Chapter 1969: -1928- [ Ozymandias ]
After Rozen led the main force out of the desert, a sandstorm swept across the desert again.
However, there was one place untouched by the storm.
It was a temple.
A temple so radiant and magnificent, as if multiple buildings had been combined into one, making it incredibly vast.
Around the temple, sphinxes stood like the most loyal guardians, watching over this place.
In the innermost part of the temple, in a hall resembling a royal chamber, a man sat on a throne.
He was a handsome man with golden eyes like the sun, wearing luxurious golden attire and draped in a white cloak, giving the impression that he was constantly radiating brilliance.
He was the Sun King.
He was Ozymandias, also known as Ramses II.
At this moment, the man, whose real name was Ozymandias, sat on the throne, looking weary, supporting his chin with one hand.
Until a moment later, Ozymandias lifted his head.
A mirror appeared silently before him.
"Sorry to disturb your rest, Pharaoh, Ozymandias," said the voice of Nitocris, currently in the Atlas Temple.
Nitocris was using magic to communicate with Ozymandias from afar.
Ozymandias raised his eyes to look at the respectful Nitocris and spoke with a tone of arrogance, "Has the Master of Chaldea left?"
"Yes, Pharaoh," Nitocris answered honestly. "Not long ago, the Master of Chaldea left our territory with the Mountain People, rejecting the precious opportunity to meet the King. Truly a sinner."
"A sinner, indeed..." Ozymandias scoffed, "To be in my presence is the utmost honor. Rejecting such honor should warrant execution. But since it's that Master, I shall let it go."
From this remark, one could sense just how self-centered the king was.
"You are truly magnanimous, Pharaoh," Nitocris complimented, seemingly understanding, "The Master is fortunate to receive such attention from the Pharaoh."
Upon hearing this, Ozymandias raised an eyebrow.
"It seems you're curious as to why I have been so lenient with that Master, Nitocris."
Ozymandias, as if seeing through Nitocris' thoughts, spoke.
"No... not at all..." Nitocris stammered, "Sorry, Pharaoh, I do have some doubts."
Nitocris was well aware that Ozymandias was not only a great king but also a terrifying one.
When he favored something, he could be extremely generous and broad-minded, but that did not mean he was merciful.
Self-proclaimed as the King of Kings, and considering himself the God of Gods, Ozymandias possessed unparalleled arrogance and pride.
He never looked down on anyone, but when dealing with others, he would look down on them equally, never considering anyone as his equal, even if they were gods.
Thus, even when he learned of the arrival of the Master of Chaldea and understood Rozen's special status, he would not treat him any differently.
Therefore, had Rozen traveled through the desert, overcoming the sandstorm and sphinxes, to reach the temple, Ozymandias would have considered him a capable hero, hosting him as a reward.
However, for the king to take such actions before even meeting Rozen, such as preventing the sandstorm and commanding the sphinxes to refrain from attacking, even protecting the insignificant Mountain People for his sake, was not in line with Ozymandias' usual conduct.
Nitocris, though easily swayed and a good talker, was not a fool. In fact, she was quite clever and had long been suspicious, only now raising the question.
But how could she know?
"I am the Sun, the embodiment of Ra. As the Sun God and the Sun King, when it comes to the Sun, that is me. There is no other connection," Ozymandias spoke in a tone of certainty, but a smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
"And that Master, it seems, has received the blessing of the Sun God. Since the moment he descended into this world, I have felt the presence of the Sun within him."
It was a different aura from the one bestowed upon the knight, Gawain.
Gawain had merely received the power of the Sun and wielded it as a human knight.
But Rozen was different.
The power was not merely granted by the Sun; it seemed as if the Sun itself had been conquered and controlled by him.
Ozymandias' tone grew more intrigued.
"Throughout history, many humans have received the blessing of the Sun. But to control the Sun? That has never happened before. Such an achievement would surely make him a Pharaoh in our Egypt. As the embodiment of the Sun, the King of Gods, I must acknowledge him. If he were a hero I admired, I would even consider calling him my brother."
Upon hearing this, Nitocris was taken aback.
"So he would become the Pharaoh's brother...!" Nitocris said, slightly flustered, "It is unforgivable that I did not bring the Pharaoh's brother to the temple..."
Ozymandias immediately waved his hand.
"Never mind. This was just a moment of whimsy. Even if it did not succeed, the loss is his—he will never receive the glory that could have been his. It has nothing to do with you."
Ozymandias then stroked his chin, lost in thought.
"Rather than that, since he left my domain, it means he has confirmed that I do not wish to intervene in their war with the Lion King. They are indeed prepared for battle with the Goddess of the Holy Lance."
Ozymandias did not need Nitocris to report this; he had already seen through Rozen's actions and thoughts.
"Now I am curious to see what he can do, facing the lord of the end, a figure I would not dare easily challenge."
A smile appeared on Ozymandias' face again, as he watched Rozen with full attention.
The trajectory of this Singularity, the conflict between the Lion King and the Black King—Ozymandias had been prepared to observe from the beginning, and he would continue to do so until the end.
"Let me witness the different outcomes brought about by the choices of the Masters of the Holy Sword and the Holy Spear," Ozymandias muttered.
Then, Ozymandias spoke to the other human he was paying attention to.
"And what will be your choice?"
"Knight of the Shining Airgetlam."
