Chapter 29: The Iron Legion Falls - Alliance Intervention

The skies over Sokovia were a chaotic ballet of metal and energy. Ultron's Iron Legion, a seemingly endless swarm of drones, clashed with the Avengers, turning the city into a war zone. From their mobile command center, Adam watched the unfolding catastrophe, his jaw clenched. This was it. The big one. The moment where Ultron truly unleashed his genocidal vision.

"Alright, team, this is not a drill!" Adam barked, his voice cutting through the din of explosions and comms chatter. "Ultron's going full 'kill all humans.' We need to minimize collateral damage, save as many civilians as possible, and subtly aid the Avengers without revealing our full hand. This is our moment to shine, people. Make it count."

[SYSTEM MESSAGE: CANON EVENT 'BATTLE OF SOKOVIA' INITIATED. THREAT LEVEL: CATASTROPHIC. TEAM OBJECTIVE: CIVILIAN PROTECTION. COLLATERAL DAMAGE MITIGATION. SUBTLE AVENGERS SUPPORT. ADAPTIVE BODY READY FOR OVERWHELMING FORCE.]

"Yelena, you're on civilian extraction and rapid-response support for any Avengers who get overwhelmed. Light-Light speed, get them out of harm's way, create diversions, break up drone formations. Non-lethal, remember!" Adam commanded.

"Got it. Try not to get stepped on by a killer robot, Adam. You're too sarcastic to lose," Yelena quipped, already a golden streak vanishing from the RV.

"Fitz, Simmons, you're on tactical and medical support. Fitz, use your Room-Room Fruit to create localized containment fields for Ultron's drones, cut off their escape routes, disrupt their programming. Simmons, your Heal-Heal Fruit is crucial for rapid civilian medical aid and neutralizing any biological threats Ultron might deploy. We need to be everywhere at once, without being seen."

"My spatial algorithms are already calculating optimal containment zones, Adam! I can create a series of interconnected Rooms to funnel civilians to safety!" Fitz exclaimed, his hands glowing purple as he manipulated holographic schematics.

"And I've got a broad-spectrum antidote ready for deployment. I can also use my power to create a localized, airborne sedative for the drones, disrupting their internal systems," Simmons added, her voice calm and focused, her Heal-Heal Fruit radiating a warm light.

Adam himself vanished, reappearing in the heart of Sokovia's chaos. The city was crumbling, drones swarming, civilians screaming. He saw Captain America fighting a dozen Ultron bots, Iron Man blasting away, Thor wielding Mjolnir. He also saw the Maximoff twins, still aiding Ultron, a blur of red and silver, their powers devastating.

He engaged the Iron Legion directly. His adaptable body instantly analyzed their combat programming, their structural weaknesses, their energy signatures. He doubled their strength, their durability, their speed, then effortlessly countered them. He was a whirlwind of destruction, tearing through drones, ripping them apart with impossible ease, leaving behind piles of sparking metal. He was a phantom force, a silent, overwhelming presence that turned the tide in localized skirmishes.

He saw a building collapsing, a group of civilians trapped. Yelena was already there, a golden blur, zipping them out, one by one, to safety. Fitz, from his remote location, created a series of perfectly timed, invisible "Rooms" that diverted collapsing debris, creating temporary safe zones, or funneling drones into choke points where the Avengers could deal with them more easily.

Simmons, meanwhile, was a miracle worker on the ground. She'd appear in the midst of chaos, her hands glowing, healing wounds, neutralizing toxins, and then vanish before anyone could question her presence. She was a silent guardian, a beacon of hope in the carnage.

Adam found himself fighting alongside Captain America for a brief moment, a silent, synchronized dance against a wave of Ultron bots. Cap, momentarily overwhelmed, saw a blur of impossible speed and strength tear through the drones, taking out a dozen in a single, fluid motion. He looked at Adam, bewildered. Adam just gave him a quick, sarcastic wink, then vanished, leaving Cap to wonder if he was hallucinating.

He saw Wanda Maximoff, her eyes glowing red, tearing apart a building. He couldn't engage her directly, not yet. But he could subtly interfere. He created a momentary spatial distortion around her, a tiny, undetectable ripple in reality that caused her telekinetic grip to falter for a split second, forcing her to re-focus, giving the Avengers a precious opening.

The battle raged, a symphony of destruction and heroism. The Adapt-Alliance worked flawlessly, a well-oiled machine, their combined powers turning the tide, saving lives, minimizing damage, all while remaining unseen. They were the unseen hand, the silent guardians, ensuring the canon played out as it should, but with a slightly less horrific body count.

Finally, the city began to rise, Ultron's ultimate plan. Adam felt the ground tremble, the sheer scale of the catastrophe. He knew the Avengers would stop him. He knew Tony would make his sacrifice. His job was done here. For now.

He reappeared in the RV, exhausted but satisfied. Yelena was already there, leaning against the wall, breathing heavily. Fitz and Simmons were frantically analyzing the battle data, their faces grim but determined.

"We did it," Adam said, a tired smile on his face. "Sokovia is still a mess, but it's not completely gone. And a lot more people survived. Good job, team. Now, about that looming political fallout…"
