Chapter 45: The Drama Queen's Self-Cultivation! The Lizard Man Died with His Eyes Open!

Gwen immediately changed her stance, retracting the kick she had been about to deliver. She wasn't confident in taking on two opponents at once.

But just when Gwen thought Connor would join forces with the Green Goblin to fight her, he suddenly rushed toward Harry's knees.

"Osborn, you treacherous bastard!"

"You…!" Harry was so furious he almost coughed up blood.

Shouldn't you be fighting Spider-Man?

She and that so-called 'knight' destroyed your device!

Gwen was just as stunned. Do these criminals just love fighting each other?

Now the question was—who should she deal with first?

"Forget it. I'll go help Jessica first."

She turned her gaze toward Jessica and Peter, who were still struggling against Venom.

With a flick of her wrist, spider silk shot out—Venom's feet were stuck!

But the symbiote quickly separated from him, nullifying the attack.

"This monster is really hard to deal with…"

Seeing that her webbing had little effect, Gwen held back from making another move and instead focused on finding a better strategy.

Meanwhile, Harry, who had also injected himself with the Green Goblin serum, pushed Connor away with brute strength and spoke in an attempt to reason with him.

"Connors! I know it's you!"

Connors didn't attack again but instead asked, "That's Norman Osborn's Green Goblin equipment. Who are you?"

"I… I am…" Harry hesitated.

He still remembered how much his father was hated once his identity was exposed. He wasn't ready to reveal himself so casually.

So, he lied.

"Connors, I'm not from Osborn Industries… You don't have to be so defensive. We can join forces—I can help you."

He quickly added, "Of course, in exchange, you'll have to help me."

Connors turned his head, looking at his destroyed launch device.

Harry seized the opportunity. "We can make a new one. I can take you to a better place to set it up."

Connors hesitated—he was tempted.

---

While Gwen was still analyzing how to deal with Venom, she heard a noise to her left.

She reacted instantly, jumping up and to the right—

Avoid!

Connor's claws swiped at empty air.

Then, a sharp whistling sound rushed past her ear.

She twisted her body just in time—Harry's Goblin glider barely missed her.

"Teaming up again? How fickle!"

Gwen quickly shot out another web to create distance—why was she always the one getting ganged up on?!

This is bad. Gwen's in trouble!

Seeing Gwen besieged, Jessica rushed to support her.

"Nerd, hold off this monster for a while! I'll go help Spider-Man!"

Peter wanted to cry. "I'm the one getting hammered here!"

---

Gwen was under attack from both sides again.

This time, she doubted a black-suited Spider-Man would come out of nowhere to save her.

Then—

DADADADADADA—!

A rapid burst of gunfire suddenly echoed through the air.

Every head on the rooftop snapped toward the source—including the police surveillance drone hovering nearby.

There was no mistaking it—

It sounded like an AK rifle, yet the rate of fire was ridiculously fast, more like a machine gun.

Along with the deafening shots, sparks exploded across Connors' body as bullets tore through his scales. Flesh and blood splattered as he was forced backward under the relentless assault.

"ARGHHH—!!"

Connors roared in agony, his accelerated healing struggling to keep up with the sheer brutality of the attack.

"Who the hell—?!"

Gwen followed the fiery trail of gunfire—

At the top of the stairwell—

Ethan Lee stood, gripping an ostentatiously flashy AK rifle, still unloading into Connors!

"Ethan?!"

Gwen was both stunned and relieved.

Jessica, meanwhile, had already sprinted forward.

She leaped high into the air, raising her lightsaber—

SLASH!

Harry barely had time to react before he was forced to dodge—his Goblin glider was instantly destroyed beneath him.

He tumbled to the ground, coughing up blood.

Before he could get up, he felt something hot and searing at his throat.

Jessica had pressed her lightsaber against his neck.

"If you move, you lose your head," she warned coldly.

Ethan watched this unfold and scoffed internally.

Why are they keeping him alive?

He felt that Gwen and Jessica were too soft-hearted. This wasn't a good habit.

Maybe it was because of that damn line he had written into their 'heroic' template:

"With great power comes great responsibility."

Ugh. This is overcorrection at its finest.

This won't do. They need a reality check.

So, he acted.

He suddenly stopped shooting. "Oops, out of bullets."

Connors' pupils contracted.

After enduring so much relentless gunfire, his rage and hatred had reached their peak!

"GO TO HELL!!"

With unprecedented speed, he lunged at Ethan—

Even Gwen couldn't react in time—

Connors closed in, his massive green hand about to crush him—

But Ethan smirked—

And before Connors' claws could even touch him—

He jumped backward.

It looked exactly as if he had been swatted off the rooftop—

And plummeted into the void below.

Connors: ??

He looked down at his own palm in confusion.

Why doesn't this feel real?

Did the lizard serum unlock some kind of telekinetic attack?

Then—

"NO!!"

"ETHAN!!"

Two female voices screamed at the same time!

Connors barely had time to process this before—

A blur of black, white, and pink streaked past him—

Jessica, filled with fury, suddenly turned—

"GET LOST!"

She delivered a brutal kick to Harry, sending him flying.

He tumbled across the ground, spitting out another mouthful of blood.

Connors didn't even get a chance to react.

An icy chill crawled up his spine—

And then—

Nothing.

His green, monstrous body—

Suddenly had blue-glowing slashes carved through it.

A moment later—

It fell apart.

Chunks of flesh, scales, and severed limbs scattered across the rooftop.

Standing over the remains—

A figure clad in cold, dark armor.

A single drop of green blood splattered against her metal mask.

Jessica.

A chilling aura emanated from her.

Connors' vision blurred.

For one brief moment before death—

His mind cleared.

He understood.

It was never his 'research' that awakened him.

His final thought was—

There's something dirty going on here… Damn it, I got played.
