Chapter 361: Combination Of Three.
If it were someone else, including people from the Blood Skull sect, they might have been overwhelmed by the group of 30 undead. But the lady was wielding the power of lightning, which was the nemesis of corpses.
A single move from her dealt a devastating blow to the corpses. Lightning directly unraveled the corpses and crippled them at the slightest injury.
It was the sound of her lightning strikes that drew Arthur and the other two. But after watching for a while, they realized why she was running even though it looked like she had the upper hand against the corpses.
The main problem was that the three disciples from the Black Bones sect seemed to have an inexhaustible supply of corpses. If she damages one corpse, they will replace it with a new one immediately.
They didn't overwhelm her with all they had at once. But they kept the pressure up and slowly forced her to a dead end.
No matter how powerful she was, she would eventually be worn down by the constant fighting. Then they would be able to kill her easily.
Arthur saw this and said to Strait, "I'll take them down and give you half. It would be easier if you could help me."
In reply, Strait folded his arm against his chest and said nothing.
Arthur saw this and rolled his eyes. Then he took out his bow and began shooting at the enemy below.
He targeted the three disciples, not the corpses. They were the root problem, so eliminating them would eliminate the problem.
The three of them were at the back of the group directing the corpses to pursue the lady. This made it difficult for them to use their corpses to block the blue arrow that came out of nowhere.
The head of one disciple was directly shattered by the first arrow. By the time the other two responded, the second arrow was already coming at them.
The unexpected put the group in disarray. This disarray gave the lady the opportunity to fight back. She stopped running and began attacking from the front.
She was attacking in a frenzy. The air around her became charged with lightning, and her hair straightened because of the charge. Her violent actions and the straightened hair made her look like a mad person.
She was very angry, and it showed in her actions. Thanks to her, the two disciple drill alive felt pressure on both fronts.
The source of their pressure was two lightning-wielding individuals. It is the worst kind of pressure there is for corpse cultivators. So the pressure was lethal.
The two corpse cultivators brought out everything that they had to defend themselves. They directly took out 20 corpses each.
The number of corpses besieging the lady had reduced to 20 because of the death of one corpse cultivator. The 9 corpses that the dead corpse cultivator was controlling deactivated after their controller died.
But now that another 40 corpses had appeared, the total number of corpses still fighting had increased to 60. The corpse cultivators used these 60 corpses to form shields around them as they escaped.
Arthur saw this and said to Strait, "Now would be a good time to help."
Strait also saw that the three corpse cultivators would be able to escape at this rate. So he rushed to the group of corpses and attacked them.
What he used was a breath attack. Black ashes gushed out of his mouth and sprayed on the corpses.
Every corpse that was touched by the black ash fell to the ground. Their connection to their controllers had been severed by the black ash, so they deactivated immediately.
Strait's attack caused the group of corpses to dwindle quickly. The three of them worked together to eliminate the remaining two corpse cultivators in a few seconds.
Arthur came over after their enemies had been defeated. He said to Strait, "An impressive ability. You directly reduced the difficulty of the fight by more than half. What should have taken a few minutes was achieved in a few seconds."
Strait didn't speak. He bent down to loot the space pouches of the corpse cultivators in silence.
After he found the three space pouches, he threw one to Arthur and another one to the lady.
Then he said, "We are square."
He spoke with a rigid face that would make people think that he had been forced to do something he didn't like. Considering the situation, it appeared to be so.
After speaking, he turned to leave. Arthur didn't think that he had made up for making Strait let the Dyson people leave. So he called to him, "Don't go yet. It is just one pouch. I can get you more."
Strait didn't stop walking away. But he said, "There are corpse cultivators. They will have collected a lot of corpses. They should have enough to make up for the 17 people that I lost."
Arthur shrugged and said, "Suit yourself."
Strait was indeed satisfied. He walked away without looking back.
After he was gone, the lady threw her space pouch to Arthur and said, "Thank you for saving my life. That is a token of my appreciation."
Then she patted her chest and said, "I am Lynette. I hope we meet again someday."
The next thing she did was to turn and leave. Arthur didn't tell her to wait like he did with Strait because he didn't feel like he owed her anything.
He just shrugged and threw the space pouch in the carriage in one smooth motion.
After he was sure that the pouch was secure, he looked in the direction Strait walked into and said, "What a pity that Strait would miss something like this."
Thor chuckled and said, "Look at your face. There is no ounce of pity on it. You don't think it is a pity at all. In fact, you think it is a good thing for you to get more."
Arthur denied it immediately. "Don't slander me. You make me sound like a completely greedy man. That's not good because I am only partially greedy."
