Chapter 443: [441] Beast
"Yo, Natsuki-chan."
"'Yo'? Are you serious? You insufferable bastard."
"Come on, there are so many people here. Cut me some slack."
"Slack? Who's giving me slack? Don't you realize Saikai Academy is my turf? Hurry up and put your beast away."
"Fine, fine. I'm at your mercy here, after all."
Snap!
With a sharp snap of his fingers, the menacing figure of the conceptual death god vanished.
Natsuki Minamiya watched him carefully. This man was unpredictable to his core. If he was in a good mood, you could argue with him, insult him even, and get away unscathed. But if he wasn't, even the smallest mistake would result in severe consequences.
Men like him were the hardest to deal with because you could never guess their next move or anticipate their reactions.
"By the way, Natsuki-chan, you—"
Whack!
August hadn't even finished his sentence before a chain of restraint came out of nowhere and smacked him on the head.
"Don't call a teacher 'chan,' you idiot."
"Then why don't you hit him?" August gestured toward another man.
"Do you think you're on his level? He—"
Natsuki pointed toward August but stopped mid-sentence, realizing she was about to admit she couldn't handle him. Feeling embarrassed, she left the thought unfinished.
Her hesitation only fueled the crowd's wild imaginations. After all, a fiery woman refraining from rebuking a man? Naturally, it gave rise to all sorts of assumptions.
August, nursing the spot where the chain had hit him, wisely decided to keep his mouth shut. If he couldn't see what was going on here, he'd truly be a fool. Clearly, their relationship was much deeper than he had initially thought.
"Ah, Natsuki-chan, I didn't realize I was this important to you."
"Shut up, you damn demon king! And you lot, stop letting your imaginations run wild!"
Natsuki's flustered reaction only made things worse. To everyone present, her embarrassment was proof that August had struck a nerve.
But with her arrival, the unfolding drama took an abrupt turn. August glanced at Yuiri Haba and Shio Hikawa, immediately realizing who they were. They must be emissaries from the Lion King Organization, sent here as mediums for Kojou.
In the original storyline, both of these women had become Kojou's blood servants. But Shio Hikawa, curiously, wasn't infatuated with Kojou—she had a crush on his father.
Now, because of August's interference, Yukina Himeragi and Sayaka Kirasaka had been assigned to him instead, leaving these two for Kojou.
What made this even more apparent was how the Lion King Organization had sent both of them together and allowed them to be bitten immediately. It was obviously part of some calculated plan.
"Kojou, you seem to be enjoying the Lion King matchmaking service's latest delivery."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Oh? You really don't know? The two women beside you are sword shaman and war dancers sent by the Lion King Organization. They're not just mediums; they're your blood servants. In simpler terms, they're your wives."
"W-Wives? What the hell are you talking about? Yuiri's just here to help me!"
The moment Kojou blurted this out, Yuiri Haba and Shio Hikawa's faces subtly changed.
Yuiri, in particular, felt a surge of anger. Although she had agreed to the mission and understood the implications, she had no personal affection for Kojou. She was merely following orders.
But even so, Kojou's careless words stung. He had seen her body, bitten her, and now dismissed her efforts as though they meant nothing.
The women around them bristled with anger, especially Sayaka Kirasaka, whose distaste for men was well known. Kojou's "thoughtless" comment only deepened her disgust.
"Help you? Really, Kojou? A woman lets you drink her blood, and you think it's just for your convenience? How arrogant can you get?"
"Stop twisting my words! You've got two women by your side too. And you know Yuiri! Are you saying—"
"That's right. They're my women, sent by the Lion King Organization. But unlike you, I don't see them as wives. They don't even qualify to be concubines—at best, they're servants."
"Servants?! You treat them like that?!"
Kojou's indignant tone only made the crowd's disdain for him grow. His self-righteous attitude was nauseating, no better than the behavior he criticized.
"Wow, you're really upset, huh? If you respect them so much, why did you drink her blood? Don't tell me you didn't know what that signifies as the Fourth Primogenitor."
"I already said it was for help! I'm not like you."
"You're right—you're not like me."
August shook his head, disappointment evident in his gaze.
BOOM!
Suddenly, a burst of Conqueror's Haki erupted from August. The oppressive force descended upon Kojou like a tidal wave, instantly overwhelming him and suppressing the magic within his body.
The others, however, remained untouched. Even Yuiri Haba and Shio Hikawa, the emissaries sent by the Lion King Organization, were spared from the crushing aura.
"Kojou, to be honest, I'd like nothing more than to kill you right now."
The room fell deathly silent. Natsuki, in particular, stiffened in alarm. This was the Fourth Primogenitor they were talking about. If he died, it would trigger chaos on a massive scale.
Kojou himself was paralyzed with fear. No one is unafraid of death. No matter how brave or fearless a person claims to be, when faced with their own mortality, terror and regret inevitably creep in.
"But don't worry—I won't kill you. At least not yet."
As he spoke, a portal from the Gate of Babylon opened beside August. A peculiar weapon resembling a scythe, its blade curved inward, emerged.
The moment Kojou laid eyes on it, his pupils contracted. He didn't know why, but this weapon exuded a sense of overwhelming danger.
"I Kojou Akatsuki, heir of the Kaleid Blood lineage, release your chains. Come forth, Fifth Beast Vassal—Regulus Aurum!"
Without hesitation, as his life hung in the balance, Kojou summoned his beast.
CRACKLE!
The Fifth Beast Vassal, Regulus Aurum, descended with a roar of thunder.
Natsuki clenched her fists in frustration. She wanted to intervene, but this was a clash between a true ancestor and a demon king. It wasn't a battle a mere witch like her could meddle in.
For now, all she could do was ensure Saikai Academy, the place she cherished, remained unharmed during the coming storm.
