly does this doctor do?"

Peter explained, "On Earth, there's a very special group of beings called 'sorcerers.' They use dimensional magic to achieve many extraordinary things. Doctor Strange was chosen by the previous Sorcerer Supreme as the most powerful sorcerer and is now the current Sorcerer Supreme!"

"Sorcerers?" Everyone's eyes instinctively shifted toward Wanda.

Wanda's chaos magic was equally extraordinary and immensely powerful.

After hearing Peter's description, they couldn't help but imagine Doctor Strange as a sorcerer akin to Wanda.

Iron Man, deep in thought, remarked, "If that's the case, he could indeed be a valuable ally."

Peter added, "The most crucial part is that Doctor Strange possesses an artifact called the Eye of Agamotto. At its core lies the Time Stone!"

Captain America frowned. "In that case, we must find him."

Peter nodded. "If Doctor Strange fights alone, the Time Stone is at great risk. Moreover, he resides in the Sanctum Sanctorum in New York City. If the enemy launches a surprise attack, it could cause massive destruction to the city!"

The gravity of the situation dawned on everyone.

At that moment, Wanda spoke up, "Perhaps I can try. Since you said the Sanctum Sanctorum is magically concealed, making it inaccessible to ordinary people, maybe I can use my magic to break through its enchantments!"

Peter's eyes lit up.

Of course!

Although Wanda wasn't officially the Scarlet Witch yet, her mastery of magic was in no way inferior to Doctor Strange's.

In fact, based on her feats—destroying the Mind Stone with one hand while holding off Thanos with the other—she was far stronger than Doctor Strange!

Buzz!

Just then, Peter's Spider-Sense suddenly went off.

He shot to his feet. "Enemies approaching!"
