Chapter 1: Chapter 1 - Hospital
[Note: Feel free to skip this. I'd like to say that this fanfiction will get dark later on so be warned. I would also like to apologize because English is not my native language, so hopefully the text is pleasant to read regardless. I am also quite busy with school, so I'll only update this story a few times a week or at least once. Thanks for reading.]
A boy lay alone in an empty hospital room, unconscious. His head was swathed in bandages, but a few strands of light green hair extended from below the bandages and onto his forehead. A cannula was attached to his arm and one of his eyes was covered by a white path.
A series of wires flowed from his chest to a steadily beeping heart rate monitor by the bed. The rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor quickened as the boy stirred in his bed, his uncovered light blue eye slowly opening as he woke up.
His lone eye, heavy with grogginess and confusion, scanned the sterile hospital room. He raised his arm to rub his throbbing head, expecting to feel the familiar texture of his hair. Instead, his fingers met the rough surface of bandages. The realization hit him, something was very wrong. His hand was different, his body too.
"It must be the head injury... I must have amnesia or something..." He spoke out loud with a sluggish voice, struggling to string words together. He looked around the sterile room and out of a large window. A seemingly endless urban landscape sprawled as far as he could see. His gaze soon locked on a tall snowcapped mountain that dominated the view.
'That's Mount Fuji... I am in Japan, but how did I get here?' He rubbed his aching head, trying to recall, what happened to him and how he ended up here. He only managed to remember hearing a loud screeching noise from behind before something slammed into him, after that, everything was just blank before he woke up here.
'I was running home from the gym… then a car hit me? But that still doesn't explain why I'm in Japan. Am I delirious?' He struggled to focus, his thoughts clouded by the throbbing pain in his head.
'I am in a hospital, so there must be a call button somewhere.' He lifted his arm to feel around his body to look for the button. He didn't find the button, but he did find a loose bracelet around his wrist that had something written on it. 'Itsuki Midoria... That is not my name...' He looked at the identification wristband with confusion.
'My wrists are a bit thinner than they used to and my hands too. My bracelet has the wrong name on it and I am in a place I should not be in. Is this a dream or have I reincarnated?' Itsuki pinched his forearm, slapped his face, and even tried imagining a fireball forming in his palm to no avail.
'Could I still be in a coma and unable to wake up? If this was a regular dream I should be able to wake myself up or control it, since I am lucid.' The possibility that he had reincarnated seemed more and more plausible the more he thought.
Itsuki gave up on contemplating his predicament and started to look for the button again. However, his attention was quickly stolen away again, by a poster hung on the white plaster wall. On the poster, there was an enormous muscular man clad in a blue bodysuit doing a double bicep pose with a bright smile on his face.
'That's fucking All Might from My Hero Academia.'
He had watched that show for two seasons and thought that it was okay. He didn't have any particularly strong opinions about it. The girls were hot the plot was solid enough, but there was just a little bit too much crying for his liking, so he didn't finish it.
'If I really reincarnated into this world, it's unfortunate that I didn't watch the later parts of the show. Still, I should know enough to manage.'
Itsuki was lost in thought when the door was slammed open with a loud bang, jolting him back to reality. A beautiful young nurse hurried inside, her eyes immediately locking onto his. "He is awake!" The nurse yelled into the hallway, and soon medical staff began to flood into the room.
They were frantically checking on him, asking if he was hurting anywhere, telling him to lie down and not to move while they checked his head. Itsuki just kept answering the questions he was asked and following the instructions he was given, letting the medical personnel do their job.
The situation around him calmed down soon and the medical staff began leaving the room one by one untill just the beautiful female nurse was left. "I know all this must be scary for you, but there is nothing imminently dangerous going on with you." The nurse spoke gently.
Itsuki was glad the hassle around him had calmed down, answering so many questions was tiring due to the intense headache he was experiencing. He had a lot of questions to ask.
"What happened to me?" Itsuki asked looking at the nurse. He didn't even bother to resist the urge to leer at the girl's rear end despite his situation, her butt had some nice size to it and the shape wasn't bad either. He was never the type to mindlessly lust after every woman he saw, but he wasn't gay and there wasn't exactly much else to look at.
The nurse soon stopped fiddling with the bag and turned around. "According to the report, you lost control of your quirk and caused a lot of damage, hurting your head in the process." Itsuki could tell that the nurse was withholding details from him.
'I guess that seals the deal. I am in My Hero Academia.' Itsuki thought and looked out of the window. Honestly, his old world was a bit boring compared to this one. There was the looming threat of the villains taking over the world present in this one, but he didn't particularly care which side won.
Itsuki kept staring out the window, pondering about the future and all the possible paths open to him. He is not particularly keen on becoming a righteous hero or an evil villain. A mix of both would be optimal and he was confident he could achieve it.
He could already imagine himself with a defeated heroine whimpering beneath his feet during the night and then basking in the spotlight receiving admiration for his heroic deeds the next day.
"I'm sorry, but my memory is a little fuzzy. Can you tell me what my quirk is?"
