Chapter 31: Chapter 30: Pokémon
A group of people was chatting in the group chat. Since the chat's features were still pretty basic and there were no missions yet, everyone just signed in daily to earn points and kill time by chatting.
Zhang Wenjing: "Ugh, my story hasn't even started yet! So boring! Training without points is way too slow, and there aren't even any missions."
Li Yunlong: "I ain't bored at all. Just don't know when I can finally drive those little devils out. When that day comes, no matter what, I'm gonna pay a visit to their Emperor in Japan!"
Ren Fa: "Commander Li, it's only a matter of time. Japan is too small; they won't be able to hold out much longer! By the way, didn't you get a bunch of weapons from Tony last time? How's that going?"
Li Yunlong: "The weapons are great, but I can't use them! Normal ones are fine, but missiles? Without a launch system, they're completely useless."
Ren Fa: "You should hand them over to your higher-ups for research! These are top-tier weapons from Stark Industries!"
Li Yunlong: "I already did! Sent them straight to headquarters, but the research guys there keep saying these weapons shouldn't even exist in this era. They think they're just theoretical concepts, and no country in the world should be able to make them right now."
Yang Tao saw the conversation and joined in: "Haha, don't feel bad, Old Li! Everything happens step by step. Back then, your country's tech wasn't advanced enough—low-quality steel, outdated techniques, lack of materials, and poor equipment. But at least this gives your scientists a direction to work toward. Sure, they'll take a lot of detours, but you gotta eat one bite at a time."
Li Yunlong: "I'm not afraid of fighting without fancy weapons. We've been at war without them before. I just don't want my brothers dying just because they didn't have the right tools."
Yang Tao: "How about I help you build some industrial foundations once I save up 1,000 points? No point in giving you advanced stuff if you can't even use it."
Li Yunlong: "Then… thanks, boss. I still don't know how to repay you for all the supplies you sent before. Guess I just owe you more and more! I'll say this on behalf of the people—thank you!"
Yang Tao felt a little embarrassed.
"Don't mention it. It's no big deal for me."
Ash: "Boss! Do you still have those healing potions you gave me last time? Can I get a few more? Pikachu's hurt again!"
Back when Ash and Pikachu got attacked by a flock of Spearows, they were badly injured, and Yang Tao had sent him some potions through a red envelope.
Honestly, Ash's insane durability was worth mentioning—somehow, he was even tougher than his Pokémon!
Yang Tao sent a few more bottles over.
Ash: "Thanks, boss! Oh, I caught a shiny Oddish! Didn't you say you wanted a Pokémon? I'll give it to you!"
A shiny Pokémon! In the games, shiny Pokémon don't have any special advantages besides being super rare, making them a collector's favorite.
But in the real world, shiny Pokémon were even more valuable. Scientists wanted to study why they appeared, but shiny Pokémon had trouble surviving in the wild. They often got rejected by their own kind and driven out of their groups. Some were so rare that they became mere legends.
"Awesome! Thanks, Ash! I've been wanting a companion."
Living alone in his world for so long, Yang Tao was starting to feel lonely. If it weren't for the chat group, things would've been even worse.
He accepted Ash's red envelope, and a golden Oddish appeared in front of him.
Since he had never seen any Pokémon in person before, he had no idea if this one was in good condition or not.
One good thing about Grass-type Pokémon was that they could grow through photosynthesis without needing food. But if he wanted it to be stronger and healthier, he'd still need to feed it properly.
Yang Tao didn't have Pokéblocks, but with his stash of milk that cured all negative effects, enchanted golden apples, and various potions, that wouldn't be a problem.
