Chapter 4: first spin
Hiroshi's POV
Finally, I could do the spin. I'd been waiting a month for this. There was a good chance that if the cards appeared all at once, my odds would be better than if I spun individually.
Over the last month, I'd mostly just dealt with Yuma and a couple of other cousins. The rest of the family was too busy with their own lives. And I was pretty focused on my own stuff, too.
I tried to keep my behavior as normal as possible, but with the shift in Hiroshi's attitude, I knew it was only a matter of time before someone noticed.
I already knew where I would head once I left this place. I just needed the right opportunity, which seemed like it would come in about a week.
When the points finally hit zero, 10 cards popped up.
Please, at least one good template.
Minor Healing Potion x9
Jigoro Kuwajima
Echo Template Card x2
Batpod
Contract Card x4
Soto Muso
Mountain and River Dragon Seal (Seal of Lands)
Ageing Potion x3
Background Customization Card x3
Travel Card: Pokémon (AU)
Not bad. No wasted cards. Okay, maybe the Batpod's a little useless, but hey, every guy dreams of having a cool bike.
Guess since it was my first spin, the system decided to be nice. I got a character card.
Jigoro Kuwajima the former Thunder Hashira, the guy who taught Zenitsu and Kaigaku Thunder Breathing.
I think he'd rank somewhere between Chunin and Jonin, maybe a special Jonin, with his sword skills and experience.
I'm not arrogant enough to think he'd match a true Jonin, though. They've got more experience and jutsu, and each has their own specialty.
And I don't think they'll come at me head-on. I always remind myself that this isn't a world where the protagonist can change their opponent's heart with words or hope for recognition. This world trains people from an early age to be killers.
For shinobi, killing is as easy as breathing. They can change their appearance, make their voice unrecognizable, and get so close that you won't even realize it.
A lot of people don't understand. The series isn't about the shinobi world it's about Naruto Uzumaki's journey. This world is more darker than it appears.
Pushing those dark thoughts aside I focus on the rest of the cards.
The healing potions from Overlord definitely going to be useful.
The Echo Template Card x2 means I can use it on a body that's been dead for less than a minute. The card creates a template of whatever creature it was.
Hmm, I'd want to use it on someone powerful, but I think I'll start with someone weaker. I need to get the basics down first, especially if I want to use chakra properly.
Next is the Batpod from the Batman trilogy. Personally, I think it's one of the best trilogies, although it could've been perfect if they'd put more work into the third part.
The Contract Card lets me make others my summon without having to call them directly. This will be useful if I end up traveling to another world.
Soto Muso from One Piece. Now seeing this, I'm definitely more interested in getting a template from that world than from Demon Slayer. Maybe even a Devil Fruit.
I didn't waste much time on that thought and checked the rest of the cards.
Mountain and River Dragon Seal from Spare Me, Great Lord. One of my favorite Chinese works. With this, I won't have any problems storing loot.
The Ageing Potion from Harry Potter the one Fred and George used in Goblet of Fire. It ages the user depending on how much they drink.
I really want to rob Snape's room. He was a silent guardian, a dark knight.
Then there's the Background Customization Card. As its name suggests, it lets me create a character's background, but with some limitations. Means I can't use it on me and becomes hokage or daimyo.
And finally, the World Travel Card. It lets me travel to other worlds, and this one's specific to the Pokémon world… an AU, no less.
How much this world deviates from the original story will be something I can only find out once I get there.
I didn't waste any time and immediately put the jigoro on Assimilation slot.
Though I didnt felt anything change immediately. Maybe the effect will be slowly.
I pulled out the Seal of Lands. Just like in the series, I closed my eyes, focused, and when I opened them again, I was... in the sky.
I was flying or my spirit was, at least. Looking down at the town below me, I could finally understand what it felt like. This experience was completely different.
I tried to go back to my sofa, and just like that, I was back. No change.
Next, I tested the seal's second function. I took a coin and thought about storing them inside. They vanished. Then, when I thought about bringing them back, they appeared right in front of me.
Wait a minute... I remembered something. There's a personal dimension inside the seal not just for storing items, but I can also go inside it.
Should I try it? Why not.
Closing my eyes again, I focused. When I opened them, the surroundings were completely different. Everything was black, with a white surface beneath me. I immediately turned to see a giant door.
Too big.
I moved closer to the giant door and tried to push it. It budged barely. Just a little. Through the small gap, I could see stairs leading up to what looked like a shrine or temple.
It's clear now I'm going to need more strength before I can fully access whatever this place is. Looks like this new dimension isn't going to be easy to unlock. But I'll get there. One step at a time.
