Multiverse Chat Group: My Abstract System is Too Overpowered

Chapter 55: Chapter 55: The Clotho System and Dawn's Gift

Following City Lord Morgan, Victor and the others took the elevator deep into the core of the Lighthouse. After passing through a long, narrow secret passageway, they finally reached the secret chamber that housed the Clotho system.

What greeted them was a massive containment unit filled with nutrient fluid. Inside floated half a brain, larger than any human organ, covered in pulsing, glowing tentacles that cast an eerie glow throughout the chamber.

Connected to the brain by a network of densely packed tubes and cables was an array of sophisticated computing machines that hummed with constant activity.

Seeing this grotesque biological computer, Bai Yuekui's eyes flashed with recognition and surprise.

So the missing half of the brain ended up here all along!

City Lord Morgan gestured to the installation with obvious pride. "This is the core of the Clotho system, a supercomputer constructed from the neural tissue of ancient humanoids!"

"It has the ability to observe the position and momentum of microscopic particles, allowing us to predict the future by calculating the state of every atom in the universe. Its computing power exceeds that of any other computer system in existence!"

There was unmistakable pride in Morgan's introduction. This was the Lighthouse's greatest technological achievement, a marvel that had taken years to construct and represented the pinnacle of their scientific advancement.

So what if the survivors on the surface possess formidable individual power? he thought. In terms of technological sophistication, the Lighthouse remains humanity's greatest bastion!

When humanity finally reclaimed Earth and attempted to rebuild an advanced civilization, they would inevitably need the technological expertise of the Lighthouse.

However, the little girl in Victor's arms found the brain-computer somewhat frightening. She covered her eyes with her small hands and shivered slightly.

"Don't be afraid," Victor said gently, patting her back with reassuring tenderness. "This thing won't hurt anyone."

Bai Yuekui watched this interaction with genuine surprise. "I didn't expect you to be so gentle with children."

Victor nodded seriously. "Of course, but only with well-behaved children. If it was a particularly naughty child, I wouldn't mind using appropriate disciplinary measures to educate him."

After all, discipline had to be both firm and fair.

"Hold her for a moment," Victor said, placing the little girl in Bai Yuekui's arms. "I need to examine this brain more closely."

Bai Yuekui accepted the child without complaint, holding it protectively.

Victor approached the containment unit and placed his left hand on the reinforced glass. He closed his eyes and extended his mental awareness into the preserved neural tissue.

He had hoped to read any memories that might remain within the organ, but to his disappointment, the brain appeared to be completely blank, containing only vast reserves of pure mental energy with no trace of retained experience or knowledge.

The sheer magnitude of this mental power made Victor intensely curious as to what kind of creature this brain had originally belonged to. More importantly, such concentrated psychic energy would be excellent material for high-level alchemy.

With this thought in mind, he turned to City Lord Morgan. "Is this brain for sale?"

The question nearly caused Morgan's mental processes to completely shut down.

For sale? What does he think this is, livestock at a meat market? Does he want me to weigh it by the kilogram and give him a price?

If Victor had been privy to Morgan's inner monologue, he might have enthusiastically agreed with the suggestion. Pricing by weight seemed perfectly reasonable, perhaps fifteen credits per kilogram would be fair.

"I'm sorry, but the Clotho system is not for sale!" Morgan replied firmly. "This facility is vital to the survival of the entire Lighthouse."

Victor had expected this reaction, so he just shrugged and didn't press the matter.

They continued on to the Lighthouse archives to search for information on the Lord of Light and Shadow. Unfortunately, this expedition proved equally fruitless.

In the decades since the Lighthouse's founding, they had encountered the Lord of Light and Shadow only once. All recorded information about this mysterious being consisted of either fabricated stories created by the faithful or unverified rumors of questionable authenticity.

The only potentially useful information was that Charles had supposedly met and been rescued by this being during his childhood, but Victor already knew that detail.

Disappointed, but not surprised, he abandoned this line of inquiry.

Just as they were wrapping up their research, the teams sent to test the methods of eliminating the Pole Devourers returned with confirmation that the techniques were viable.

Upon learning that the Pole Devourers could indeed be permanently destroyed, City Lord Morgan's excitement was palpable.

"Excellent! Magnificent! Outstanding!" Morgan exclaimed three times in a row, his joy evident. "We finally have a way to really kill these creatures!"

With a reliable method of eliminating the Pole Devourers, they could finally imagine returning to the surface! Perhaps humanity could once again regain dominion over the Earth!

Considering these possibilities, Morgan's expression became even more euphoric as he stood with his hands clasped behind his back, gazing up at the chamber's high ceiling as if imagining a glorious future.

"Old man, don't forget our previous agreement," Victor said dryly, watching Morgan's theatrical posturing with amusement. The urge to give the City Lord a swift kick in the butt was almost overwhelming.

Morgan quickly composed himself. "Ahem, of course not. I'll have Mark escort you to get the Dawn Armor."

After receiving the summons, Mark arrived as quickly as possible.

"Mark, please take our guests to acquire their gravity bodies," Morgan instructed.

Mark nodded respectfully before turning to Victor. "I am in the process of preparing and calibrating your gravity body. The process may take some additional time."

"I can wait," Victor replied, "but remember to make my armor look as impressive as possible.

Strength might be temporary, but style was forever! As a collector's item, Victor only cared that his gravity body had sufficient visual appeal. He had no need to think about mobility or practical combat applications, since he would never actually use it in battle against enemies.

Mark immediately patted his chest with confidence. "Don't worry, the gravity body we're preparing for you is definitely the best available!"

"Really?" Victor asked skeptically.

Of all the Lighthouse's gravity bodies, Mark's own Dawn armor was undoubtedly the most impressive. Surely he wouldn't part with his personal equipment?

Since the preparation of the gravity body would take some time, Mark spent the meantime giving Victor and Bai Yuekui a comprehensive tour of the Lighthouse facilities.

As they passed through the outer ring residential area, they encountered the little girl's two companions. Victor gently set her down, and though she seemed reluctant to leave his protective embrace, she dutifully returned to her friends.

Time passed as they explored most areas of the Lighthouse's vast structure. Eventually, Mark received word that the gravity body was ready for presentation.

The group quickly made their way to the Wasteland Hunter base, where familiar faces such as Ran Bing, Feixue, Mo Cheng, Erica, and other experienced hunters had gathered around a gravity body hidden under a black cloth.

This was obviously the armor intended as a gift from Victor.

Ran Bing stepped forward respectfully. "Captain, all is prepared."

Mark nodded in agreement before turning to Victor. "This is the gravity body we prepared for you. Would you like to see it?"

The ceremonial secret only increased Victor's curiosity. "Remove the cover and let me have a look."

At Mark's command, Mo Cheng immediately pulled off the black cloth.

What was revealed was a magnificent black gravitational body radiating an aura of overwhelming power and authority!

"Dawn?" Victor's eyes widened in genuine surprise.

Had Mark really given him his own personal armor? The generosity was almost unbelievable. If memory served, Dawn was a precious relic left by Mark's sister, a piece of equipment with deep sentimental value.

"It seems Mr. Victor recognizes it," Mark said, approaching Dawn and gently stroking the gravity body that had seen him through countless battles. His eyes reflected years of shared experience and an unmistakable reluctance to part with such a treasured possession.

"This is the strongest and most impressive gravity body in the entire Lighthouse fleet. I believe it's the only one truly worthy of someone with your abilities."

"You are very thoughtful," Victor replied, genuinely touched by Mark's sincerity.

He had originally expected them to provide some standard armor just to fulfill their obligation. Mark's willingness to sacrifice his most precious equipment showed remarkable integrity and respect.

Since they had shown such genuine consideration, how could he respond with stinginess?

Victor immediately retrieved a milky white pill from his system room and threw it to Mark, who instinctively caught it.

"What is this?" Mark asked, examining the smooth, perfectly formed elixir.

"A Subduing Tiger Pill," Victor explained. "It enhances physical constitution and imparts tremendous strength. Consider it my personal reward for your generosity."

"Thank you!" Mark carefully tucked the pill into his pocket, treating it like the precious gift it truly was.
