Chapter 90: Chapter 89 Mistake in time.
Karna still had a pale face as he listened to what Jason had revealed to him. He had essentially died. He was lucky that Jason had reincarnated him. If this had been like other fanfictions where the god simply grants a gift and leaves them alone, he would not have survived—he would have died along with Wolfram. Or to be more precise, he would have suffered a fate even worse than death.
He sighed. "That explains the extra task, I suppose," Karna said as he gazed at the randomly shifting universe in front of him.
Jason pointed at the phenomenon occurring before them. "I mentioned before that the power of creation inside me—my omnipotence—is incomplete without the full formation of the core universe, which will take time. Until that process is complete, creating an artificial gap liquid will not be beneficial at all, as it will be linked to me.
From what Minerva told me, when my universe fully forms, my powers will temporarily stop working. It doesn't mean I'll be weak or vulnerable, but I will enter a cocoon state. Emerging from it will complete me as an omnipotent being.
Right now, I'm holding the universes together. When I enter the cocoon, they will separate, and the chances of their destruction will be extremely high. Even if I can restore them afterward, until the moment I do after waking which maybe can take until centuries passes in your worlds, the denizens of those universes will experience hell just trying to survive for even a moment. And if I'm right, even death won't save them, as their afterlives exist within their universes, which will also be affected."
I could imagine the dreadfulness of what he was saying. Even if it took trillions of years for his universe to form—even if my own universe should have long since vanished by then—I had a feeling it wouldn't be that simple. From what I remember, Karna was an adult when I was brought into the My Hero Academia universe, yet now there isn't much of an age difference between us. This proves that time flows differently in different universes. So, the chances of this cocoon event affecting my universe right after I return are very high. From what I can see, time is fluid in the vast expanse of nothingness, where even the fundamental laws of physics from my world may not necessarily apply.
"I hadn't realized the full ramifications of this until you got trapped in the gap, and your hypothesis is correct," Jason admitted as he read my mind. "Time is fluid without a fixed state from the point of view outside the universes run by the rules of physics and time, and it might fluctuate when I enter my cocoon state. So, the chances of what you feared happening are very high." Jason paused for a moment and continued.
"So that's why the entire gap is in disarray in front of you right now. To create gap liquid, we need a highly adaptable omnipotence that lacks consciousness and will never develop one, no matter how adaptive it becomes. To achieve this, I borrowed many celestial bodies from other omnipotent beings around me and subjected them to various processes in the gap. At the end of this process, it will create the gap liquid for my universe—one that won't vanish when I enter my cocoon."
"So, what should I do now?" Inazuma asked Jason.
"I think it's time to go home, kid. You've made them wait long enough. It's better if you go back now."
Inazuma smiled—then suddenly froze as he fully comprehended the words.
"What do you mean, so long?" he asked, slowly turning his head toward Jason.
"Ah, well... let's just say the formation of gap liquid might have caused some time dilation—plus, uh, a few of my own mistakes, I guess," Jason admitted with a strained smile, as if trying to hide something.
"What did you do?" Inazuma asked seriously.
"Oh, nothing much. It's just that I'll only be able to send you back to your world a bit later than originally intended."
Before Inazuma could react, everything suddenly turned white.
When he opened his eyes, he was falling through a blue portal quickly and From what he could see, the portal's exit was perpendicular to the side of a building—meaning that if he did nothing, he would fall straight down.
He immediately activated his quirk, trying to slow his descent by creating footholds along the walls of the portal and kicking off in different directions. He knew that if he created a platform horizontally while falling at this speed, his legs would break the moment he landed on it. As he neared the building, he pushed himself against the wall and began running downward, gradually slowing himself at intervals.
By the time he reached the ground, he had come to a complete stop. When he looked back, he saw the portal closing in a bizarre manner. For a moment, he could have sworn it winked at him. But considering the eccentricity of the person who had created it, he doubted it was a hallucination.
Looking around, he confirmed that he was back on I-Island. However, it didn't seem as crowded as it had been the last time he was here. Perhaps this was its normal population, with the influx of visitors only happening when the island opened up to outsiders. I-Island was a prototype man-made island, designed as a safe haven for researchers while offering enough infrastructure for their families to live normal lives—albeit in a more technologically advanced environment than the outside world. Their lives themselves were an experiment, testing the feasibility and sustainability of the technologies and reforms invented in the island for the future.
Inazuma then turned to the digital billboards to check the date—and what he saw shocked him.
He had been in the other world for a total of two weeks.
But in this world, an entire month had already passed.
