Minato May Have Been Your Father But He Ain't Your Daddy

He was a 'Sinner' who deserved to die but couldn't and shouldn't die. Death was not a punishment to him but a kind of release. 

And Hiruzen didn't want to take the easy way out, he didn't deserve to take the easy way out.

This life was a kind of punishment for him and it wouldn't do if he ended it quickly. 

He also had the burden known as Konoha to consider, to others the position of Hokage might be prestigious, and for him too that was the case at least during the first decade.

But after living through two wars and having to watch allies and friends die, witnessing happy families crumbling, the tears, the heartaches, death and destruction, he was just tired. 

This position that he was happy to sit in and felt pride over didn't seem that great anymore.

He always felt like he was carrying the weight of the lives of all the people and shinobi under him.

At first, he could bear this weight but as more time passed he couldn't help but find it difficult to bear this weight. 

He was reduced to this empty husk of a person and Biwako's death was the last straw.

She was one of the few people who were anchoring him to this life and made him able to bear the weight of the responsibility entailed by the position of Hokage. 

He truly felt lost at that time, he wanted to grieve his wife's death but he couldn't, he wasn't in a position to.

There were a lot of people depending on him and he couldn't let them down and Konoha couldn't afford his absense.

Konoha was the weakest now and he couldn't help but blame himself for it. 

Sensei, Shodaime, Mito-sama, Kagami, Shun, Kaede, Shinnosuke, Biwako, and

Minato must all be disappointed with him. He didn't know how to face them when he joined them. 

He couldn't help but feel that he was not suitable for the position of Hokage, maybe that time he should have stayed behind instead of sensei to hold back the enemies.

At least with Tobirama sensei, Konoha wouldn't be in this current state. 

He really didn't want to sit in the position of Hokage but he couldn't pass it on to a suitable heir, he had three disciples who were excellent for this position but all three of them had their own problems. 

Orochimaru was engrossed in forbidden research and he would rather be interested in experimenting on his fellow shinobi than governing the village. 

Jiraiya was the perfect fit for the job, but too bad he wasn't interested in the position at all.

It's not that Hiruzen hadn't tried, but he gave up after being rejected multiple times.

Jiraiya was off somewhere in the elemental nations searching for a prophesized child who would bring peace to the lands. 

Hiruzen felt it was unreliable but he didn't say anything to discourage Jiraiya because he understood this was a way for Jiraiya to cope with the death and destruction he had experienced in the war.

He always knew Jiraiya was more of a gentle soul and he was someone who was not suited for the profession of a shinobi. 

So he let him be, and Jiraiya did write good porn.....

Then his last disciple and the disciple who had the most complicated feelings towards....Tsunade.

In a way, he had let down Tsunade too much. And she had every right to be upset at him, so he didn't bother to call her back to the village because he knew she would ignore his summons. 

And he truly felt ashamed to ask her for help, as Konoha had truly disappointed their Princess. 

Senju clan, equivalent to royalty in Konoha reduced to just one member and it was indirectly ( directly ) related to their own village. 

A clan that was one of the founders of the village has been reduced to this state. No wonder she left this place, even he would feel suffocated staying in a place like this. 

Tsunade was perfect for the role whether it be her political background or her qualification.

She is the granddaughter of the First Hokage, the best Medical ninja in all of the elemental nations, A Kage level shinobi, a disciple of the Third Hokage and used to be the contemporary Matriarch of the Senju clan. 

But he couldn't ask her to take on the role when she resented the higher-ups, after all that had happened it would be a miracle if she even decided to come back to the village.....but that was what happened, a miracle..... A miracle by the name of Itsuki Senju....

To think that the village would be saved by a Senju, Senjus who they let down. 

It was funny to think how much the village owed their success and prosperity to the Senju's. 

The Village was established by a Senju, the village weapon along with the host for the said weapon was provided through the relationship with the Senju, The basic structure and administration and working of the village were created and put into action by another Senju, the level of Iryo-nins was elevated by a Senju and this Senju was one of the key reasons why many people were still alive and their victory against Suna in the 3rd World war. 

His own life was saved by a Senju and now during this time of peril, the village is being saved by yet another Senju.

An interesting coincidence.....
