Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Eriri: There Are Still So Many Things Left to Do QAQ
Watching the two girls leave, chatting and laughing, Haruto glanced at the potion bottle in his hand. For a moment, he couldn't help but shiver.
This thing was terrifying.
It could turn someone into a little girl.
He wondered if it worked on cats.
Maybe the Foundation should mass-produce a batch based on the formula and run some tests.
"She's a total genius, developing an anomalous-level potion. I hope she willingly joins the Foundation. Otherwise, I'll have to find a way to trick her into signing with the Absolute Contract Codex."
He sighed.
Just as he was talking to himself, Nao suddenly jumped out from behind, trying to startle him.
Haruto turned his head They stared at each other for two seconds.
The atmosphere turned awkward.
Then, Haruto stiffly let out an "Ah," clutching his chest and taking two steps back.
"That was such bad acting!" Nao complained.
Haruto just chuckled. Nao's attention was soon drawn to the potion bottle.
"So this is the potion that turns people into girls? Whoa, no surgery required, seems pretty convenient."
Nao commented sarcastically.
Haruto shook his head.
"This is much scarier than surgery. It's a complete transformation in every way. Except for the genetic structure, it's essentially giving someone a brand-new body—otherwise, it wouldn't be considered an anomaly."
Upon hearing that, Nao's mouth slightly dropped open. "Whoa!"
Then, she turned to Haruto. "Big bro, wanna try it?"
He shivered for no reason.
"Absolutely not!"
Nao however, seemed quite excited. "Eh! Try it! Wouldn't it be fun!?"
In response, she received a flick to the forehead. After carefully storing the gender transformation potion, Haruto swore that this potion must be strictly controlled.
It must never fall into the hands of certain mischief-makers.
"Alright, let's go home. If we don't hurry, Annie is going to starve."
With that, HAruto walked out of the dessert shop, Nao grabbed the groceries and followed.
The journey home was uneventful.
When they opened the apartment door, Haruto noticed an extra pair of women's shoes at the entrance.
And they looked very familiar.
"Eriri's here too!"
Nao kicked off her shoes and excitedly ran into the living room. He shook his head helplessly and neatly placed her discarded shoes at the entrance.
Walking into the living room, he saw Eriri and Annie sitting across from each other at the dining table with Nao had already plopped down beside Eriri. After a month of interactions, the two had clearly grown closer.
"I'm making seafood porridge tonight. Sorry for the wait, I'll start preparing it now."
With that, Haruto headed toward the kitchen. Luckily, all the seafood they had bought at the market had been cleaned on-site. Otherwise, he'd have to spend extra time dealing with that.
Although he was skilled at handling ingredients, it was still time-consuming.
Taking out a traditional clay pot from China, he placed it on the stove and began cooking the porridge!
The sweet aroma of seafood slowly spread through the air. The three girls sitting at the table instinctively swallowed a mouthful of saliva.
Even Annie was no exception this time.
If she had never eaten high-quality food before, she might have remained indifferent.
But after a month of Haruto's cooking, Annie had gained a little weight—her cheeks now had a slight baby fat.
After a bit of waiting, he carried the entire pot over to the table. He placed a mat underneath to prevent the heat from damaging the table.
Then, he lifted the lid.
A rich fragrance filled the room.
Various seafood pieces were hidden within the creamy white porridge, their combined aroma making it irresistibly appetizing.
He picked up each person's bowl and served them one by one.
"Try it—this is a traditional dish from China. You'll be able to taste the natural sweetness of the seafood."
Haruto smiled as he spoke.
The three of them couldn't wait to pick up their utensils and start tasting. Eriri was the most impatient, so she burned her mouth.
However, after blowing on it for a while, she buried herself back into the battle with the porridge.
Haruto also served himself a bowl and slowly drank it.
In reality, his body no longer needed food at all.
With the transformation from the Blacklight Virus and the assimilation of Titan genes, HAruto could survive entirely through photosynthesis.
Once he absorbed the Ghoul genes later, he would probably become even more terrifying. But if he were to stop eating altogether, he would lose a lot of enjoyment.
Both cooking and eating were pleasures.
The atmosphere at the dining table was warm and pleasant.
Then—
"I'm going back to China for a while."
The statement was abrupt. As soon as Haruto said it, the atmosphere at the table froze.
The previous harmony vanished.
Eriri's eyes widened as she looked at Haruto. As a childhood friend in name, Eriri naturally knew that Haruto was actually from China.
It seemed he had drifted overseas.
An orphan.
In their first year of knowing each other, Eriri had gradually developed feelings for this boy. At that time, she had often worried; what if he suddenly returned to his home Country?
But after three years, there had never been any sign of it happening.
So Eriri had relaxed.
But... now!
Her greatest fear had come true.
Eriri's eyes instantly turned red.
"Why?"
She asked, puzzled.
There were still so many things left undone.
She hadn't confessed yet.
Was this how it would end?
Would her daily life with Haru come to an end just like that?
There were still so many things she wanted to do together.
At that thought, Eriri felt a sharp pain in her chest.
But Haruto mercilessly nodded.
Plop
A teardrop fell onto the table, shattering into several droplets that splashed outward.
Eriri lowered her head.
'Eriri! This might be your last chance! What are you doing?! Go and tell him how you feel!'
Inside her mind, she screamed at herself.
But her body wouldn't move.
Sadness had taken over.
"Uh... Eriri, why are you crying?"
Haruto's confused voice reached her.
Eriri: ???
She lifted her head in confusion.
Tears still clung to the corners of her eyes and cheeks.
"Because... because I have to... say goodbye to Haru..."
As she spoke, she sniffled.
Clearly, she had cried a lot.
Haruto reached out and rubbed Eriri's golden hair, offering comfort.
"It's just one or two months apart. Didn't you go on a study trip with your father before? It's basically the same thing."
Eriri: !?
She couldn't stop sniffling right away, but the tears ceased.
"Haru... you're not... going back forever?"
