Miss Witch Doesn't Want to be a Diva

Chapter 117 Tilan's Underground Journey

The water cascades from the sky, washing over the lake, raising sprays of mist.

With toes lightly grazing the lake surface, leaving faint ripples, Tilan leaped gracefully, enveloped by a spherical light shield rising from below, passing through the assault of the waterfall, and entered the cave behind.

Two members guarded the dimly lit cave, and as they saw someone jump in, they moved forward to check.

"President Yanqing," they greeted with bowed heads upon seeing the girl in a white tight-fitting suit with ocean-blue hair.

Nodding slightly, Yanqing's body hovered forward, inclining slightly, then darted through the cave like a swift fish, diving into the heart of the secret base.

After half a minute, Yanqing came to a halt, her gaze sweeping over the bustling scene, where part of the team sat in front of screens constantly marking and coordinating with frontline squads, others counted and recorded supplies, while some tested new equipment, ready to deploy and support various squads.

Two pink-haired mermaids swam over, hovering beside Yanqing.

"You have returned."

"Is everything going smoothly at the moment?" Yanqing inquired.

"Mostly smooth, as the landing was just yesterday. Currently, each star cluster is rapidly searching for and expanding outposts, avoiding conflicts to prevent premature exhaustion of strength."

"If you want the detailed situation, you can follow us," said the two mermaids, guiding Yanqing towards the base's command center.

Passing several gates guarded by tall Autonomous Units, Yanqing entered an interior space with six gigantic 'Cultivation Tanks.'

Though called 'Cultivation Tanks,' their functions are more akin to Immersion Cabins, resembling water columns filled with faintly blue glowing liquid. Inside each water column floated a blue-tailed mermaid girl, donning a half-covered helmet with numerous flickering indicator lights. Her two hands spread out, with special devices at her wrists extending signal lines directly connected to the AI terminal at the base of the water column.

Seeing this scene, Yanqing wasn't surprised. She knew these mermaid girls were currently synchronizing with frontline squads through the base's signal transmission tower, assisting them in managing various contingencies, analyzing situations, and providing action recommendations.

The mermaids, a highly enhanced and evolved species, are the most specialized among human branches. They can live in liquid all their lives, transmit information via sonar, directly absorb electric energy to replenish consumption, and comprehend simple electronic signals. Those who cultivate the Spirit Particle Sequence can gain AI-like information processing capabilities.

These abilities are possessed by the 'Light Scale Species,' who even have the mind-share ability beyond the mermaids, as they are the newborn race created by 'Black Sun' combining the 'Angel Prototype' and 'Mermaid.'

Reaching the space amidst large water columns, Yanqing lay inside an Immersion Cabin, putting on a half-covered helmet beside her.

Her light pink eyes flashed with brilliance, and soon the inner connectors with the eyes projected simulated images. Yanqing then lay back, her consciousness rapidly approaching the frontline battle members.

...

In the towering jungle, a six-meter-tall Demon Poison Giant Lizard roared upward, its sharp teeth biting a learner, shaking repeatedly, tearing wounds while its venom seeped in.

On the other side, two teammates kept firing at the giant lizard but couldn't penetrate its tough, reflective scales. One finally tossed aside his gun and pulled out a light saber hilt from his waist.

"No more waiting, we're going in, or Bola's leg will be ripped off," he shouted sternly.

"Damn it," another teammate glanced at their unfortunate ally being bitten by the lizard, discarded his gun, and drew his light saber.

"The reinforcements are too slow; it's just us now."

Both leaped and charged towards the lizard running through the forest, with a hum, their light sabers lit up. As they swung, slicing through the branches and trunks along the way, they drove straight into the lizard's body.

"Zzzt—" Intense sparks and charred blood mist filled the air.

The giant lizard roared in agony, and the injured companion it held finally fell, but the reprieve was short-lived. Just as the two were about to rescue him, the lizard, with bloodshot eyes, turned its head, a strange gleam flashing through its golden slit pupils.

"Oh no—" Before they could finish speaking, their bodies became incredibly rigid, unable to move, and then they rolled off the lizard's back, falling into the mud below.

Demon Poison Giant Lizard [Natural Sequence 6 (Rare Crystal Grade)]: An extraordinary creature with a unique petrification ability, its scales can switch between soft and sturdy to counter various physical attacks. It possesses special toxins that paralyze the body upon entry and contaminate the magic power, making it difficult to mobilize. Without pre-injection of antitoxin serum, it's hard to deal with.

Now, all three have lost combat capability, the situation dangerously precarious, and the nearest support is kilometers away, taking several minutes to arrive.

The giant lizard's massive body moved skillfully through the forest. It turned, grasping two members in its mouth, then scooped up the previously remaining member, holding all of them inside its mouth. Judging by its assessment, these prey had strong resistance, vibrant magical colors, indicating they would be nutritious after consumption.
