Chapter 2379: -2379- Royals of Aldegyr
"You... you are...?"
Looking at the couple following behind La Folia, not only Kanase Kanon, but even Akatsuki Nagisa couldn't help but become visibly surprised.
It wasn't just because the couple had distinct features and an outstanding presence—but also their appearance.
That lion-like burly man aside, the noblewoman looked like she was carved from the same mold as La Folia, only far more mature.
With a couple like that accompanying La Folia, did their identities really need guessing?
"Let me introduce them to everyone,"
While everyone was still stunned and in disbelief, La Folia cheerfully and casually made the introduction.
"These two are my biological father and mother."
Yes.
This couple was La Folia's birth parents.
Which meant—
"The current King and Queen Consort of the Kingdom of Aldegyr...!?"
Nagisa covered her mouth in shock.
"Ugh..."
Avrora Florestina stiffened up completely.
Kanon also slightly widened her eyes.
Because if this couple were truly the reigning monarchs of Aldegyr, then they shared a deep connection with her.
After all, Kanon was the illegitimate daughter of the previous king of Aldegyr, the biological aunt of La Folia, and the Queen's half-sister.
In other words...
"You're Kanase Kanon, right?"
The noblewoman who was the current Queen of Aldegyr looked gently at Kanon and spoke softly.
"I'm Polifonia Rihavein, your older sister—we share the same father."
Polifonia Rihavein was the biological daughter of the previous king of Aldegyr.
As for the man beside her, he had married into the Aldegyr royal family and ascended as its king—Lucas Rihavein.
Rozen had recognized them the moment he saw them.
For no other reason than that this king had appeared on television many times and had been interviewed often, so Rozen had a strong impression of him.
However, this king seemed to be in a foul mood today. From the moment he walked in, he had been glaring at Rozen as if he wanted to kill him, which left Rozen quite baffled.
Meanwhile, things around them had grown lively.
"Sister! It's your big sister, Kanon-chan! Your sister showed up!"
Nagisa, both nervous and delighted, kept tugging at Kanon's sleeve.
"Sister...?"
Avrora's gaze flickered back and forth between Kanon and Polifonia, and then she seemed to realize the truth.
It couldn't be helped—though Polifonia looked more than twenty years older than Kanon, the two shared an undeniable similarity.
Polifonia's gentle and charming smile was not quite the same as Kanon's pure and sacred aura, but both exuded a gentle warmth that could bring comfort to others.
There was no doubt that they were sisters.
Even though Kanon, the younger sister, was visibly younger than Polifonia's daughter, La Folia, it wasn't something anyone could question.
"I've always wanted to meet you. It looks like you've been living well under the care of the Witch of the Void. That's a relief."
Polifonia glanced at Nagisa and Avrora, who were huddled with Kanon, and smiled contentedly.
"H-Hello."
Kanon finally recovered from her shock and awkwardly bowed, looking like she didn't quite know how to react.
Seeing her like this, La Folia gently offered advice.
"No need to be so nervous, Kanon," La Folia said with rare tenderness. "You don't need to think about the royal family's status or roles. Just remember that to us here, you're family—and that's enough."
"That's right." Polifonia nodded in agreement, smiling at Kanon. "Though few in our country know of your existence, and your appearance did cause some chaos, setting aside our irresponsible father, Mother decided to accept you after hearing about you. You should know, as Queen, Mother was infamous for her ruthlessness. Many of our father's mistresses and illegitimate children didn't survive her judgment."
The current Queen had just said something quite explosive.
At least, both Nagisa and Avrora were visibly terrified.
Kanon, however, was now strangely calm.
"Thank you."
She didn't try to cling, didn't show any other emotion—just bowed her head and gave thanks.
That desireless demeanor brought satisfaction to both La Folia and Polifonia.
Perhaps it was exactly because of Kanon's selfless nature that the Aldegyr royal family had decided to accept her.
Otherwise, the sudden appearance of a royal illegitimate daughter—especially one who had inherited Aldegyr's exceptional Spirit Medium aptitude—would have caused countless issues tied to national interest.
As Polifonia had said, her mother—the former Queen of Aldegyr—was infamous for dealing harshly with her husband's mistresses and illegitimate children. Likely because they had ambitions stemming from their royal blood, threatening the kingdom's stability, she had executed them in the name of duty.
In contrast, Kanon had no such desires. Her attitude was a relief, and the decision to accept her was clearly carefully considered.
The problem was...
"The distinguished King and Queen Consort have come all the way here—I doubt it's just to visit Kanon, right?"
Rozen finally stood up and spoke casually.
"If there's something you wish to discuss, and we're in the way, we can step out."
His words, full of implication, drew all eyes toward him.
Especially Lucas's gaze, which was like a ferocious tiger, filled with killing intent. Rozen could practically feel the urge to punch the man in the face.
Unlike Lucas, however, Polifonia looked at Rozen with curiosity and thoughtful appraisal.
As expected.
"You must be Minamiya Nichiyo, the Divine Child who ended this war, yes?"
Polifonia offered a graceful curtsy toward Rozen.
"It is an honor to meet you. Thank you for taking care of my daughter and sister. I've heard many stories about you from my daughter. Please forgive us for the late greeting."
It seemed, unlike her husband, the Queen held Rozen in high regard.
"Hehe."
La Folia, clearly delighted by this, smiled radiantly.
But the warm attitude of his wife and daughter only seemed to further provoke Lucas.
"So it really is you—the so-called Divine Child?"
Lucas stepped up to Rozen, looking down at him condescendingly and sneering as he spoke.
"You're skinny and short—not manly at all. Doesn't seem like anything special to me."
From the moment he opened his mouth, this king's tone had been hostile.
Rozen had to admit:
"I really want to punch him in the face."
That was his most honest thought.
