Chapter 444: [442] The Mighty
Regulus Aurum, the Fifth Familiar among the twelve belonging to the Fourth Primogenitor, stood majestic.
It represented the constellation Leo—a golden lion wreathed in ferocious lightning. Its body radiated a torrent of magical energy charged with electrifying thunder.
August, observing the summoned Regulus Aurum, merely smirked, but his expression carried unmistakable disdain.
At present, Kojou Akatsuki's strength didn't even qualify as Demon King level. At best, he was a mere half-step away from it. Due to his inadequate power, Regulus Aurum was only barely capable of matching a low-tier Demon King.
If this had been the true Fourth Primogenitor, a single Familiar could have razed an entire nation. Compared to that, Kojou's pitiful attempt was laughable.
"Yukina."
"Yes, Master."
At his command, Yukina Himeragi stepped forward, her Schneewalzer spear glowing faintly as she activated its divine vibrations. The ancient weapon hummed with suppressed power as she chanted a spell.
"I, Sword Shaman of the High God and priestess of the Lion, beseech thee. Dawn light of exorcism, spirit wolf of snowy mist, grant me the divine might of thy steel, that I may smite a hundred evil spirits!"
As Yukina's chant ended, her Schneewalzer surged with its full power. With precision and purpose, she leaped into the air toward the massive Regulus Aurum.
The golden lion roared, releasing a massive surge of lightning, each arc crackling with destructive energy as it aimed directly at Yukina.
"Yukina!" Sayaka Kirasaka shouted, her face filled with worry. This was no ordinary foe—this was a Familiar of the Fourth Primogenitor. Charging in so recklessly could only end in disaster.
Kojou Akatsuki also hesitated. He didn't want to harm Yukina, but she belonged to August. And with August commanding her, he had no choice but to retaliate.
BOOM!
The lightning struck Yukina squarely. But contrary to everyone's expectations, she emerged completely unscathed.
Every bolt of lightning that neared her had been effortlessly absorbed into her body, leaving her unharmed.
The sight left the onlookers utterly dumbfounded. Sayaka, in particular, was frozen in shock. She had no idea Yukina possessed such a unique ability. After all, this was an attack from a Primogenitor-level Familiar—how could it simply be neutralized?
"Hey... don't tell me this is that so-called 'Power of Gluttony' power, right?" Natsuki Minamiya asked warily, glancing at August. She was one of the few people aware of the curse known as "Commandments."
"Correct," August replied without hesitation. "The Commandment of Gluttony. It originates from the Sin of Gluttony and can devour all forms of magic. Any attack with a magical property becomes null and void."
"Devour all magic? Neutralize it entirely?"
"Exactly. At this moment, Yukina, in some ways, is even stronger than the Schneewalzer she wields."
"You really are a monster," Natsuki muttered as she stared at August, shaking her head in disbelief. Neutralizing all magic was nothing short of a cheat-level ability.
And what was more terrifying? August had once mentioned this was just a fragment of his power, meaning he could wield the same ability himself.
CRACK!
As this realization settled in, Yukina's Schneewalzer found its mark. Its blade pierced the golden hide of Regulus Aurum.
With a decisive strike, Yukina Himeragi drove back Regulus Aurum. She was no longer the same girl as before.
After fusing with the Commandment of Gluttony, Yukina had not only inherited its terrifying ability but also gained a sinister, dark magical power—a force akin to that of Demons, emanating from the same primal darkness.
"This… This can't be! Yukina actually drove back a Familiar of the Fourth Primogenitor!"
Sayaka Kirasaka's voice trembled with disbelief. Yukina's newfound power was nothing short of earth-shattering to her.
Devour it...
In the brief silence, a voice echoed in Yukina's mind. She couldn't explain why, but she instinctively followed the voice's command. With dark energy enveloping her hand, she charged forward, placing her palm directly on the head of Regulus Aurum.
ROAR!
The golden lion let out an enraged bellow, its body thrumming with defiance. Yet, almost immediately, its magical energy began to dissipate at an alarming rate.
The Commandment of Gluttony didn't just neutralize magic—it consumed it. The magical energy didn't vanish but was instead devoured, becoming nourishment for the Commandment. And once absorbed, the Commandment fed that power back to Yukina, its host.
This was precisely why August had gifted Yukina the Commandment of Gluttony. Though her skills were decent, and she could wield the Schneewalzer effectively, her innate strength was lacking. The Commandment would help her grow stronger.
Yet, the dark power granted by the Commandment was ultimately foreign to her—a borrowed strength, not something she truly owned.
In mere seconds, Regulus Aurum faded away with a sorrowful wail.
Of course, it wasn't destroyed. Its energy had been depleted, forcing it to retreat back into Kojou Akatsuki's body. Familiars required a steady supply of magical energy to remain manifested in the physical world. Once that energy was drained, they would vanish—but they could be summoned again later.
Still, the fact that Yukina, on her own, had effortlessly dispatched Regulus Aurum—freshly awakened and powered by the Fourth Primogenitor—left everyone in awe.
"This girl... she's even more of a monster than I thought," Natsuki Minamiya murmured as she gazed at Yukina, who now looked more like a dark sorceress than an ordinary warrior.
Meanwhile, August stood with a smile on his face, watching the defeated Kojou Akatsuki.
To Akatsuki, however, that smile was pure mockery. Even August's servant had defeated his Familiar, and August hadn't even lifted a finger.
The humiliation was unbearable. Kojou i had just awakened Regulus Aurum after drinking Yume Irina's blood, only for it to be rendered useless so quickly.
"To give you a little pressure, Kojou," August said lightly, "I've prepared a gift for you."
Before Kojou could react, August moved with blinding speed. His weapon flashed, and a massive wound tore across Akatsuki's chest.
Normally, Kojoui's vampiric nature—bolstered by the "Divine Curse"—made him nearly immortal. Even if his body were torn apart, his blood and flesh would regenerate. Most injuries were meaningless to him.
But this weapon was different.
The blade August wielded suppressed Kojou's regenerative powers entirely. The wound it inflicted refused to heal.
It was the Immortal Slaying Scythe, Harpe, a divine construct from Greek mythology. Shaped like a scythe, it possessed the power to nullify immortality itself. It was the very weapon Perseus had used to decapitate the sleeping Medusa.
August had chosen this weapon to send a message: being a Primogenitor didn't make Kojou invincible. There were countless ways to kill him.
"That's enough for today, August," Natsuki finally spoke, her voice steady but firm.
No matter what, Kojou was still her student. As his teacher, she couldn't stand by and watch him be pushed to the brink.
"Well, since you've asked so nicely, Natsuki-chan, I'll leave it at that," August replied with a chuckle.
Though he had intended to leave Kojou with a deeper scar—both physical and emotional—he respected Natsuki's interjection. For now, the game was over.
