Miracle Summoner

Chapter 2437: -2337- A gathering of outsiders

After quite a bit of chaos, everyone finally managed to settle down and properly finish their breakfast.

Even Ishtar, in the midst of her furious mood, was wolfing down her food—devouring nearly half the breakfast that Siduri had brought—completely lacking the self-restraint one would expect from a goddess of beauty.

This was probably due to the influence of the magus girl whose personality had fused with Ishtar's, wasn't it?

Because she was a Pseudo-Servant, the current Ishtar was essentially a fusion of the mythological goddess Ishtar and the magus girl summoned from the distant future. As such, the resulting personality was neither purely Ishtar nor the magus girl, but a blended form of the two.

Naturally, the divine aspect of her personality still occupied the larger portion.

If one were to quantify it, the goddess's personality likely made up about seventy percent, while the magus girl's was about thirty percent—together forming the Ishtar that existed now.

Therefore, even Gilgamesh and others familiar with Ishtar could tell that she had changed quite a bit since this current incarnation appeared. The reason was clearly due to the magus girl's human traits tempering her behavior, making her less reckless than her mythological counterpart—noticeably milder.

That said, it was all relative.

Even if she had become more mild-mannered compared to her mythological self, this girl still judged the world through a goddess's value system—still willful, still arrogant, and still unreasonable. The only difference was that now, she knew how to hold herself back.

Maybe that was why, though Ishtar had caused a major commotion in Uruk, she didn't cause any actual casualties.

If it had been the mythological Ishtar, she would've already released Gugalanna again and let it trample the earth into ruin.

In that case, Mesopotamia might've suffered a disaster far worse than the Demonic Beast Army's invasion.

Thankfully, the current Ishtar wasn't in that kind of mindset. At most, she simply felt indignant toward Uruk, furious with humanity, and had the urge to cause a ruckus.

But now, with Altera's restraint, Ishtar could only sit down in frustration, taking out all her anger on the food.

Seeing this Ishtar, the other Servants, who had been loud and merry until now, also felt something stir in their hearts.

"So it's really true that the goddess Ishtar has already been dealt with. I thought Miss Siduri was just trying to ease our nerves," said Benkei, his expression relaxing as he sighed in relief.

"As expected of the last Master of humanity—to even be able to subdue a goddess. This Ushiwakamaru now sees you in a whole new light," Ushiwakamaru said, casting a respectful look toward Rozen.

"Mmhmm! The much-anticipated newcomer sure lives up to expectations! This Okita is very pleased!" Okita beamed brightly.

"But now we're kind of embarrassed. We've been here for half a year and haven't even taken down a single goddess, and here you show up and immediately deal with one. It's totally humiliating. But if you join my forces, we could consider your success as my merit! No time to waste—how about signing up for my Matchlock Squad? Join now and get a one-day tour of the Demonic Beast Frontline! Quite a bargain, right?" said Nobunaga, with a serious face as she made her pitch.

This made Ishtar's face twitch once again.

"'Dealt with'? 'Subdued'? Just what do you people think I am!?"

Ishtar looked like she was about to explode from sheer fury.

And so, the entire morning was spent amidst the chaos stirred by this group, to the point where Rozen didn't even know what to say anymore.

"Well, you'll get used to it."

Merlin wore an unaffected expression, as if it had nothing to do with him.

"Sigh..."

Anna still sat nearby, sighing in irritation.

"E-Everyone getting along this well... that's a good thing, right, Senpai?"

Mash tried to phrase it in the most agreeable way she could manage.

As for the rest of the Chaldea staff, their reactions were mixed.

"To think the famous generals of Japanese history are all like this..."

"Is something wrong with that Oda Nobunaga and Minamoto no Yoshitsune?"

"Ahahaha..."

Olga Marie, Da Vinci, and Roman were clearly at a loss for words.

And then, as if to make things even more complex, Siduri brought some news.

"Starting today, the Servants will also be living in the Chaldea Embassy. I'm truly sorry to trouble you all, but would you be willing to take them in?"

She spoke as if weighed by guilt, and everyone's emotions became even more complicated.

But it had been Nobunaga and the others who made the request.

After all, from the perspective of this era, all the Servants were also foreigners summoned from the distant future—completely out of place in this time period. Compared to the people of this age, they were closer in position to Rozen and his group.

Given that, living together didn't seem too unreasonable.

And so, Nobunaga, Okita, Ushiwakamaru, and Benkei all moved into the Chaldea Embassy, nearly filling it to capacity.

However, after this, they still had to return to the Demonic Beast Frontline to continue the war. Most likely, they would only return to rest.

Thus, the Chaldea Embassy became the stronghold of a gathering of outsiders.

Once the raucous breakfast ended, Nobunaga, Okita, Ushiwakamaru, and Benkei each returned to their chosen rooms to rest.

The battle that had erupted at the Eastern Gate last night had kept these four servants fighting through the entire night. They'd finally managed to repel the majority of the demonic beasts and resolve the crisis—but at the cost of missing an entire night of sleep.

Technically, Servants don't need to eat or sleep like humans.

But to avoid increasing the mana burden on their Master—Gilgamesh, in this case—they simulate human behavior by eating and sleeping, thereby conserving mana.

Instead of relying solely on their Master, they sustain themselves by absorbing nutrients and resting.

Under such circumstances, the Servants' daily routines aren't all that different from humans. This was also why Mash had chosen to rest last night—so as to not burden Rozen with further mana depletion.

Altera, thanks to a Spirit Origin shaped by the Holy Grail, could achieve full mana self-sufficiency as long as the battle wasn't of the highest caliber. Because of this, she didn't need to eat or sleep like humans and remained in spiritual form, never interacting with the others.

Rozen had thought about introducing Altera to the others—but when he remembered her personality, he ultimately gave up.

"Well, that girl probably has no interest anyway."

Despite her fear of loneliness and deep desire for connection, she still insisted on acting cold and distant. So unreasonably stubborn.

With that thought in mind, Rozen, after breakfast, led the group and followed Siduri to the Divine Tower.

Their objective, naturally, was to meet Gilgamesh.

When Rozen and his group arrived in the Royal Hall, the king was, as always, seated on his throne, simultaneously receiving reports from various civil officials and managing government affairs.

But this time, unlike last time, the king did not fail to notice their presence.

As soon as Rozen and the others entered, he looked up at them.

"Looks like you all rested well last night."

For reasons unknown, Gilgamesh said this with the corners of his mouth curled into a faint smirk.

Judging by his tone, it wouldn't be surprising if Rozen and the others' entire experience since last night had already been foreseen by him.
