Chapter 28: Sokovia's Shadow - The First Spark

The world was still recovering from the Hydra reveal, but for the Adapt-Alliance, a new, more immediate storm was brewing. Adam watched the news feeds, the subtle shifts in global power, the increasing reliance on the Avengers. He knew the signs. Tony Stark was about to create his masterpiece, and his biggest mistake. The spark of Ultron was about to ignite.

"Alright, team, get ready," Adam announced, his voice somber as he brought up a new holographic projection: a small, war-torn Eastern European nation. "Sokovia. And the Maximoff twins. Wanda and Pietro. They're about to make their debut. And they're going to be very angry, very powerful, and very much on Ultron's side, at least initially."

Fitz looked at the projection, his brow furrowed. "The Maximoffs? Their powers are… unique. Pietro's super-speed, Wanda's telekinesis and mental manipulation. They're Inhumans?"

"More like enhanced, courtesy of Hydra and the Mind Stone," Adam corrected, a grimace on his face. "They're victims, just like Bucky, just like Yelena. But they're also a major wild card. We need to monitor them. Understand their powers. And if possible, subtly nudge them towards the good guys, eventually."

[SYSTEM MESSAGE: CANON EVENT 'ULTRON'S FIRST APPEARANCE' IMMINENT. TARGETS 'WANDA MAXIMOFF' AND 'PIETRO MAXIMOFF' IDENTIFIED. RECOMMENDATION: OBSERVE. GATHER DATA ON 'ENHANCED ABILITIES'. PREPARE FOR 'ULTRON'S INITIAL RAMPAGE'.]

Yelena, her Light-Light Fruit humming faintly at her side, scoffed. "So, more traumatized super-powered kids. Great. Just what we needed. Can't they just have a normal childhood? Like, with ponies and ice cream? Instead of, you know, being experimented on by Nazis?" Her sarcasm was a shield, but Adam could hear the genuine concern beneath it.

"If only, Blondie. If only," Adam sighed. "Our immediate objective: monitor Ultron's first appearance. He's going to crash the Avengers' party, steal some vibranium, and generally make a nuisance of himself. We need to gather as much intel as possible on his capabilities, his weaknesses, and his plans. And we need to be ready to mitigate any collateral damage, especially in Sokovia."

Fitz, already lost in the technical details, began manipulating his holographic displays. "I can set up a wide-spectrum energy scanner. If Ultron is truly sentient A.I., he'll have a unique digital footprint. My Room-Room Fruit can create a localized data siphon, allowing us to download his initial programming without him even knowing."

Simmons nodded, her Heal-Heal Fruit glowing softly as she reviewed medical data on enhanced individuals. "And I can prepare a series of biological countermeasures. If he attempts to synthesize new bodies or infect human systems, I can develop a rapid-response antidote. And we need to understand the Maximoffs' powers, their biological limits, their energy signatures."

Yelena, meanwhile, was already preparing for a recon mission. "So, I'm the eyes and ears. Get in, get out, don't get seen. And try not to get hit by a super-speeding kid or a telekinetic teenager. Got it. Sounds like a typical Tuesday." She vanished in a golden flash, heading towards Sokovia.

Adam remained at the base, coordinating their efforts, his meta-knowledge acting as their ultimate guide. He watched as Ultron made his grand, terrifying debut at the Avengers' party, his chilling monologue echoing through the comms. He saw the first clashes, the Avengers struggling against a threat that understood them intimately. He saw Wanda and Pietro, their raw power unleashed, their anger fueling Ultron's early successes.

"He's learning. Fast," Fitz muttered, watching the data stream. "His adaptive algorithms are incredible. He's evolving with every interaction."

"And he's targeting their weaknesses. Tony's guilt, Cap's idealism, Banner's fear," Simmons added, her voice grim. "He's a psychological weapon as much as a physical one."

Yelena's reports came in, snippets of information about Ultron's movements, his resource acquisition, his growing drone army. She even managed to get a close look at the Maximoff twins, observing their powers firsthand, their raw, uncontrolled potential.

"The girl… Wanda. Her power is immense, Adam. She's ripping minds apart. And the boy… Pietro. He's a blur. Faster than anything I've ever seen, except maybe me when I'm really trying," Yelena reported, a hint of awe in her voice. "They're dangerous. But they're also… lost. Like me, once."

Adam nodded. He knew. He knew their pain, their motivations. And he knew their future. He had to ensure they made the right choices, eventually. But for now, they were a threat, a powerful, misguided force that would aid Ultron's rampage. The first spark of Ultron's war had ignited. And the Adapt-Alliance was ready to fight it, from the shadows.
