MHA Dungeon Master

Chapter 26: Dojo

After conquering my great fear of horror, the second obstacle preventing me from advancing was my woeful lack of combat skills.

Although I had trained my body for an entire year and managed to become twenty-six times stronger than the average adult, my combat skills were still extremely weak, one could even say pitiful.

Every time I entered that cursed dungeon, I was only able to survive for a short time before finally being humiliatingly defeated by vampires whose combat skills were far, far superior to mine.

It's a pity, in my previous life, I was just an ordinary human who had no fighting experience at all. I had never been involved in a street fight, let alone formal martial arts training. This pitiful condition obviously posed a very significant challenge for me in facing the formidable and deadly enemies within the dungeon.

So, to compensate for this glaring deficiency of mine, I started searching online for martial arts dojos that were not too far from my home yet had good reviews and a solid reputation.

I hoped to find the right training place that could help me improve my combat skills significantly and quickly. I sifted through the various options, read testimonials from previous students, and compared the training curriculum offered.

After I finished choosing a martial arts dojo that suited my needs and preferences, I quickly left my cozy room and approached Emilia, who was busy drawing in the living room.

I wanted to discuss this important plan with her and see if she would be interested in joining martial arts training with me. I believed that training together would be more effective and fun, as well as strengthen our bond of brotherhood.

First, I gently tapped Emilia's shoulder, who was currently very focused on her drawing, to get her attention. I wanted to make sure she really heard and understood what I was about to say, as this concerned both of our safety and progress.

"Emilia, it seems that I've just realized a crucial issue that could greatly hinder your path to revenge," I said with a serious face and a deliberately heavy tone of voice, hoping that she understood how important this issue we were about to face was. I wanted him to realize that this wasn't just another exercise, but an important preparation for our ultimate goal.

"What problem?" she asked me back nervously and curiously, her round eyes showing great interest. He seemed to be anticipating something important and thrilling.

"It's about our combat experience," I replied briefly, trying to explain concisely and clearly how essential this aspect was to our future success. I emphasized the word "our" to show that this was a problem we were facing together, and that we had to find a solution together.

"So, to compensate for our alarming lack of skills, I plan to sign up for martial arts training at a dojo. I've already chosen the dojo we want to visit. Would you like to join me?" I asked in a hopeful tone, sincerely hoping that she would agree to take part in this training.

I imagined our joint training would be a fun experience and strengthen our relationship, besides of course improving our fighting skills.

"Of course," she replied firmly without the slightest hesitation, showing her unanimous willingness to participate in this challenging training. Her eyes sparkled with excitement, as if she couldn't wait to start this new adventure with me. I smiled with relief and pride at her enthusiasm.

The next day, after school hours, Emilia and I rushed to the dojo we had chosen. Our steps were eager, filled with anticipation and determination.

With a burning passion, we prepared ourselves to begin intensive martial arts training, which would be the first and fundamental step in honing our raw combat skills.

We hope that the training we are about to undergo will truly help us face the enemies we will encounter in the future more effectively, efficiently, and confidently.

For your information, the system's daily task of exercising has now significantly changed to the task of clearing monsters. The system presents new challenges that are much more relevant and appropriate to my current situation. This indicates that the system continues to adapt to my progress and needs.

However, unlike the previous daily task collection time, the system now provides an annual task collection deadline. This significant change gave me a much longer and more flexible period of time to complete these tasks. In an entire year, I had to defeat a thousand vampires, which averaged out to about three vampires per day.

Although it may seem small, this is by no means an easy task to do, especially with my current level of ability. This task clearly required skill and strategy, as well as persistence and determination.

But in reality, already a whole month had passed, and I had just managed to conquer my horrible horror fear, yet I had not even managed to kill a single vampire. Lack of combat skills was the main reason for my crushing defeat against those vampires in that terrifying dungeon.

Thus, in order to effectively and efficiently carry out the tasks of the system, I really needed to become a true martial arts expert. These skills were obviously crucial and invaluable for surviving in a dungeon filled with dangers and deadly monsters.

Before coming for martial arts training today, I had used one of the three precious system rewards, which allowed me to transform the talent I had chosen earlier into a genius-level talent.

This reward was a golden and significant opportunity to improve my skills quickly and drastically. Without hesitation, I chose the martial arts talent that was most suitable and relevant to my current situation and needs.

By choosing this marvelous talent, I hope to become much stronger quickly and be ready to face any upcoming challenges, both inside and outside the dungeon.

You might be wondering, why don't I use this martial arts talent directly and immediately face those vampires to understand their fighting abilities firsthand?

Of course, I had a strong and logical reason for not doing so. I wanted to lay a solid and strong foundation for my combat skills by practicing martial arts first at this professional and reliable dojo.

I did want to emulate and master the combat skills of the formidable vampires, but I was only given three chances to revive per day. If I died in the dungeon after using that talent without careful preparation, I would also die permanently in the real world.

So, the best strategy in my opinion was to first train myself intensively in the dojo, then apply all the results of my training in actual dungeon battles. By doing this, I hoped to complete the tasks of the system faster, more effectively, and more efficiently, without having to risk unnecessary death.

This well-thought-out plan was the crucial first step towards success in facing all the dangerous challenges presented by the system.

The dojo where we signed up looked grand and impressive with its large gates and quiet, beautiful surroundings. Amidst the soothing tranquility, the aroma of the well-manicured garden added to the peaceful and calming atmosphere of the place. The dojo building stood sturdy and graceful, adorned with traditional Japanese ornaments that gave it an authoritative and dignified appearance.

"Welcome to our dojo. My name is Kendo Mamoru. How may I help you?" Kendo Mamoru greets us with a warm and friendly smile, his calm and authoritative voice full of warmth and genuine hospitality.

As we entered the gates of the dojo, we were greeted by a gentle and friendly middle-aged man named Kendo Mamoru, who seemed to be around my father's age. He looked authoritative yet friendly, with eyes that radiated kindness and the wisdom of rich life experience. Kendo Mamoru welcomed us very warmly, making us feel comfortable and welcome in the place.

"We would like to sign up for martial arts training, Kendo-san," I said enthusiastically and eagerly, my voice trembling slightly with excitement and hope to start training at this place soon.

Kendo Mamoru smiled even wider and kindly escorted us to the registration desk located near the entrance. After the quick and efficient registration process was completed, we quickly changed into the provided training uniforms and prepared to start our first training session.

We were both very excited and eager to learn martial arts directly from Kendo Mamoru, who seemed very experienced and skilled in this field.

Kendo Mamoru patiently and kindly introduced us to the other students who were already practicing at the dojo, including his own daughter, who was the same age as us.

His daughter was Itsuka, a friendly, cheerful, and very enthusiastic young girl. She had short, bright orange hair tied into a side ponytail, giving her a bright and energetic look. Itsuka seemed very happy and excited to start training with us.

"This is Kendo Itsuka, my daughter. She will also be training with you," Kendo Mamoru said proudly and affectionately, introducing his daughter to us with a big smile.

"Hello everyone, nice to meet you all. Let's train together!" Kendo Itsuka greets us with a big, contagious smile, her cheerful and energetic voice making the atmosphere more lively and fun.

The training began with the basics of martial arts, such as learning basic stances, straight punches, and simple kicks. We were taught how to master these basic movements correctly, effectively, and efficiently.

Kendo Mamoru was a very patient and thorough instructor, giving clear and easy-to-understand instructions, and helping each of his students understand each move correctly. He observed our every move carefully, giving constructive corrections and helpful suggestions for improvement.

Although this was only our first training session, I showed great talent and progressed very rapidly, thanks to the effects of the talent booster I had used before coming to this place.

Every move felt so easy and natural to me, as if I had been practicing martial arts for years. I quickly and smoothly mastered every basic move taught by Kendo Mamoru, leaving everyone who saw it impressed and amazed, including Itsuka herself.

"You're learning so fast, Himaru-san. Very impressive!" Itsuka said with an admiring tone and sparkling eyes, astonished by my unexpected learning ability. Her eyes glittered, showing genuine admiration and respect.

"Thank you, Kendo-san. I'm just trying my best," I replied humbly, feeling a little embarrassed by Itsuka's praise of me.

"Just call me Itsuka, since my father is also named Kendo. It'll be less confusing. You too, Emilia-chan," Itsuka said cheerfully, trying to make the atmosphere more familiar, relaxed, and friendly.

"Alright then, Itsuka-san," I replied in response to her request politely.

"Itsuka," Emilia replied briefly and clearly, agreeing to Itsuka's invitation to call her by name only.
