Chapter 30: Chapter 29: The Industrial Era

The deep part of the mine echoed with the sound of machines running. Yang Tao was busy mining copper and tin—two new ores introduced by the Industrial Era mod.

The vanilla ores were already fully automated, but there was no way to automate the modded ones. He had no choice but to mine them manually.

With a backpack full of ores, he returned to the surface industrial zone and tossed everything into a chest. The chest was connected to a pulverizer through a hopper, and the pulverizer was linked to a furnace—forming a semi-automated ore processing line.

"I'm just making a molecular reconstructor today, but power generation is a problem. Let me check the materials… Hmm… I really don't want to build a nuclear power plant—it's too much trouble and wastes too many resources!" Yang Tao was torn on whether he should go for nuclear energy.

Nuclear power had always dominated the Industrial Era mod with its high output, high cost, and high maintenance requirements.

But it was too much work, and Yang Tao didn't want to deal with it. He figured it was better to build more solar panels—eco-friendly, automated, and worry-free. Lava generators were also an option since he could bring back plenty of lava while mining.

"Forget nuclear power. I'll make the quantum suit first!"

There were plenty of chests in dungeons and abandoned mineshafts, and those chests sometimes contained Iridium. Although each chest only had about one to three pieces at most, Yang Tao had found enough of them by now. He had enough materials to craft a full set of quantum armor.

"This looks awesome!" Yang Tao put on the freshly crafted quantum suit. As the pinnacle of the Industrial Era mod, it had a sleek, futuristic design.

It offered insanely high defense. As long as the attack power didn't exceed its limit, it would only consume a small amount of energy without causing any damage.

But the best part? It could fly. It could fly. It could fly. That needed to be said three times.

Sure, the old jetpack also let him fly, but the feeling was completely different. Plus, unlike in the game, where you had to run mid-air to stay up, here he could fly in any position he wanted!

Yang Tao soared through the sky, going back and forth. "This is amazing! No wonder humans have always dreamed of flying."

"Traveling is going to be so much easier from now on. I should craft a quantum sword too—gotta have both offense and defense covered!"

[Congratulations! You have unlocked the achievement: Industrial Mastery.]

[Congratulations! You have unlocked Advanced Solar Panels from the Industrial Expansion mod!]

[Congratulations! You have unlocked the Architecture mod!]

[Congratulations! You have unlocked the More Furniture mod!]

Just as he finished crafting the quantum sword, a new message popped up in the bottom-left corner.

Yang Tao quickly checked the crafting menu and was thrilled to see a ton of new furniture options.

"Finally! I don't have to sit on the floor anymore. I can actually make furniture. My place has been way too plain!"

Until now, he had been sitting on his bed or using wooden stairs and slabs as makeshift chairs. But they were either too short, too hard, or, in the case of wool blocks, too tall and inconvenient.

Now, he could finally enjoy some comfort.

And with advanced solar panels, he no longer had to worry about power shortages.

"I'm out of Iridium… I can't make more solar panels. Looks like I need to find more chests! I need my solar panel array!"

Just imagining a massive field covered with thousands of ultimate hybrid solar panels was enough to make him excited.

Then, just like last time, there was a slight delay, and another message popped up.

[Non-native food detected. The world has changed!]

[It's alive! It moves! Hurry up and start the fire!]

[The More Food mod has been activated.]

Looking at all the food sent by different players in his inventory, Yang Tao fell into deep thought.

He felt like he had figured something out.

"Seems like to unlock new mods, I need to achieve the highest milestone in the current one and obtain items that don't exist in the base game."

In the original game, the Industrial mod only unlocked after defeating the Ender Dragon. Now that he had achieved the highest goal of the Industrial Era mod—crafting quantum gear—it had triggered the More Food mod.

"Judging by this pattern, I probably need to eat every single ingredient in the game… Well, at least I get to upgrade my meals!"
