Chapter 116: Their Choices and Missions_3
The sound of explosions rang out from time to time, sudden flashes occasionally painting the sky snow-white.
"Whoo whoo whoo——"
A sound of whirling rotors descended rapidly from the sky, then crashed beside a group of people. Amidst the broken flames, this levitating Autonomous Combat Unit shattered into pieces, its dark red metal burning through branches and leaves, causing plumes of white smoke in the humid jungle.
Feeling the nearby wave of fire and explosions, a girl with chestnut-gold hair went slightly pale. She had seen such scenes before, but when everything truly happened right beside her, it still hit her with a powerful impact.
In the sky, figures moved constantly, battling with those levitating Autonomous Units, darting thrillingly through the torrents of bullets, then piercing these units with a single sword through the thick spherical armor.
Destroyed Autonomous Units kept falling, and from time to time, injured members fell from the sky, saved by vigilant companions below.
"We're almost there! Group One and Group Two, cover us from both sides. Group Three and Four, penetrate into the central area of the base and destroy their main control hub." A blond, capable woman commanded from the air, her eyes resolute. The ends of her wide hair were singed, and her protective suit bore many scorch marks.
"Yes." The remaining members responded in unison, then reformed their formation, covering each other as they launched an attack against the patrolling levitating Autonomous Units in the sky.
At a base on a distant hillside, as the assaulting members approached, two Automatic Defense Turrets rose, revealing their white circular barrels.
In an instant, a barrage of dense bullets shot out, a bright green tracer bullet among them drawing a straight descending line in the air, hitting many approaching members, sparks and blood splattering from their bodies as they fell to the ground.
"Damn it." The rear members couldn't help but curse seeing this scene, but soon they too joined the fray at the fiery forefront, spiraling and dodging while advancing towards the heart of the base.
Finally, four members reached the central platform, and with a buzz, four Light Sabers appeared, then inserted into the deck of the platform, carrying continuously melting sparks and hot metal liquid. The four Light Sabers rotated to cut, opening a hollow, and then they rushed inside. Soon, an explosion erupted from within, and those levitating Autonomous Combat Units battling in the sky finally shut down, slowly descending to the ground.
Ten minutes later, the chestnut-gold-haired girl, found by her companions, ascended to the core of this base, supported by the crowd. When her palm pressed on the main control screen, lines of subtitles flashed by, and then the lights throughout the base lit up.

Afterward, she turned around, looking at the injured, even bloodied members below, with some heaviness in her heart.
"Actually, there's no need to fight so hard for me."
She felt like a burden, unable to provide any Divine Protection, yet everyone fought desperately to win for her.
A young man, his head wrapped in bandages and one arm hanging limp, barely raised his other slightly better hand.
"For the glory of the Various Northwestern Star Regions." His eyes fixed on the girl on the platform, his voice carrying a trace of desolation and tenacity.
With this first sentence, voices followed in the base's hall.
Hands raised, stubborn voices shouted out.
"For the glory of the Various Northwestern Star Regions."
"For the glory of the Various Northwestern Star Regions."
"For the glory of the Various Northwestern Star Regions."
...
The uniform voices echoed incessantly throughout the mountain base.
"We hope you can win and restore the economic environment of the Various Northwestern Star Regions as per the proposals in the Central Council." Pairs of bright and hopeful eyes looked at the chestnut-haired girl on stage, full of longing and expectation.
Never before had Blanche felt the heavy mission and hope she carried as now.
