Chapter 48: Chapter 48 A really awkward morning

The next morning…

"Ugh… my head. Guess I had a bit too much, last night," Mirko awoke with a startling headache.

'Wait, why am I naked, and why do my legs feel so weak?' she thought, as more sensations came back to her, after which Mirko nervously looked to her side, with a very bad premonition.

And when she saw, what – or rather who – lay next to her, her brain short circuited and her eyes grew wider and wider.

Now, Mirko was fully awake. No matter how tired she may have felt before, now… now she was wide awake.

'Oh god! I've slept with a minor! How the hell did this even happen?' the moment she cursed inwardly, she tried recalling what had happened and possibly led up to this situation, but her thinking was instantly interrupted by another wave of pain from her hangover.

She was then, slowly but surely, able to think again. She remembered that today, her quirk over-stimulation should've ended, which meant… yesterday it was still active.

Over-stimulation… headache, or rather hangover, meaning drinking… teenager in midst of puberty...

Mirko had a horrified look on her face, as she put the pieces of the puzzle together. The worst thing? She didn't even know if she should be angry at him, herself, or even just try to act like nothing ever happened, in the first place.

'Yeah, right. As if that was possible, now…' she reached the conses that she needed to talk about this with Souta. If the need arises, she would beg, that he tells no one.

'Just what have I done, now…'

At that moment, something next to her began moving. It seemed, Souta was waking up.

She was simply too horrified to move, and was therefore completely frozen in shock, her brain completely stopping.

On the other side of the bed, Souta was slowly waking up, mumbling a bit, while he did so. Somehow, this night's sleep seemed to have been a lot more rejuvenating than any other he had ever had before.

It was only when he tried reaching for his phone on the nightstand, where it always lay, that he noticed something off.

Something way off.

Instead of feeling his phone, or at least the nightstand, he felt… something soft, and somewhat… bouncy.

When his brain tried to understand what was going on, he looked up from the pillow, and his brain… shut down once more.

As if not believing what he was seeing, Souta willed his hand unconsciously, and in turn received a heavily blushing and angry reaction from the beauty next to him.

It was quickly followed with a kick directed at his abdomen, launching him straight out of the bed, just as god created him.

Still inside the bed, Mirko was blushing profoundly, while burying herself deep in the blanket.

Right now, the usually fierce and energetic Mirko, was reduced to a state akin to a startled and hurt kitten.

After that, a very awkward and tense silence ensued, which was eventually broken, due to Souta getting up, taking his clothes, and heading out of the room.

It was only when she heard his door closing, that Mirko came out of her 'hole', now even more embarrassed.

Both remained in their rooms for a couple of minutes, in which they dressed themselves. And then, coincidentally left them at the very same moment, causing another awkward moment.

They avoided eye contact, as if it could've killed them. Then, one after the other, headed downstairs.

Souta had also already packed his stuff, but left it in the room for now. What would follow, might take a while…

-----

After a light breakfast, also eaten in silence, Souta had enough. He rather have her yell at him, or curse him out, than this.

"I'm terri-" "Please nev-" both began at the same time, but stopped instantly upon hearing the other speak as well.

Souta tried being a gentleman, and let her start, so she did. "Please, never tell anyone about this. I'm utterly ashamed that I've brought you into such a situation, but this… it can never come out…"

'He seems… surprised?' was Mirko's first thought, upon seeing his reaction, and then he responded, "Wh- Why are you apologizing? It was me that abused the situation. I should have put an end to it immediately, but… I didn't. I didn't want to. Something inside of me wanted it, and I did not stop it."

Now it was Mirko's turn in being surprised, she had thought it was her who had initiated it – which she actually had, but didn't fully know – but she also couldn't fault Souta.

By now, the fog in her mind also started clearing up, it wasn't like she had a blackout or anything like that, after all. But, it made this all not any easier, because due to now remembering most of it, she could also feel that they were both heavily at fault.

The rabbit woman sighed heavily, "Okay, for the sake of both of us, we should simply never talk about what happened, and make sure it doesn't happen again, okay?"

Souta hesitated for just a second, before responding, "Yes, I agree."

After that, a short silence ensued again, which was quickly broken by Souta, when he looked at a clock on wall, "Oh damn, is it so late already? Right… I can't simply teleport back… Oh god, I need to hurry!"

Then he stormed upstairs, got his bag, as well as the metal case, in which his U.A. issued hero costume was stored, and descended the stairs again.

He quickly said his goodbyes, since they had already exchanged contacts a few days ago, and then rushed towards the train station.

The train station itself, was about 20 minutes away, and he had 30 left until his train was supposed to leave, therefore technically enough time, but one never knew.

Souta made it in 15 minutes, but fumbled around a bit with the ticket and with finding the right platform, since his mind was still heavily concerned about this morning – well, last night…

Eventually, the train arrived, and Souta went inside, looked for his seat, and settled himself in. The case and his bag were kept close, since both held things he didn't want to, or simply couldn't afford to lose.

A few moments after getting settled in, as quite a few people were still boarding the train, Souta noticed a lot of stairs directed at him, 'Suppose such exotic and weird hair does indeed catch attention.'

For the rest of the way, he simply tried ignoring the stares, something he had already somewhat experience in, from being the child of endeavor. The ride took a couple hours, but ultimately arrived a little bit before the supposed schedule.

Souta nevertheless, looked for the location that they were told about, and found it soon afterwards. Most of his classmates were already there, when he arrived.

The moment he stepped closer, his friends immediately noticed him, and came over.

Denki was the first to speak, although shouting would've been just as right, "Whoa, you really look completely different, man! Though, it actually looks quite fine…"

Next was Mina, who was nearly fussing over him, "Yes! Yes, it looks totes amazing! And those golden eyes…"

Then it was Kirishima's turn, though, his topic was different to the others, "Dude, about that problem… is it alright again, or are there still no good news?"

Souta distanced himself a bit from the overenthusiastic Mina, and shook his head, "Nope. Not really, at least nothing noteworthy. I'm planning to ask Aizawa-sensei to help me with it when we get back to U.A., hopefully that should help."

They continued talking a bit more. About what each had experienced in their internships, what they had learned, or what kinds of ideas they have come up with for their quirks, until someone came up to them.

When the young heroes stopped their conversation and turned to the person who had approached, they were met with a young boy, his mother slightly trailing behind, "Whoa, are you- are you Axiom Peak?"

The boy's eyes practically sparkled.

Souta, was a bit caught off guard. He hadn't expected to be recognized any time soon, especially not after his sudden transformation, so he responded with a bit of awkwardness, but sincerity in his voice, "Y-yeah, that would be me, how may I help you?"

Hearing the confirmation, the boy was nearly beaming with happiness, "Ca-can we take a picture…? Please."

By this point, the boy's mother arrived by his side, and bowed in apology, "I'm truly sorry for my child, but after seeing a video on the internet yesterday, he has become somewhat of a fan of yours..."

'Video?' Souta didn't know what kind of video, but that wasn't too important right now. For now, he calmed her down first, and offered to take that picture with the young boy.

When he did, the boy was overjoyed, and the mother also put on a relieved smile. Souta put down his bag and case next to his friends, and then made himself ready for the picture.

The mother made a quick picture of the two, bowed again in gratitude, and left afterwards alongside her child.

As soon as both of them had disappeared, Souta turned to his friends again, "So, what video did the woman talk about? Does any of you know about it?"

In response, Mina quickly pulled out her phone, and after a few short taps, nearly shoved it into his face. On it, a recording of the fight at the end of the whole conflict yesterday.

Apparently, someone recorded it all. The video started shortly after Souta's brawl with the Nomu began, and showed it until the very end, where he landed on the ground again, and then fell unconscious.

"Seriously, dude, haven't you checked your phone at all yesterday?" Denki asked puzzled.

Souta shook his head, "I only did some research into something, but nothing more. And I also have most notifications turned off. Since no one messaged me about it, it went totally over my head, with everything that happened yesterday."

Before they could talk more, Aizawa-sensei's voice was heard about the prior murmurs of the students, and silence them. "Alright, everyone is present, we will now head back to school."

No one protested, or said anything against it, and simply followed the direction he walked in. Though, the murmurs started nearly instantly again.

Soon, school life would return to normalcy. Hopefully.
