Chapter 2438: -2338- Sneak in
One must admit, Gilgamesh, who returned from the Underworld after attaining enlightenment, truly is the most outstanding Wise King in human history.
Though he appears arrogant and dismissive of others, in truth, he possesses the wisdom to see through everything.
It is precisely because of this that Gilgamesh may have obtained the eyes capable of seeing the future and gained the qualification for a Grand Caster.
However, the future that Gilgamesh can see now should be quite limited.
Due to the incineration of human history, the entirety of humanity's future has been burned away. The future no longer exists. Even if one wanted to see it, it would be impossible.
Unless one possessed a power like Rozen's Mind's Eye, which allows direct insight into the world's records, Clairvoyance like Gilgamesh's shouldn't be able to see much anymore.
Even so, this King has already learned many things through Clairvoyance. Rozen had the feeling that some things were even being deliberately concealed.
(If only my Mind's Eye could see the future freely…)
Rozen couldn't help but think this way.
Because it directly peers into the records of the world itself, once the true power of Mind's Eye is activated, Rozen's brain cannot withstand it.
So, despite being able to see through the past, present, and future, the amount Rozen can currently perceive remains very limited.
Compared to the Clairvoyance of Grand-tier magi, although the level and nature of his vision are more advanced, the restrictions are also far greater.
Like right now—Rozen can only perceive things within the range of Uruk. While he can grasp almost everything happening inside Uruk, anything beyond that is out of reach.
(In the end, I still need to wait for the ascension of my Foreign Mana to complete…)
What Rozen lacked was merely time.
While thinking about these things, Rozen looked toward Gilgamesh.
"I'm ready to begin the search for the Holy Grail."
That was the reason Rozen had come here—to announce this.
"Is that so?" Gilgamesh appeared completely indifferent but still looked down at Rozen from his throne and said, "Since you're saying this, you must have some idea of the Holy Grail's whereabouts, right?"
"More or less." Rozen didn't deny it and said, "As long as you think carefully about the unique nature of this Seventh Singularity, you'll start to get the idea."
That's right.
What makes the Holy Grail in the Seventh Singularity different from the rest?
It's simple.
"This Holy Grail is the only one that the Mage King Solomon personally sent into the past—to this era himself."
Rozen struck at the core of the matter and spoke.
"So, think about it: That man who went so far as to incinerate human history in order to destroy humanity—who would he entrust the Holy Grail to?"
Without a doubt, it would be someone who loathes humanity the most—someone who seeks to annihilate it, who wishes to invade this era and claim the land of Mesopotamia as their own.
In other words, it must be someone who would misuse the power of the Holy Grail to disrupt the era and become an enemy of humanity.
Based on what Rozen had learned over these past days, there was only one such person.
"That would be the leader of the Three Goddess Alliance, the Goddess of Beasts—the one who's been creating all those demonic beasts, crazily invading the land and warring against humanity."
That's what Rozen thought.
"The Goddess of Beasts, huh?" Gilgamesh didn't deny it and murmured, "Indeed, judging by the current situation, that goddess harbors the strongest hostility toward humanity. Her aggression is unmatched, and her hatred for mankind is clear."
Such a person would certainly appeal to the Magician King Solomon, who would gladly hand over the Holy Grail.
Rozen continued to lay out his reasoning.
"The Holy Grail that disrupted this era and gave rise to this Singularity is very likely in the hands of the Goddess of Beasts." Rozen concluded, "I plan to start with her and see if I can force the Holy Grail out."
"Oh?" Gilgamesh said with interest, "Are you planning to storm the Goddess of Beast's temple directly?"
As soon as these words left his mouth, someone unexpected raised an objection.
"I'd advise against doing that," came the voice.
The one who spoke was Ishtar, who had been following behind Rozen the whole time, her expression sour and mood clearly foul.
"That place is not one humans can enter," Ishtar said with a cold splash of reality.
"When I flew over the Cedar Forest on Maanna, I spotted nearly one hundred thousand demonic beasts. Among them were high-ranking ones like Ugal from Tiamat's eleven beasts, and even Bashmu has shown up. While they're mass-produced models, their sheer numbers have increased. Charging in would be a death wish."
Her words shocked even the usually calm Merlin, who had accompanied them.
"Even Bashmu has appeared… That's troublesome."
In mythology, Bashmu is a winged serpent capable of spraying deadly venom—so toxic it could even corrode divinity. Its danger level is among the highest of Tiamat's eleven beasts.
Ugal, on the other hand, known as the Child of the Sun, is one of the highest-class beings among those beasts. Rozen had already encountered it while facing Kingu. Though rarer than the others, it emitted a terrifying spiritual pressure that could rival even a Servant.
If such beasts were swarming the Cedar Forest in great numbers, then with Rozen's current capabilities, charging in would indeed be suicidal.
Not to mention the rest of the beasts—while not as strong as Ugal or Bashmu, they were even more numerous and annoying to deal with.
With over a hundred thousand magical beasts inhabiting the Cedar Forest, unless Rozen disregarded the strain on his Magic Circuits and the drain on his mana, and summoned hundreds of thousands of Beast Vassals, it would be better to approach cautiously.
Moreover...
"I've seen the Goddess of Beast's temple too. You can't even call it a temple—it's more like a fortified mountain. There's a hollow in the center of the raised land where she's nested. Like an ant queen, she continuously produces magical beasts. The entrance is sealed by a barrier that not even I could break unless I had Maanna at full output and used all my divine authority for one shot."
Ishtar warned them.
"You do have that Servant named Altera, so maybe you could come up with something using her. But let me say this: Her power has dropped far more than just a little compared to the ancient times. Sure, she could destroy the temple or even take down the Goddess of Beasts. But taking on the countless magical beasts in the Cedar Forest alone would still be too much. Unless you restored her true form. And if you do that, then forget the Goddess of Beasts—the entire era would be annihilated. Nothing would remain. So don't do anything reckless."
Ishtar's blunt warning left everyone momentarily stunned.
Still, it was valuable intel.
At the very least, now they knew just how dangerous the magical beasts of the Cedar Forest were, and what kind of fortress the Beast Vassal Goddess resided in.
However...
"You giving someone a warning? That's very unlike you. Did you hit your head or something?" Gilgamesh remarked with blunt sarcasm.
"Wha—!?"
Ishtar immediately flew into a rage.
"All right, you two. We're discussing something important here." Siduri, clearly anticipating this situation, quickly intervened.
Rozen just chuckled and shook his head. Then he spoke up.
"I never said I was going to charge straight into the Cedar Forest, did I?"
That was never his intention.
"No frontal assault. We'll sneak in."
That was Rozen's plan.
